Superb leader, luxurious onsens, testing hiking, dramatic biking on superb bikes, more trains than Michael Portillo, and raw fish with an occasional snail to eat
Trains that arrive and depart on time from an absolutely spotless litter free station
Ayako was a superb logistician, very knowledgeable, an excellent communicator and a good friend
Seize every onsen opportunity - especially being buried in hot sand and also lying on a bed of herbs in a roasting steamy cave!
The Inca trail glamping trip exceeded our expectations
the highlight was reading the Sungate after 4 days hiking and seeing Machu Picchu
Henry was an extremely experienced leader with great social and organisational skills. He did a fabulous job managing the team of guides, cooks and porters with such a lovely manner. He always gave clear instructions about our activities and really took care of all our requirements and needs.
The SolarisB trip in the Galapagos islands was fantastic. Very comfortable boat, great food and excellent guide.
Seeing the amazing wildlife on land and underwater so close was fabulous. We were lucky to be there is the mating season and we saw a blue-footed boobies courtship display right on the path. Swimming with hammerhead sharks and sealions was amazing
Excellent. Very knowlegable about the wildlife etc
As an Exodus staff member (quality control Director) – whose done 6 different cycling trips – you wont get better than this one. The combination of superb local leader& driver, quiet cycle routes and stunning southern Italian towns is almost perfect.
We all loved the first 2 rides. On the quietest of rural backroads between Matera and Alberobello, and Alberobello and Ostuni. Topped off by a welcome stay at a rural Masseria with large gardens, a great pool and lovely resturant.
Alessandro Tau is one of the best. Charm, personality, humour and care that we get the best experience. He also happens to be a qualified sommelier (knows the best local Primitvo wines) and archaeologist!
Book it - if possible aim for early / late season to avoid some of the holiday traffic that builds into June to Sept.
An interesting country to visit: mountainous scenery; archaeological sites; mosques and churches; enjoyable food and wine; and friendly people.
Berat and Kruje are attractive cities. The Bunk Museum in Tirana, which lays bare the oppression under Enver Hoxha, is sobering. Some beautiful icons, especially in the museum in Korce.
Artur, our guide, was very diligent, ensuring that every part of the trip ran smoothly. He provided lots of information about a country which he loves and went out of his way - and was personally generous - to try to ensure that everyone enjoyed the trip. Artur picked good local restaurants for optional group meals. Our driver, Diu, drove very safely and, despite having no more than a few words of English, was very much part of the group - not least through taking, and circulating, many excellent photos.
We went out a day early and came back a day late, so that we could get direct BA flights. On our extra day at the end, we had a beautiful walk up 2,000 feet to the top of the mountain behind the hotel to visit the sanctuary there - a good option if you have the time and energy.
This trip came well reviewed from many other travellers I have met on other cycling trips so we had so see what it was all about – expectations were exceeded in every way. The cycling was challenging but rewarding, the team flawless, most importantly, it provided an immersive experience in the very best Sri Lanka has to offer that you simply can’t get from seeing the country any other way.
Too many to list, but cycling through the tea plantations and having dinner at a locals house were special standouts.
Suresh was THE most professional, personable and attentive guide we have ever had. They have all been fantastic, but he took it to a new level, bravo.
If you want to be exposed to everything this country has to offer then - book it and go!
I thought the trip was very well organized. Our guide was fantastic and I enjoyed the variety of activities. They included in the tour. I also liked that it was a smaller group. We were about 10+ the guide.
The mask in Casablanca the Rif mountains, Chefchaouen.
Aman was an excellent leader. He was very organized. He always gave us lots of information, especially about wherever we were visiting locally. He was very kind very funny sociable everyone really enjoyed him.
Hassan was an outstanding tour leader who looked after us very well.He made sure that we had plenty of toilet stops, gave us water for our drinking bottles and a drop of sanitiser every time we came back in the bus after a stop. He showed us how people live in Morocco, explained their way of life, the education system, the religion, monarchy women rights, men’s duties. We stayed in interesting authentic places. The ride on the camels in the Sahara to out tent accommodation was a high light.
The ride on the camel through the Sahara. The deep blue sky against the sand. Visiting Fes and all the sights. Eating in special local places. Meeting locals in their houses.
Hassan knows his country very well. He is a very good ambassador for Morocco. He made sure that everyone was happy. He interacted well with everyone and made sure that we were safe. He even organised 2 birthday cakes, one was for my husband.
Every detail was delivered as promised. The quality of the food and supplies were great. Healthy and innovative meals. Our guide shared his passion for the beauty and history rich country of Peru.
Our guide, Whilder, shared so much history and information with our group. Also the friends we made within our group were amazing.
Whilder cared that we succeeded on our hike. Safety was important. The amount of knowledge shared with our group was amazing. Our guide was friendly and spent every minute working on the details to make the trip a success. We couldn't have asked for a better guide!
