Bathing in the wonders of Japan

Superb leader, luxurious onsens, testing hiking, dramatic biking on superb bikes, more trains than Michael Portillo, and raw fish with an occasional snail to eat

Most Inspirational Moment

Trains that arrive and depart on time from an absolutely spotless litter free station

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ayako was a superb logistician, very knowledgeable, an excellent communicator and a good friend

Advice for Potential Travellers

Seize every onsen opportunity - especially being buried in hot sand and also lying on a bed of herbs in a roasting steamy cave!

The best bike trip you'll do. From someone whose done a few

As an Exodus staff member (quality control Director) – whose done 6 different cycling trips – you wont get better than this one. The combination of superb local leader& driver, quiet cycle routes and stunning southern Italian towns is almost perfect.

Most Inspirational Moment

We all loved the first 2 rides. On the quietest of rural backroads between Matera and Alberobello, and Alberobello and Ostini. Topped off by a welcome stay at a rural Masseria with large gardens, a great pool and lovely resturant.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alessandro Tau is one of the best. Charm, personality, humour and care that we get the best experience. He also happenns to be a qualified sommelier (knows the best local Primitvo wines) and archaeologist!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book it - if possible aim for early / late season to avoid some of the holiday traffic that builds into June to Sept.

Highlights of Albania

An interesting country to visit: mountainous scenery; archaeological sites; mosques and churches; enjoyable food and wine; and friendly people.

Most Inspirational Moment

Berat and Kruje are attractive cities. The Bunk Museum in Tirana, which lays bare the oppression under Enver Hoxha, is sobering. Some beautiful icons, especially in the museum in Korce.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Artur, our guide, was very diligent, ensuring that every part of the trip ran smoothly. He provided lots of information about a country which he loves and went out of his way - and was personally generous - to try to ensure that everyone enjoyed the trip. Artur picked good local restaurants for optional group meals. Our driver, Diu, drove very safely and, despite having no more than a few words of English, was very much part of the group - not least through taking, and circulating, many excellent photos.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We went out a day early and came back a day late, so that we could get direct BA flights. On our extra day at the end, we had a beautiful walk up 2,000 feet to the top of the mountain behind the hotel to visit the sanctuary there - a good option if you have the time and energy.

Best cycling tour - so far!

This trip came well reviewed from many other travellers I have met on other cycling trips so we had so see what it was all about – expectations were exceeded in every way. The cycling was challenging but rewarding, the team flawless, most importantly, it provided an immersive experience in the very best Sri Lanka has to offer that you simply can’t get from seeing the country any other way.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to list, but cycling through the tea plantations and having dinner at a locals house were special standouts.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suresh was THE most professional, personable and attentive guide we have ever had. They have all been fantastic, but he took it to a new level, bravo.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you want to be exposed to everything this country has to offer then - book it and go!

North Morocco - full of surprises

The trip covered alot of ground and gave a real insight into the different dimensions of Northern Morocco. We had a great group and group leader. Some thoughts on potential changes to the itinerary:
* would have liked more time in Tangiers on the 2nd day to explore the medina; the morning felt rushed.
* Loved Chefchouen, but felt that it would have been good to leave for the mountains after breakfast and taken a picnic. The mountain environment and refuge were special and it would have been good to have had more time and done more walking there
Fes was a great highlight to end with, both from the place itself and the riad
Transport back to the airport was efficient and well organised

Most Inspirational Moment

Hussain 11 mosque in Casablanca - the beauty and craftsmanship was out if thus world Also our time on our own when we arrived in Casablanca. It was Ead and to see all the crowds out celebrating by the mosque on the Sunday afternoon was amazing

Thoughts on Group Leader

Aman was very knowledgeable, especially about his home town Chefchouen. If we caught him out with a question he couldn’t answer, always researched and came back. He was well organised and made the trip relaxed and fun.

Amazing South Korea

South Korea is an amazing country to visit as a tourist having: modern high quality, across the board infrastructure; beautiful scenery; cherry blossoms every where in season; fascinating historical cultural sites; first class museums; unique and vibrant food culture both in restaurants and on the street; excellent coffee; welcoming, friendly and helpful people; signs and explanations in English on public transport and at tourist sites; safe, crime free environment.
A fascinating, inspiring and memorable trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many inspiring moments on this trip. Which to choose? The cable car ride to the summit for impressive mountain views, especially in the early morning mist, and the later walk in the Seoraksan National Park was beautiful. The overwhelming feeling of peace and tranquillity at Haeinsa during the temple stay, especially after the bustle of Seoul. Attending the morning chanting and the the conversations over tea with one of the monks. This gave wonderful insights in to the practice of Buddhism in Korea. The flag raising ceremony at the UN Cemetery in Pusan was very moving, as by that stage of the trip one appreciates the miracle that is modern Korea wouldn't have been possible without what this place signifies, "we engrave your names in our hearts with love, we inscribe your names in our land with appreciation," said one inscription.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The Group Leader, Kim Hyun Jin (Michelle), was exceptional. The trip was meticulously planned, briefed and executed throughout to provide an across the board immersive experience of Korea ancient and modern. Her depth and breadth of knowledge was amazing. Michelle provided orientation, options and recommendations at every stop so that we could choose where to go and what to see during our free time. She would provide an optional guided option for every meal so that we could sample all the local specialities of food and drink and was always on hand to explain the food, how cook it for the frequent and varied at table barbeques, and how to eat it Korean style. It was a wonderful culinary experience. Michelle, thank you for making it such an enjoyable and memorable trip for us all.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The choice of the Kukdo Hotel as the start hotel was excellent as the airport bus stops right outside making for an easy transfers. I went a few days early before the start of the trip and it didn't take long to work out how to travel on the subway and get around Seoul prior to the start of the trip. There are good restaurants within walking distance from the Kukdo Hotel. A lot of the restaurants have digital ordering screens on each table with most having an English language option, which makes ordering easier.

Excellent trip taking in Sri Lanka’s culture, scenery and wildlife

15 days touring holiday packed with activities showcasing the rich and immense history, culture and wildlife of Sri Lanka with an outstanding local guide leading the trip along with his driver crew. We visited temples, ancient cities, waterfalls, tea plantations and saw an immense amount of flora and fauna, and had a wide variety of amazing food every day. Travelling around the south of the country we saw stunning landscapes and got to experience the real Sri Lanka as we cycled and hiked through villages and national parks.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of Sigiriya. I’d been nervous about the final climb and had great support from members of our group and the sense of achievement I felt at the summit and the breathtaking scenery gave me such self confidence. This whole trip has opened my eyes to a whole new way of travel.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader, Ruwan, has a vast knowledge of plants and trees and could identify and spot birds and wildlife. He engaged with the whole group and it was a pleasure to get to know him at mealtimes. He always made sure were fully prepped for our activities and shared the history, culture and traditions of Sri Lanka as we travelled around the country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just book it!! ….. and when you do embrace and enjoy every moment and experience …. and take lots of photos so you can remember and relive all those special moments!

A very special week

This was my first Exodus trip and I was already excitedly researching my next trip a couple of days in. As someone with a busy job I found having everything smoothly organised very relaxing and it meant lots of care and expertise went in to ensuring each day was delightful and our time was really maximised to explore the area and enjoy ourselves. Our group truly became like a little family for a week; we had a lot of fun and I felt very supported by the kindness and warmth of everyone. The walks were spectacular and the location of the hotel is perfect for facilitating varied walks and activities. The food was a real highlight; fresh and authentic and different each night.

Most Inspirational Moment

During the Path of the Gods, which was truly stunning, I dropped my phone down a steep cliff. The group was very supportive and tried to help me find it but it had clearly dropped out of reach. Our wonderful group leader Veriano took lots of pictures of the remote site where it was dropped and then organised for his friends from mountain rescue to come and recover it! Hours later they abseiled down the side of the huge cliff edge and found it 20 metres down, unharmed! They then organised a relay of people to return it to me; an incredible level of service, generosity and care, and an unforgettable story!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Veriano was exceptional - I thought a group tour might feel a bit like school but he was very funny and relaxed while also skilfully and subtly ensuring everyone was looked after and supported.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I have always wanted to go to Amalfi coast and I honestly can’t think of a better way of experiencing it. You stay in a quiet mountain village which feels really authentic and charming and seriously good value, away from all the busy tourist traps. Yet you get to really see and experience the beauty of the coastline and the colourful mountainside towns by foot and by boat.

Move away from the hustle & Bustle of Japan and explore the Lesser known Islands - A proper adventure!

Immerse yourself in the various Onsens & Public baths, cycle, Hike and explore using mostly public transport! This trip had a little bit of everything, you felt like you were getting to see the real Japan, away from the bright lights. Having said that, we still saw some larger towns such as Nagasaki, Fukuoka (at the end of the trip) and Osaka (just one night at the start) so you do feel like you have scratched the itch of everything whilst not hanging around in one place for too long. After a busy day, you could relax in the hotels hot baths or swimming pool, it does take a little getting used to as a Brit who isn’t used to Onsens but once you do it’s an amazing post day relaxation. We saw the start of the Chery Blossom season having gone in late March early April so it was great seeing them bloom the further south we travelled. The food was so fresh and reasonably priced too – Overall as my first time travelling Japan, I absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling blissfully along the Shimanami Kaido, we had stunningly sunny weather which definitely helped but the route, although along some roads (can't be helped sometimes) was a lovely change of scenary! The hotel we stayed at the previous night was also a highlight for me, the Hotel Cycle which was a great introduction for what was to come.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ayako was amazing, she was very informative, went out of her way to ensure we had restaurant options every night and that all our needs were catered for. She was proud to show us her country and also curious to learn about ours along the way.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a level 3 trip, so it's busy and the cycling and hiking days can be tough, depending on your fitness level. You mostly pack up a little bag and send your larger bag on to the next hotel so pack light, and be prepared to unpack a big bag and re-pack the bags. Sending the big bags along takes some time so even though you might be at a hotel for two nights, you could only have your big bag for one of those nights before you have to send it to the next hotel - Be prepared, I took so many clothes I didn't need so less if definitely more on this trip.

Discovery Costa Rica

overall very good. Itinerary was good and varied – couple of places I would certainly not return to but a couple that were spectacular and I would happily go back to.

Most Inspirational Moment

Quetzal sighting and Esquinas lodge .

Thoughts on Group Leader

Overall good. very personable, good information and history. Only not so good was the forest walks with 16 people were not conducted as well as they might have been - as it caused some some discontent with the people at the back etc . Some extra excursions- over priced and not worth it.

Advice for Potential Travellers

dont bother with the night walk at Monteverde. Some walks are hilly and uneven terrain - so not suitable for people with any sort of mobility issues.
