Walking Croatia: Islands and Mountains

A wonderful experience with a kind, respectful and experienced hiker and guide. Enough varied terrain and experiences. One hotel was problematic with the shower, but other participants didn’t have this problem. The last hotel was the best with more comfort and amazing breakfasts….a treat worth working for by the end of the trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hikes with views of the Adriatic. Group meal spots were well chosen.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Vana was terrific! Tuned in to group and individual needs. Explained things when asked and at meals etc. She's an excellent hiker, avoided problems with advanced planning. Hikes were varied and very doable. A bit more history on the bus would be interesting , but I think that comes with years of leading tours.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Enjoy, plan to have what you need, poles, layers, enough water etc. Additional local money is useful in smaller towns.

A fascinating trip

We took this trip in September. From the moment we arrived we knew we would have a good time. Our guide Artur made us feel very welcome, with his knowledge and humour. I didn’t know what to expect with Albania, only that it was a beautiful country and it was opening up for tourism. Despite some negative reports of crime etc, we wanted to go before it got to busy.. the history of the county is fascinating. There is so much to see and learn and Artur was a font of knowledge. We became engrossed in the history, the different periods of time with castles and ruins to it up back up, to the present time.
Our driver Diu was brilliant at traversing the very high and winding roads. He was very helpful to us all and great at taking group photographs.
We loved the food and there was a great choice, all freshly cooked. The hotels were very comfortable.
And the views. After each view, we didn’t think they could get better, but the did.
A wonderful place to visit. We loved Albania. I could write more, as there is so much to say about Albania.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many inspiring moments, from the welcomes we received, views and the fight from communism. And seeing the vision of Albania in the future. Driving though the mountains, seeing these hugh edifices were awesome and inspiring.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Artur, our group leader was very inspiring. He has great knowledge of the history of Albania, some of which affected his own family. He was very safety conscious and made sure we were comfortable. He recommended great places to eat, mainly as a group and arranged little treats for us. I was unwell at one time and he went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I couldn't have asked for more. He was very patient and answered all our questions fully., sending us more information via WhatsApp. He had a great driver in Dion, who worked well with Artur. Artur is a great asset to Exodus. An excellent guide, with a great sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take sturdy shoes, as there are many ups and downs, steps and worn, shiny cobble paths. Be prepared for beautiful views.

September

The accommodations were unacceptable.

Most Inspirational Moment

I enjoyed the people on the trip

Thoughts on Group Leader

He did a very good job

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would not suggest the tour based on the mediocre hotels

Fantastic Highlights Tour of Albania

I encourage anyone who wants to learn more about Albania to take this cultural tour. I hope you are lucky and get Artur as your guide and Diu as your driver. These men are pros. I loved traveling around the country to visit several UNESCO World Heritage sites, small towns, the national forest, and the coast line. Albania is changing so quickly as it commercially develops. You can still experience the old Albania through its traditional costumes, dances, and small towns.

Most Inspirational Moment

Standing at the panoramic viewpoint before the National Park and watching a paraglider sail off into air!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Artur is a true professional. He loves his country and shares all the ways that it has changed since the times of the fascist government and communist regime. I learned so much. He had a wonderful way to draw our group together so we felt like family. I also wanted to mention our excellent driver (Diu) who made us feel so safe in the way he drove the mountaineous roads.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You’ll spend some long days on the bus. You’ll need to get Albanian currency or euros to pay for your meals and drinks in the small towns. They often don’t take credit cards.

Wild about the Wild Algarve

This was a wonderful trip which exceeded my expectations in many ways: the diversity of landscapes, the variety of walks (cliffs, headlands, dunes, rocky paths) and the knowledge and care of our local guides.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many inspiring moments along the trail: the powerful Atlantic waves relentlessly crashing against towering cliffs and the view of the coastline disappearing into the distance were powerful memories for me.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leaders were exceptionally proud, young Portuguese men who inspired in us, an understanding of this unique part of the world by sharing their knowledge and love of their country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

September and October or alternatively April and May would be the most comfortable walking months. Pack comfortable, worn-in boots as some paths are uneven and be prepared to get down and get dirty on some slopes.

On top of the World

What an amazing week we have had in the French Alps! It was the first time we have travelled with Exodus and would certainly travel with them again. So well organised from start to finish, from the information given beforehand, the pick ups, accommodation, hospitality, food and hikes. All amazing! The quality of food produced by Carolina and Seb was top class.
Our guide Adrian was so kind, funny and knowledgeable of this area he made hiking so enjoyable.

Most Inspirational Moment

The scenery was absolutely stunning everywhere we went.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian

Advice for Potential Travellers

The hikes are varied and not as hard as you would think for the alps.

Discover the Baltics

Traveling through the Baltic states was far more than a vacation—it was a journey into the heart of living history and local culture. From the moment we set foot in Tallinn, we were swept up by the city’s medieval magic, walking cobbled lanes beneath ancient spires and discovering lively cafés tucked away in secret courtyards. Each evening, as the old city glowed against the sky, it felt like we’d stepped into a fairy tale.
Riga took us by surprise with its dramatic Art Nouveau architecture. Every building told a story in swirling stone and ornate detail. The Central Market—with its enormous Zeppelin hangars stuffed full of local cheeses, smoked fish, and pastries—was a sensory adventure, giving us a taste of everyday life. There was a youthful buzz to the city: music on the streets, laughter in cozy bistros, and a spirit of creativity everywhere. Spending two evenings at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, one of ballet and the second seeing the opera “Turandot,” were fantastic (and affordable).
Our time in Lithuania deepened the adventure. Vilnius radiated warmth and quiet beauty, its baroque churches and the quirky Užupis “independent republic of artists” neighborhood, with its constitution posted on mirrored panels in multiple languages, invited us to linger and explore. Strolling along the river, we reflected on the resilience woven into the region’s history. Beyond the city, Trakai Castle floating on its island was straight out of a legend.
Looking back, this adventure has left us not just with memories of beautiful places, but also a greater understanding of the region, its history, and the spirit of its people. For anyone looking for a travel experience brimming with culture, warmth, and unforgettable moments, the Baltics—especially with a guide like Andrius—are an absolute must.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most eye-opening moments came when we learned just how challenging and dangerous life was under Soviet control. Our visits to the KGB Museum and occupational museums were sobering. That and hearing first-hand accounts made us realize how precious it is to live freely, and what is currently at stake in the US.

Thoughts on Group Leader

What truly made this trip unforgettable was our leader, Andrius Mazrimas. I have been on many tours and I can say without hesitation he was the best guide I’ve ever had. Andrius combined deep local knowledge, boundless energy, and a fantastic sense of humor to keep the group engaged and inspired. His stories brought the landscape to life, and his kindness made everyone feel at home. By the end, we saw him as a good friend—someone whose enthusiasm enriched every moment and whose passion for his homeland was completely contagious.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take all the walks and adventures suggested.

Hiking Mont Blank

Amazing experience with a very knowledgeable guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

The best moment for me was the first climb of the week and the view from the mountain. Exilerating!

Thoughts on Group Leader

My leader Adrian was great! Experienced and took care of each of our levels of experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Ensure you are prepared for the steep climbs and tough downhills.

Mongolian Horizons

An amazing trip across the steppes of Mongolia. Each day revealed new horizons and a greater appreciation of the vastness of this remote country.

Most Inspirational Moment

Whilst slightly cliched the experience of cycling alongside running horses was amazing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Bata was an absolutely top notch leader with a great understanding of group dynamics. Always informative, a good sense of humour and a great ambassador for his country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Enjoy the opportunity for a digital detox although a local sim card does appear to work across most of the journey. If happy to wait though there is a chance to connect to WiFi half-way through the trip at a cafe in Tsetserleg. Although wild camping there is the 'luxury' of a cold shower at the end of a day's cycling but take some wipes to freshen up in the morning. The trip in August wasn't as cold as expected but take some warm clothes nevertheless. Take a power bank for your phone if taking lots of photos but there is the ability to power-up devices from the support vehicle or via the mobile generator.
