FAQs on Trips to Greece

When is the best time to visit Greece?

Greece has plenty to offer all year. But if you’re seeking sun-drenched beaches and ideal swimming conditions, the popular summer months of June to September offer warm daytime temperatures of around 30°C or even higher. The weather is largely dry at this time of year and some places, including the cities, can become very hot in July and August.

If you’re planning an activity holiday in Greece then the months of April, May and October offer cooler conditions that are ideal for walking or cycling, though the nights can be cold and there is a chance of experiencing some rainfall. The winter months see the most rainfall and average temperatures can be around 13°C. The further north you go, the cooler it is.

Another factor to consider when deciding when to take a trip to Greece is the tourist season. July and August tend to be the busiest months so if crowds are not your thing, you might want to think about booking your tour outside of peak holiday times.

Where should I travel to in Greece?

Greece has an abundance of gems to explore but your chosen location will depend on the type of holiday you want and the landmarks and culture you wish to experience. There are archaeological wonders aplenty, with the mainland featuring historical sites such as the Acropolis, Palamidi, Mystras and Olympia.

The Pelion Peninsula is home to mountain villages, olive groves and traditional architecture, allowing you to experience the lesser-known highlights on your trip to Greece.

The Greek Islands offer a relaxing retreat with crystal-clear waters, gorgeous beaches and lush valleys. Walking tours in Santorini, Paros and Naxos provide serene views and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture.

Wherever you choose to visit, you can be sure of unrivalled views, inviting waters and friendly, local communities.

How should I tour Greece?

Greece is a versatile country, with an infrastructure suited to a variety of transport methods. To really get under the skin of this Mediterranean delight, experience a trip to Greece by bike, boat or on a walking holiday. These allow you to discover hidden gems, such as isolated beaches, panoramic views and village atmospheres.

Of course, it’s up to you how you see this beautiful country, but you’ll get the most out of your trip by travelling on one of our Greece tours off the beaten path.

How long are your Greece tours?

Our Greece trips are all 7-9 days long, whether you’re exploring the beautiful secret paths of Vikos-Aoos National Park on foot, trekking through the stunning forests and coastal paths on Evia, or taking a cultural journey to learn more about Ancient Greece. Whatever you decide, you’ll be bowled over by this beautiful nation’s epic landscapes and rich history.

Are your Greece trips guided?

We believe that having an expert guide on hand can only enhance your holiday. You can rest assured that they’ll know the country better than anyone, but they’re not only there to show you the way. They’ll give you some fabulous insights into local life, traditions and customs, as well as pointing out largely undiscovered beauties that lie away from the more well-trodden paths.

How expensive is a trip to Greece?

Our Greece tours vary in cost depending on the itinerary and the length of the trip, but you can expect to pay between around £800 and £2,000. Most of our trips include all accommodation, food, transfers, activities, guides and taxes. So, the only other expenses are flights and any local items you choose to buy.

Our customers find that it’s well worth spending that bit extra to really get the most out of the time in the country and to have the expert knowledge of local guides.

Once there, local costs are fairly reasonable and many travellers find it’s cheaper than many other European countries, though this depends on the exact destination. Popular tourist resorts and locations are likely to be more expensive than more remote areas.

What should I wear in Greece?

Greece in general has a fairly casual dress code, so it’s a good idea to pack for the weather and your chosen activities. Keep clothing light with T-shirts, shorts, dresses, a hat and comfortable shoes. The only exception to this is if you’re visiting a cultural or religious site where you might be required to cover shoulders and knees. In this case, it’s wise to carry extra layers such as a wrap or pashmina and trousers or a longer skirt.

If you’re travelling outside of the hot summer months, pack a lightweight waterproof jacket and take a jumper for those cooler evenings. If you’re embarking on a walking or cycling holiday, take appropriate clothing such as long-sleeve tops and shorts made from breathable fabrics.
