A good family holiday to Sri Lanka. We certainly saw many aspects of the island, though due to the group size at times it felt more of a bus tour than a cultural experience
Fear going to sigyris rock
He coped reasonably with a large and varied group. Birthdays for part members were well felt with. He did not manage to engage the whole group at all times.
I'd advise going on a smaller group. Ours was too large
Level 5 week nice introduction to walking in the dolomites nice centre based hotel with facilities. Relaxed atmosphere and lovely surroundings. Challenging walks but not to difficult or technical ideal trip for relaxing short break in beautiful area
Tough but rewarding climb up to Monte piano.

Had dreamed of going on safari for many years so made the most of this opportunity by choosing camping and 4WD so I could get as close to nature as possible. The animals arrived immediately – not many countries you encounter warthogs, baboons and rock monitor lizards transferring from airport to the only hotel on the tour! Loved being close to animals in their natural habitat with a guide who knew his stuff. Elephants, lions, cheetahs, gnus, giraffes, a variety of antelopes, 2 different types of zebras, black rhinos – yes, but our guide spotted the small stuff: over 120 different bird species; a skink; beetles; desert rat; ground squirrels; scorpions – fascinating creatures. Tents are comfy enough; the bush showers n toilets work well enough; good bush cooking. Was sad to return from the semi-desert to the game reserve campsites in Etosha. In the bush we viewed the Perseid meteor shower in the blackest sky, millions of stars I’d never seen before, the Milky Way with a bunch of jackals cackling round the hills!
There were 2: 1) tracking for black rhino we spotted 2 not far from the track (in Palmwag Concession). We kept downwind and followed them on foot to get closer. In a few minutes we were standing on rocks observing these rhinos eating breakfast just 25 feet from us. 2) following a young male elephant in the dry river bed at Hoanib, the bushes stirred and more appeared. In a few minutes we were completely surrounded by 16 elephants with 2 calves and 2 juveniles. We stayed calm, quiet and the herd stayed calm with us - I blubbed! :)
Our original guide was a good cook n storyteller. Due to a vehicle fault that developed on Day 1, our guide got it sorted swiftly and 2 4x4 replacements appeared, along with a 2nd guide to drive our group of 3. A bird expert and from the local tribe (Damara), his knowledge of the flora and fauna added to our enjoyment of the safari.
Water is highly precious in Namibia. Shower with less; expect cold water in the mornings; don't expect 2 showers per day so pack wet wipes for early morning starts. You're provided with juice/instant coffee/usual tea at breakfast/lunch or late afternoon. If you want different teas, juices or alcohol, the guides tell you where there are shopping opportunities, so make a list. We also bought extra fruit and dried fruit/nuts - everyone enjoyed healthy snacks on the road. Take a good camera for safaris - I did my research before going. Chose a bridge camera with max zoom so no trouble changing lenses in a very dusty environment (60x zoom). Delighted with the results - great memories. Buy 2/3 memory cards, not just 1 mahoosive memory card (if lost/stolen/damaged, you lose all pics). Take a powerbank to recharge camera/phone - recharged via USB in the 4WD. Enjoy each day for what it brings - if you wish it away hunting only to snap a leopard, then you miss all the other nature. Breathtaking landscapes too. For this trip you don't need walking boots - trainers or trekking sandals are fine for walking/ light scrambling over rocks at Twylfontein and Waterberg Plateau.
This trip is as amazing as it looks. The safari parts were amazing on their own and then you have the gorillas to look forward to. Watching the lions, elephants, rhino, elephants, zebras, cheetah and so many other animals in the wild is additive! This was my 10th safari trip and it didn’t disappoint! The gorillas experience in Rwanda was even more amazing then I had imagined and I felt privileged to spend an hour with them, watching them in the wild and being astounded as a baby gorilla stroked my leg.

Card games for the long drives make the traveling days speed by. If you have a small extra bag that's good for the camping days so you can take a small bag into the tent (especially if your sharing or not paying the single supplement).
There really aren’t words for the experience of standing on the rim of an active volcano at night and watching it explosively erupt. It is a full frontal assault on all of the senses. It starts with a brilliant flash of orange light followed closely by a boom that you feel as much in your chest as you hear with your ears. Then the pyrotechnic fountain of lava congeals into bombs that pound into the ground around the crater with a resounding chorus of heavy thuds. This is followed shortly by a shower of ash and a wafting cloud of sulfurous vapors. To say it is awe inspiring does the experience a serious misjustice. I can’t recommend this trip highly enough. Our guide was excellent, the treks were well paced, and sights were magnificent.
Unquestionably standing on the rim of the Stromboli volcano and watching it erupt.
Nicoletta was great and did a good job of setting the pace of the treks.

This really was roughing it for 4 days and nights wild camping and canoeing, 2 days in a fly camp with comfortable beds and showers/toilets and 1 night at Zambezi Breezers with a Bar! An awesome trip with great people and a fantastic guide and assistant guide.
Watching and experiencing wildlife as it should be. Hippos, elephants, antelope and deer, warthogs, a variety of exotic birds, just amazing. Being outdoors and on the river, experiencing sunrise and sunsets which photos just can't do justice. Waking up and looking out of your tents to see wildlife wandering nearby. Drifting along with the river, soaking up the sun, breeze, atmosphere, scenery was simply bliss.
CB (Cuthbert) was truly amazing, he worked like a trojan, was knowledgeable, looked after us all extremely well, kept 12 novice canoeists safe and all with a brilliant sense of humour. His assistant Best, whilst quietly spoken, worked extremely hard and with CB made sure we were very well looked after.
There isn't much time to re-arrange bags and it could be dark when you arrive so pack enough for 4 days in one bag and pack light, you don't need loads of stuff. Be prepared for long transfers.
This trip is non stop.. you see and do so much with a fun, knowledgeable guide. There is nothing we were not happy with…brilliant experience

This trip was extraordinary in every sense of the word. The diversity of the landscape seen in Uganda is breathtaking, and coupled with the various forms of wildlife we were so close to in the wild made this trip unforgettable. From our arrival at the airport we were made to feel welcome by our brilliant guides and although there are some long car journeys on some very bumpy roads, they are all worthwhile once you arrive at the fabulous accomodation. The food is phenomenal and the staff at each lodge are attentive and greet you with a smile when returning from a long day of travelling or searching for exotic animals. We managed to spot a leopard, lions, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, gorillas, chimpanzees and so many species of primates and birds that I lost count! Truly a once in a lifetime experience.
Definitely reaching the mountain gorillas for the first time when trekking. It is truly awe-inspiring to be so close to such a magnificent and rare creature, and their calmness towards the human visitors means photo opportunities are plentiful. Additionally, another source of inspiration for myself was seeing children while we were driving carrying heavy bags, but once hearing or seeing the car a smile lighting up their face to wave. The warm nature of the Ugandan people is another aspect of this country I will never forget.
David was a superb leader and with his partner Laurence I am sure we were graced with the most knowledgable pair in Uganda! Both men were wonderfully funny and kept spirits high while also being informative of the areas we were visiting.

Very good exposure to the cave dwellings, trullis and olive groves in the Puglia region. Marinella was an excellent guide who provided us with the background and context in a clear and simple manner. She also took care to introduce us to the variety of foods available in the region – which we may have missed out on if this care was not taken.
"Inspirational" is a difficult word! I greatly enjoyed seeing the trullis in Alberobella, the ancient olive groves and the very nice towns and villages we passed through.
Excellent knowledge and communication ability. Very patient and accommodating. She arranged for us to eat excellent dinners though some of these were more expensive than I would have planned for. I suggest that she should advise participants about the options available for dinner before proceeding to make bookings on her own.
a) August is very hot! and the tour in this month should be avoided, if possible. b) The distance from Matera station to the hotel is significant and your suitcase will need to be carried most of the way - so travel light! c) Fresh orange juice is widely available and can be an inexpensive and refreshing pick-me-up.
