Where to Travel in October

While Madagascar is one of the best places to travel in October to see baby ring-tailed lemurs, it’s also a terrific month to head to Albania or witness the beautiful autumn colours in South Korea.  

MADAGASCAR

October is an excellent time to visit Madagascar, as temperatures begin to rise and wildlife becomes more active. Lemurs are especially lively, and you may even spot baby ring-tailed lemurs born around this time. Temperatures across South Korea are rather lovely in October. The summer heat has subsided, but the bitter temperatures of December onwards are way off, making it an ideal time for exploring the Seoraksan National Park in the Seorak Mountains. It’s also when autumn foliage begins to sweep across the country, with crimson reds, burnt oranges and golden leaves framing the country’s temples.

Explore the ‘Maldives of Europe’

Albania is becoming an increasingly popular destination to visit thanks to its outstanding natural beauty, rugged coastline and impressive historical sights. This month, temperatures sit comfortably in the early twenties, making it perfect for discovering the country’s riviera and mountain plateaus on two wheels. Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

Although climbing Mount Kilimanjaro year-round is possible, October is an excellent month to visit Tanzania and embark on this expedition, as it’s before the rainy season begins but after the most popular months of July and August. You can even time your climb to coincide with the full moon on some departures or take the lesser-known Rongai route.

Visit temples without the crowds

October marks the tail end of the rainy season, so you’ll see the humidity start to drop slightly with temperatures averaging around 27C, making it a great shoulder season month to visit Cambodia. There are fewer crowds too so you can enjoy incredible sites like Angkor Wat Complex and the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh almost to yourself. Prime season for Himalayan trekking

October is one of the finest times to visit Nepal, when clear skies and settled weather reveal uninterrupted views of the Himalaya.
