Best Way to See Vietnam!!!
We had an absolute blast on our recent cycling tour of Vietnam! We had a great group with diverse and interesting backgrounds with a common love of cycling and touring. Great weather (albeit a tad on the warm side), great food, enjoyable cycling, an excellent leader and team….. and a lot of good laughs! An absolutely fantastic way to see Vietnam, both the scenery as well as how the people live.
Most Inspirational Moment
To me the Vietnamese people were a wonder. Industrious, friendly, enthusiastic! They have overcome many obstacles over the past 50 years or so and are moving forward rapidly! The country is incredibly beautiful and lush and a pleasure to cycle through.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Long was and excellent leader for the group. A font of information about his country! Very knowledgeable about agriculture, industry, history, cuisine and just about any other topic we raised. His organizational skills were great and he looked after all of the details and requests made of him! And a great sense of humour too! Bravo all in!
Advice for Potential Travellers
A few long stretches on the bus but nicely broken up and still a great way to see the country. Don't get sun burned! Be prepared for the heat. But don't be hesitant to book! Great food, great people.

Treasures of Sicily
Brilliant introduction to glorious Sicily. So much to see, so little time, BUT a fantastic introduction covering everything from nature to culture, to ancient temples, wonderful scenery and fabulous food.
Most Inspirational Moment
I don't have just one. I loved everything, but especially the incredibly well preserved antiquities, including from Greek and Roman times.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Salvo was exceptional. Very hard working, making sure we all finished with a strong sense of appreciation of his Island and a desire to return. He was calm, able to adapt to unpredictable changes in weather which involved changes to itinerary. He created the perfect balance between bringing us to places and leaving us free to explore.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Get fit before you leave! It is a magnificent journey with fabulous, full days, which demand some level of fitness. Pack layers covering yourself from warm, to hot to rain.

A Great Walking Tour
A wonderful week of walking with great guides, interesting co-hikers, very nice accommodation in a very lovely setting.
Most Inspirational Moment
There were two things that inspired me; first the beautiful panoramic views of terraced vineyards in the Douro Valley and second; learning a great deal more about the history and culture of this area and Portugal overall.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Nuno was a wonderful guide and was capably assisted by Ricardo. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was incredibly helpful in choosing meals and wines. He kept us interested and informed and his knowledge of each of our locations meant no disappointments at all. Both Nuno and Ricardo were personable and very helpful. Great guys!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Do it! It's fun, it's educational and you'll probably meet interesting people on the trip.

Tuscany: The trip of high points
What a fantastic week! Stunning scenery, a great variety of walks, a lovely place to stay, good food and tremendous company. Oh, and the weather put on a big smile for us too (apart from the last day) and possibly the best guide in the business. It really would be difficult to think of a way of beating it.
Monte Prado and Monte Sumbra were good to ‘bag’ but walking some of the ridges and through the beautiful forests added a different dimension as did exploring some of the local settlements on the valley day. The Golden Eagles on the first day, Alpine Choughs on the second and the Fire Salamander later in the week were pretty good too.
What brought it all together was the way the group gelled, good banter, a few ‘wind ups’, people looking out for each other and a very relaxed atmosphere, a perfect combination for a great trip.
Most Inspirational Moment
No one thing. The overall experience of the mountains, the group and our guide made the whole package an inspirational experience - that sounds a bit over the top but it is how it was on this trip.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Exceptional and brilliant. Sara Bull is undoubtedly the best guide I have met. Her huge experience of and passion for mountains, adventure, the local area and people together with her enthusiastic sharing of these with the group added considerably to what was provided by the natural environment of the Garfagnana region, and the team at Braccicorti. She made time for everybody and did far more for us than could or should be reasonably expected of any group leader. Her assistant, Elvis the dog, was also a star. Whilst on the hill she adjusted things to cater for the needs of both the group as a whole and individuals at the same time. When faced with decisions forced by changing weather conditions she was decisive but also took time to explain her decisions. Knowing that Sara was guiding would be a significant factor in deciding on the next trip.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Our group was great and everybody was more than capable of completing the walks but do look carefully at the trip notes about distances and terrain.

Watching the eruptions from the top of Stromboli and running down Mount Etna through the knee-deep ash.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Frederica was well-organised, flexible, fun, patient and caring.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Please consider your fitness level before undertaking. You don't need to be super fit, but everyone will enjoy it more if you're able to walk up hills at a reasonable pace.

Chianti Walking and Wine
A great mix of walking, wine tasting and touring Tuscany towns. Scenery just as advertised.
Most Inspirational Moment
I liked San Gimignano the best of all the towns we visited.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Liz Proctor was an exceptional leader: she really went out of her way to do everything possible to help everyone who needed it. Safety was a top priority and she was genuinely concerned for everyone's wellbeing.
Advice for Potential Travellers
I am not used to walking on rough paths and was unable to train properly ahead of time. I managed but struggled. If you have health issues, do the training beforehand as suggested on the website to get in proper shape.

There and back a gain..........a trekkers tale
From the bustling red city of Marrakech to the peak of Jebel Toubkal (and back), this trip far exceeded my expectations. The days in Marrakech that bookend the trek offer the opportunity to explore some of the main attractions such as the Jardin Majorelle, and, of course, the medina with its labyrinth souks and the famous Djemaa el Fna main square. Both are within walking distance of the hotel, which is of a good standard with very friendly staff (they will print your boarding pass for you, thankfully!),though i would recommend taking a taxi to the medina unless you are confident of the route. Most taxis hold 3 passengers and as a rule of thumb 10 Dirham per head is a good price. The trek offers a wealth of stunning and varied scenery and trails, from lush valleys and terraced fields irrigated by the rivers flowing from the High Atlas to the snow capped peaks of the mountains themselves. A highlight was the lunch on day 1 of the trek taken in a meadow. The trail is a combination of mule paths, rough, stony terrain, and scree ( and snow at the higher altitudes when we visited in early May). I have never used walking poles but these would have been very useful on days 4 and 5 when ascending and descending the optional high pass trek and Jebel Toubkal. Ice axes and crampons were needed for the Toubkal climb at this time of year and i found these great fun- it was the first time i have ever used them, but will not be the last! There was a great range of age groups and abilities in our exceptional group, and our tour leader Hassan and additional guide Mohammed who joined us for the Toubkal ascent managed the pace extraordinarily well, ensuring everyones welfare and giving everyone the best possible opportunity to achieve the summit- everyone who went for the summit made it. The views from the summit will stay with me from some time. Toubkal is tough and was my first high altitute summit for some time, and serves as a great foundation for some loftier peaks.
Our tour leader Hassan was magnificent. We had to divert from the itenery on day 2 which resulited in a comfortable stay in a gite rather than camping due to snow making a high pass on the traditional route inaccessible for our mules. Hassan expenmined the diversion in detail and our acclimatisation did not suffer. This was symptomatic of the whole trip which was flawlessly organised from start to finish. The food was amazing and supplied calories just when they were needed. What makes the quality of the food even more amazing was that for the most part it was prepared in a tent by a chef that had traveled with us . No-one was made ill by the food. I am full of respect for our tremendous guides, chef, muleteers and the magnificent mules that formed our team in Morocco and who do an exceptional job.
I highly recommend this trip for anyone with a sense of adventure, perseverance and with a reasonable level of fitness. Camping is basic so perhaps not for those who need their creature comforts, but it all adds to the adventure in my opinion and i wouldn’t change a thing. Afternoon tea and delicious pancakes at the campsites were an unexpected treat ( if your group saves you any……protecting them from the wasps indeed!)
Most Inspirational Moment

Thoughts on Group Leader
Exceptional. Very good communication skills, safety conscious with a great understated sense of humour.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Pack a pen in your hand luggage to fill in the entry forms, and ensure you stick to the times set by your leader for departure as getting through to the departure gate can take some time due to checks.
Walking sticks are highly recommended, and a good travel pillow for the tents. Always agree a price straight up before getting in a taxi and 10 dirham per head is standard for taxis, or 30 dirham for a normal taxi that takes three passengers. Hand gel/ wet wipes are a must for the daysack.
