Lost for 1700 years, Pompeii is now a UNESCO World Heritage site as the perfectly preserved remains give us an amazing insight into life in a Roman city, complete with bathhouses, bakeries and homes - some of which are still have walls adorned with detailed frescoes. You may take some time to explore the site independently but we recommend opting for a detailed tour accompanied by a local guide which can be hired locally for approx. €10pp depending on the group size. In the afternoon we head to the famous volcano that looms over the million inhabitants of Naples, Mt Vesuvius. The vehicle will take you at an altitude of approx. 1000m and from there to the crater you will need to ascend on a path which is approx. 150 meters long and quite steep in places. A local guide will then take you on a short walk along the rim of the crater and he/shewill explain you the fascinating history of Vesuvius and its volcanic activity. We return to the hotel by bus in the late afternoon. Please note that in case of adverse weather conditions such as fog, storms or heavy rain the local authorities may deicide to restrict or prevent access to Vesuvius. We may also have time to visit the small farm owned by the same family of cheesemakers. We then depart for a visit to vibrant Amalfi, which was popular with the British upper classes in Edwardian times. The large Duomo dominates the town with its bright coloured tiles so typical of the region. We have a few hours to explore the wonderful historic centre and alleys before taking an interesting tour of the Paper Museum, which celebrates the long-established paper making tradition in Amalfi. The guide will explain how the Amalfi paper was once made and you will also have the chance to experiment it yourself, using some of the ancient paper making machines which are still in working order for demonstrations. We then make our way back to the hotel and enjoy a pizza-making class before dinner! Run by the warm and welcoming Acampora family, the Hotel Due Torri is well known for its great local cuisine, providing authentic dishes of the Campania region as well as fun pizza-making demonstrations. All rooms have en suite facilities, air conditioning, TV with international channels, and free Wi-Fi.A limited number of superior rooms (with facilities including Jacuzzi bath, power showers, and fridge) are also available for a supplement payable pre-departure. The village is generally quiet and provides a relaxing contrast to the busier towns by the sea.On occasion, if the hotel is full you might be offered (upon booking) to stay at an alternative accommodation located within walking distance from the Due Torri. Guests staying at alternative accommodation will still make use of all the facilities of Hotel Due Torri, including the pool and restaurant.

Reviewed August 2018 Phillip HeapPompei and Amalfi Coast A great trip well organised. On the family trip, but with a teenager she was a little board. Very suitable for young children. Felt the walk was too short for adults around Vesuvius crater, so that was disappointing. Capri was spectacular, but again the tour around the island was very short, so you felt you didn't full see the caves. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Pompei was sensational. So was CapriWhat did you think of your group leader? I thought he was superb for adults, but not necessarily for kids. Very helpful and sociableDo you have any advice for potential travellers? Check carefully. Not a lot for teenagers. I chose the trip specifically for that reason, but nothing for them to do. The adult trip, walking, seem to have a more adventurous trip. This family trip is for younger children, my daughter, age 14, didn't enjoy it much. Make sure there are lots of other travellers the same age, otherwise they will be bored in the evenings, nothing to do in the village

I am sure that our experience and access to places you would never be able to reach are down to him. The pizza making was brilliant and the kids even joined the chef to cook our dinner one night! Thank you Exodus but more so thank you Eduardo. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Lunch in an old farmhouse on the walk of the Gods. Only accessible by foot or mule.
