Africa is a vast and diverse continent made up of stunning landscapes and skylines pierced by imposing peaks, such as the Atlas Mountains, Kilimanjaro and the Drakensberg Mountains, so it’s no surprise that walking holidays in Africa are popular with adventure seekers. Mt. Toubkal, located in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and standing at an impressive height of 4,167m, is the highest peak in North Africa.

The ascent to the summit is undoubtedly hard going but the rewards exceed the challenges. As well as being treated to magnificent views of the surrounding valleys and peaks on Africa walking adventure holidays, you’ll also encounter the local Berber people and learn about their culture and traditions.

Another iconic destination for walking holidays in Africa is Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak on the continent, which reaches 5,895m. Although the climb to the summit isn’t technically demanding, it does require stamina, determination and acclimatisation. There are various routes to the summit which steer you through diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to barren alpine deserts. The sense of accomplishment once you’ve reached the summit is incomparable.

The Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and you’ll find a range of trails and hikes that meander through picturesque valleys, where ancient rock art gives you a glimpse into the past. Wildlife lovers will be in their element at Kruger National Park as it’s home to the famous Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as many other species. Our two weeks in Morocco were truly memorable, with a wonderful mix of history, culture, stunning landscapes, and unique local experiences. From exploring the ancient medinas to riding camels in the Sahara and sharing meals with local families, every part of the journey offered something special. Our tour leader, Hassan, was exceptional. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine care for the group made the experience even better. We also enjoyed the company of our fellow travelers, making new friends and sharing stories along the way. A fantastic way to experience Morocco, and a trip we would highly recommend!

What an incredible experience from start to finish! This trip exceeded all our expectations.

Frank was an fantastic guide who made the whole trip run seamlessly, alongside incredible local wildlife experts who knew exactly where to go to give us the most extraordinary wildlife encounters. There are plenty of game drives at different times of the day, so we had plenty of opportunities to see different animals and experience the bush in different ways.

The accommodation was fantastic, full of character and incredibly comfortable with all our group’s rooms having a terrace out to the pool. And the food provided was delicious – with plenty of it!

Another real highlight was the Panorama Route, which completely took us by surprise. The scenery was breathtaking and added another incredible dimension to the trip.
