Cycling Adventures for 2020 Dolomites Centre-Based Cycling Cycling in the Dolomites Cyclists may be surprised to learn you can take to two wheels to see these jagged, silver-white limestone mountains – without having to struggle up endless hills. This leisurely-moderate ride is perfect for linking the lakes that sparkle like jewels between the mountains, quiet winding roads and pretty cycle paths line up scenic spot after scenic spot, with views that just keep coming – a huge payoff, and all for relatively low effort. You’ll stay in the scenic Hotel Tschurtschenthaler, where the window boxes are always in brightly-coloured bloom and the indoor swimming pool and spa is always waiting at the end of a days’ ride. Take me there: Dolomites trips Cycling the Prosecco Hills The Prosecco Hills Following on from the huge success of our Walking the Prosecco Hills, comes the cycling debut for this underrated, gorgeous region of Italy. Spend days cycling the gently rolling hills and picturesque vineyards of Italy, then spend the evening unwinding with a glass or two from the very same producers. A real highlight is the opportunity to meet the producers themselves, who have been producing prosecco here for generations. There’s time for city hopping too, with a visit to beautiful Venice included. Take me there: Cycling the Prosecco Hills Cycle the Balkans The Balkan Coast This brilliant border-crossing biking adventure is ideal for anyone wanting an insight into the Balkans. These nations have only recently opened up to outside visitors, and cycling is one of the least intrusive ways to explore the four nations of Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Albania. You’ll crisscross quiet country roads, meeting locals and seeing first hand the subsistence farming culture which still exists in these rural areas. There’s time too in cosmopolitan Ohrid with its glamourous lakeside charms. Take me there: Cycle the Balkans Cycle Mexico Cycling in Mexico Discover beautiful Mexico by bike. This exciting new adventure covers the very best of Mexico’s stunning natural beauty and fascinating ancient history. One day you’ll be cycling to the foot of stunning Chichen Itza, a stunning archaeological wonder full of intrigue. Another day, you’ll immerse yourself in the clear waters of a cenote, a natural sinkhole of turquoise waters with a sandy-gold coloured cave overhead. It’s a surreal and stunning experience, swimming between the stalagmites and stalactites – truly unforgettable. Take me there: Cycle Mexico Cycle Costa Rica & Panama Chestnut Mandible toucan This is a ride of iconic status. You’ll ride both sides of the Central American Land Bridge, and be able to dip your toes in both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean over the course of the trip. There’s the famous Panama Canal to visit, and the thermal hot springs at Arenal Volcano to relax in with a cocktail at the end of the day. If that’s not enough to tempt you, there’s plenty more: you’ll cycle through two countries, through incredible biodiversity with included wildlife viewing on the Tenorio River and incredible jungle riding where all creatures great and small seem to appear from nowhere. Keep your eyes peeled for lazing sloths and colourful Toucans. Take me there: Cycle Costa Rica & Panama Cycle Chile & Argentina Cycling in South America It’s almost impossible to put into words the scenic splendour of this South American cycle. The sheer scale and variety of the landscapes should inspire you alone: vast, shimmering white salt flats, golden glowing deserts, deep dramatic ravines and lush tropical rainforest alive with a cacophony of wildlife. Off the bikes, you’ll see even more highlights, including the altiplano lagoons and the El Tatio geysers. Take me there: Cycle Chile & Argentina Cycling Vietnam’s Mekong Delta Cycling in Vietnam Vietnam is a wonderful country to explore by bike. It’s a popular form of transportation here, so you’ll be in good company cycling the backroads of the area known as the Rice Bowl of Vietnam for its prolific agricultural output. Cycling is an ideal way to get off the tourist trail and see a side of Vietnam that few ever see. You’ll get a glimpse into every day rural life, with visits to local floating markets and seemingly endless riding through picturesque rice paddies. The highlight for many is a homestay in the Mekong Delta. This 10-day cycling adventure is the perfect introduction to Cambodia, giving you the chance to experience both the rural backroads and villages with the iconic Khmer temple complex Angkor Wat. Few manmade structures have rival Angkor Wat, both for its overwhelming scale and force of will and its intricate, artisanal relief carvings, making it simultaneously delicate and domineering.
