Just do as the leader says

Amazing Cuba!!

A fantastic trip – does exactly what it promises…gives you all the best Cuban highlights and the best way to see them is by bike! The cycling was harder work than I was expecting, but that suited me (and most of the group I think) just fine, so was a mixture of sight seeing, mojitos and exercise – so a great balance overall. Cuba is a wonderful country and I’m so pleased to have been and seen it this way. We stayed in some nice hotels and the guest house (Casa) experience in Trinidad added a bit of extra variety. The food is nothing special, but the rum and coctails more than make up for that!

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling along the coast roads, around the mountians and through towns and villages - rewarded by either a dip in the Caribbean sea or a hotel pool.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jose was a great group leader. Very knowledgable so acted as a fab tour guide, not just a cycle group leader. Learnt alot from his information and experiences as we travelled around.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A must do trip. If you have the time and energy I'd consider the 2 week trip as once you get there, you'll want to stay longer and see more!

Finnish Wilderness Week

This is a fantastic holiday for those who enjoy the active outdoors and like to try something new. The range of activities included mean that you are bound to find something you like – if not all of them. A good balance of instructor time to free time meaning you can choose which activity you’d like to try more of. Warm, comfortable accommodation, great local food and plenty of it and great hosts. Beautiful setting. The whole holiday far exceeded our expectations. This was a full on week of activity that excelled in every way.

Most Inspirational Moment

Although it was hard to pick only one, the two hour dog sledging trip with the huskies in Riisitunuri National Park was mine and my husband's highlight of the holiday. This was included as part of our holiday and there is the option to have a longer trip on one of the free days. The trip was exhilarating and magical and the snow covered scenery was from another planet. The dogs were obviously well cared for and were given affection by their owners when the dogs looked for it. There were truly many memorable moments that will stay with us forever and be spoken about often.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Martti was a fantastic group leader. His level of instruction was set at the right level and he has a broad base of knowledge. He always had a smile on his face and nothing was too much trouble. Undoubtedly he contributed to our enjoyment of the holiday in a significant way. The rest of the team were great and all knew what was going on and were able to give advice if Martti wasn't around.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The kit that is provided is excellent. I used all of it in the -28 temperatures, except I wore my own hat because it was slightly thicker - that said many others wore the hat provided and were warm enough. I also used my own baselayers and a Buff/snood for keeping my face warm - some used balaclavas. All of the kit dries easily in the rooms, thanks to the underfloor heating. You only really need to take casual wear for the evenings - the dining room is warm but can be variable so I'd recommend thin layers. Boardgames/cards are provided for evening entertainment. There are no TVs on basecamp and no music playing - for us a real bonus.

Highly Recommended Highlights Tour

Great cycling tour in a unique and welcoming country. Cuba seems to have a first world health system (thankfully not tested on this trip!), second world bureaucracy and third world agriculture. Best of all, though, is the warmth and old-fashioned civility of the people. Not to mention the climate!

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to list them all. Getting to the top of the big hill on our last day of cycling felt great. We had wonderful meals at Alberto's in Trinidad and at the Restaurant Moneda Cubana in Havana. Although the quality of the casas particulares in Trinidad was very variable, Lopez and Jumele looked after us royally.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jose was a great Cuban character with an endearing habit of laughing at his own jokes - so surprisingly and raucously that the rest of us generally fell about laughing at him. He was very informative and shepherded us gently.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take some diocalm or something of the sort: quite a few of the group had dodgy tummies by the end of the tour.

The Three 'C's

If you like cycling, culture and curry you will not find a better holiday on offer than this one. It has everything. Good cycling routes through spectacular scenery, many opportunities to learn about Sri Lankan culture, wall to wall wildlife and mouth watering food. There is so much more to it than initially meets the eye when viewing the trip notes.

Most Inspirational Moment

The road to Nuwara Eliya was awesome (albeit a challenge on two wheels) and the stay in the Hill Club once it is reached a real treat. It was like stepping back to be one of the privileged few in colonial days. The streets and markets of Kandy and Galle are so full of life and energy, and the beach at Ahangama at just reward at journey's end.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Travelling with Suresh is like being led by 'Superman'. What fantastic guy; with so much energy, joy for life and a burning desire to give his clients the best possible holiday. In addition to the expected activities he arranges so much more. A cookery demonstration, numerous special meals served in stunning locations, a hill walk, a constant supply of welcome refreshments and the benefit of his wealth of knowledge about his beloved country and its history and customs.. When I unfortunately suffered an accident he obtained the best possible medical treatment and his determination enabled me to continue with the tour as opposed to being on the next flight home which I initially envisaged. I cannot praise him highly enough.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't fall off your bike and break your arm. (No the cycling is not extreme it was just one of those things!)

Vietnam Adventure - January 2015

This was an amazing holiday, so interesting and varied, a lovely country to see. Travelling from North to South, we saw so many different places and none like each other. Lovely food and hotels, also Homestay and a night on a boat which was lovely, and a very nice group to spend the two weeks with.

Most Inspirational Moment

It is impossible to pinpoint as there were so many inspirational moments - pretty Halong Bay and Mekong Delta, crazy and busy but interesting Saigon with the cyclotour which was great fun, the fascinating Cu Chi Tunnels and various temples.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Bien was a great leader, very interesting and a great sense of humour. Very enthusiastic and informative and managed not to lose anyone!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take clothes for all weathers, travel light and enjoy yourself.

dobbiaco

excellent trip despite less than ideal conditions at base hotel

Most Inspirational Moment

Alexu was definitely amongst the top 5 leaders that I have encountered in many years of experience of x/c ski not only with Exodus, but also with Waymark

Patagonian Highlights (AAA) Jan 2015

A great trip. Patagonia is a large area but this trip hits the highlights- Fitzroy, Petito Moreno glacier, Torres del Paines NP, and Ushuaia. The minibus trips from El Calafate to Torres del Paine (1 day) and from TdP and Ushuaia (2 days) are long but there are stops for pictures, short walking, food so not too bad. Our group agreed that hikes should be considered as moderate- both have parts that aren’t bad but both have parts that are steep and rocky so more challenging.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Mt Fitzroy and the Torres del Paine for the first time. The boat trip on Beagle Channel. Petito Moreno glacier calving ice. Also the group we had was fantastic and clicked very well. They were very supportive of everyone on the more challenging portions of the treks. The group made the trip even more special.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Xavier was great! Arrangements were flawless, needs were met, and he always was available for issues. One member of our group become ill and had to go home and Xavier took care of everything. If you get Xavier as your leader, you will be very happy.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for changeable weather. Parts of the hikes (treks) are moderate so make sure you are prepared physically for them. If those parts are too challenging, you can always stop and go back down and wait for the group to continue the hike (trek). Taking it slow is no problem. Local currency and US dollars are taken almost everywhere for optional trips and food. For taxis in Buenos Aires, use local currency. When leaving Argentina, if you depart from Ezeiza International Airport, arrive earlier than normal at home as check in can be a bit slow.

Backroads of Sri Lanka Review

Superbly varied trip, based around fairly tough cycling but also includes temples, beaches, wildlife and great chances to meet the locals. One or 2 of the hotels are quite basic, but the clue is in the title – you’re out in the sticks so occasionally have to make do without some facilities. Saying that most hotels were excellent.
The people were extremely welcoming, the food excellent and so overall it was a great value holiday. I will definitely go back

Most Inspirational Moment

I enjoyed all the World Heritage Sites, especially Lion Rock at Sirigaya, but also got a great sense of achievement in completing the hill day up to Nurawa Eliya and the long day down from Ella in 35C heat !

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suresh Baranda was excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable. He fixed any issue really quickly and clearly had the respect of all the hotels and the three man back-up team. He was very clear on each day's cycle and set a balanced pace to ensure we all could complete every day I rated him 10/10 on the local evaluation form which says it all

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do some training if you get chance - the middle 3 days are tough and you'll probably enjoy it more if you get a bit fitter

Cross country skiing in Dobiacco

This is the 7 th time we have done cross country skiing in Dobiacco, as we love the Dolomite scenery and the extensive choice of trails. Unfortunately this time there was no snow in Dobiacco! However, our leader had researched available areas of snow for us, so we were able to ski every day.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cross country skiing along white ribbons of loipe meandering through green meadows, surrounded by mountains. - most unusual! We also travelled to a high area, to ski in sparkling snow fields under an intense blue sky.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex planned our holiday very well despite the lack of snow. He found snow for us every day! He was a friendly leader, with lots of interesting tales to tell of his adventures.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are unlucky enough to have insufficient snow for skiing, don't worry. Dobiacco and the surrounding area is still beautiful without snow, and there are endless possibilities for excellent walks. Take your camera! After a days skiing, I recommend a delicious Italian ice cream and a hot chocolate (really thick!) in the cafe opposite, then a swim in the hotel pool.
