Incredible cycling holiday

This holiday was simply amazing. We cycled through three incredible countries supporter by a wonderful leader Roberto and his team. Everything was so well organised from the very moment we arrived and were welcome with a cold beer, to the very end. We were a bit unlucky since we managed to hit the first hurricane in Costa Rica in about 175 years. However Roberto and his team ensured we were moved to a safe place and could carry on with a plan B. This trip was incredible, so much fun and a great adventure. Recommend it very strongly!!!

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many inspirational moments on this trip, it's hard to pick just one. I think everyone should go and pick their own :)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roberto was simply fantastic. He and his team worked incredibly hard to ensure we were all safe and had a lots of fun. And we did!!! Roberto was very professional and had our safety in my first and always ensured we were enjoying ourselves. He always waited for the last person so everyone could cycle at their own pace. Special thanks to Roberto and his team during the hurricane Otto where they took care of us so diligently!!! Exceptional leader and a wonderful team!!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Although extensive cycling experience is not required, I would recommend to do some cycling preparation for this trip.

Spice trails of kerala

Well organised and led. A large number of additional activities and good variety of food

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking in the Western Ghats

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent, well organised, good sense of humour, reacted to money crisis in India with practical and innovative counter measures. Provided many high quality additional activities.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to enjoy the basic camping. Inspirational and attention to comfort

Spice Trails of Kerala.

I enjoyed this trip very much; the accommodation was of a high standard throughout. I paid the single supplement and had a tent to myself on the camping days, this was very acceptable. However those sharing would have to get very close to each other. The walking days are described as moderate but I thought a couple of the walks would more accurately be described as hard or strenuous, particularly as the average age of the group was probably in their sixties.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of the second highest point in Southern India. The temples at Madurai. The night on the Houseboat - I would have been happy with two nights.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was very knowledgeable and was able to identify much of the wildlife. He always kept his cool and remained calm throughout the trip. Despite the extra pressure he must have been under due to India's demonetisation policy, i.e. the 500 & 1000 rupee notes were no longer acceptable currency and the shortage of lower value notes as a result.

Petra & Wadi Rum cycling

Good trip but hampered by the weather of very strong winds. This curtailed the cycling but remaining safe was a priority & taken seriously by our guide. It also made it colder than I was expecting however very dry with no rain

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra, being able to take time exploring on our own

Thoughts on Group Leader

Weal was very knowledgable & looked after all the needs of the group admirably. Also keen for us to have fun & enjoy our holiday

Advice for Potential Travellers

The cycling is not that flat several hills & some wonderful descents

Fantastic Cuban Adventure

We have just returned from Cuba having done the Cuban highlights cycle & a beach extension in Cayo Levisa. This is a fantastic trip with very pleasant cycling, trips to places of cultural & historical importance & some down time.
The bikes were much better than we expected, the cycling was relaxed & not too demanding & the motorists very mannerly. The roads were quiet. Full backup with the bus is there at all times which is great. It was nice to be able to leave all our things on the bus while cycling.

Most Inspirational Moment

Trinidad is a beautiful city & cycling out of the city towards Playa Ancon was lovely. Staying in Casas Particulares in Trinidad & Cienfuegos was a highlight. Cycling with a great group & an inspiring leader made this an unforgettable holiday.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Freddy was simply amazing. Kind, courteous, really interesting & generous with his time.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you want to really see Havana, spend an extra day or two there as time there on this trip is limited. Internet etc very limited so warn friends & family that you may not be in contact & then relax & enjoy the freedom from technology. If you have time, the beach extension to Cayo Levisa is very relaxing. Gel saddle pads are useful for the bikes & bring a water bottle.

Vietnam Adventure

A wonderful whistle stop tour of beautiful and vibrant Vietnam. A very varied itinerary in a country with a fascinating history and culture, fantastic food and drink and amazing landscapes. The Vietnamese were so hospitable and kind .It was my best holiday yet- I loved it all.

Most Inspirational Moment

Exploring Hanoi and Saigon Halong Bay Cycling through paddy fields and past water buffalo and egrets

Thoughts on Group Leader

The guide was very professional and conscientious and his passion for his country was infectious.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for a very busy holiday.

Spice Trails of Kerala

Just like previous Exodus trips everything was done to make our trip special.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking in the Western Ghats, truly a magnificant experience.

Thoughts on Group Leader

For a great holiday you need a great product and India has such a diverse offering and in order to be able to get the most from your experience you a good team of people to support the many needs of a diverse group of people, this we had in abundance. All of this needs a great leader and in Santosh Kumar we had one of the best and his organisational skills cemented the whole trip together. Added to this his knowledge and enthusiasm make him an exceptional guide who went out of his way to find extra added attractions during our days of travel. During our visit the Indian government made the decision to withdraw all 500 and 1000 rupee notes causing national chaos but Santosh took this all in his stride without any negative impact on our trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring some Gin, after two weeks and our case three we got fed up of inferior wine and bored with beer.

Jordan - the Holiday That Just Keeps Giving!

The trip ‘A Week in Jordan’ is an experience that can leave even the most literate and verbally gifted (‘gobby’) at a loss for the right words to describe it.
I was part of a 20-strong group that seemed to get on unusually well. There were some seriously seasoned travellers amongst us, yet we all came to the same conclusions, the same thoughts: time and again the destinations proved to be far larger and far grander than we had imagined.
Jerash (an introductory diversion I believed) turned out to be a wonder in itself. Huge in expanse, so intricately detailed in parts, and as yet still so unexplored.

In the West the word ‘Biblical’ is often used to describe something enormously significant – in Jordan ‘Biblical’ sites are dotted all around – like puzzle clues to a hidden image too big for the mind to grasp. The landscape becomes more than background. It becomes a fiery crucible on which you can imagine humans struggling and suffering just to stay alive through key moments in History. This is a land that does not seem ‘tamed’ by humans. I suspect this quality is a factor in why so many of the world religions have had their genesis nearby?
But that’s enough of the florid prose. Let us skip to the star of the show: Petra.

No images, no movie scenes (and there have been many) could ever capture the mind-blowing scale of this site. The famous ‘Treasury’ (as seen in Indiana Jones, Sinbad, The Mummy etc.) is just a particularly pretty door… that leads into a house of ancient wonders. The two days spent here are a lifetime investment.

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra viewed from the Hills above.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Zuhair is (officially) the 8th Modern Wonder of the World.

Advice for Potential Travellers

1) Bring a sleeping bag ig going late in season to Wadi Rum (I stupidly did not, and died of cold). People cried. 2) Learn a handful of phrases (Thankyou etc.) - Jordanians are much more into politeness than most. 3) Try to convince yourself that you LOVE the 4.30 alarm call. Then go back to bed.

Exodus were great

I booked this once in a lifetime experience with Exodus in the hope it guaranteed quality and they didn’t let me down. Our leader, guides and group were phenomenal. The walking was a little easier than I imagined and the scenery more spectacular, BUT dial down your expectations of the tea houses…they were variable. Some were totally fine, but a couple were barely heated. If you are hardy enough to put up with cold mornings and nights, book this trip without hesitation. I personally had no problems with altitude sickness and I didn’t take pills – much of the credit for that must go to the excellent pacing of the guides. It’s necessary, but the acclimatisation does drag the walking out over a lot of days and the way down is a literal anticlimax. That said, everyone should make this journey at least once in their lives.

Most Inspirational Moment

The top of Kalla Pattar + the Khumbu icefall + Tengboche (spell check?!)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fun, friendly, faultless. Team Tenzi!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack plenty of warm clothing in the winter. It was colder than I expected at the higher altitudes. Oh and LOTS of chocolate!!

Excellent Combination of Vietnam and Cambodia

Brilliant captivating exciting and hectic.

Most Inspirational Moment

Wandering around the ancient temple ruins of Angkor Wat in awe at such an ancient civilisation.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Thanh was a very knowledgeable and inspirational group leader obviously extremely proud of Vietnam his beautiful country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you try the popped rice in the Mekong Delta.
