Adventure Holidays in Tortuguero

On the sun-drenched Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, the remote town of Tortuguero, is a place to let your cares drift away into the ocean waves as you sip on a refresco. But there’s so much to see and do you might not be able to sit still for long.

The national park boasts high rainforests, marshy lands, canals, and is also one of the most important breeding grounds for both the green sea and leatherback turtle. In the nesting seasons (April to May and July to October), it’s possible to see groups of turtles laying eggs in the sand at night. You can also rent a canoe and explore the canal – just watch out for the odd crocodile or two…

overall very good. Itinerary was good and varied – couple of places I would certainly not return to but a couple that were spectacular and I would happily go back to.

Gillian Spells Discover Costa Rica

A comprehensive tour of the country, packed with activities and really memorable views of the fantastic wildlife

Rebecca John Costa Rica Adventure

This one week tour is 50% wildlife spotting and 50% long travel days. Wildlife is colourful, diverse and fairly easy to spot, but the experiences were hindered by unseasonably cool and wet conditions – unexpected, but nonetheless possible in February. Walks were often spent sheltering under the hood of my waterproof jacket and an appreciation of the Costa Rican landscapes was limited. Road journeys between hotels were longer than expected, often due to heavy traffic. The optional excursions were OK, but not great value for money. Unfortunately, Costa Rica’s high end tourist industry has become expensive and quite commercialised.
