Viewing elephants on a safari holiday

Safari Holidays

In the Swahili language, the word 'safari' means journey. Our safari holidays will take you to the heart of the action for a journey to remember - whether you're travelling across the wildlife-rich plains and grasslands of Kenya's Masai Mara, exploring the vast ecosystem of Botswana's Okavango Delta by dug-out canoe, or zipping over Namibia’s sand dunes by quad bike.

And the adventure doesn’t end there. On our Uganda and Kenya safari holidays you’ll track emblematic primates such as chimps and gorillas, while our India wildlife tours offer sightings of our planet’s precious few tigers across three national parks.

In Tanzania’s captivating and prolific conservation areas, you could spend time in the presence of tree-climbing lions, elephants and over 400 different species of birds. Cross the southern border into Zambia, and you’ll travel by foot and canoe in the Zambezi valley amongst hippos, crocodiles and more. It’s all out there, waiting to be discovered.

Why not try a tailor made safari adventure?

If you’d like to customise one of our safari holidays for example to fit around certain dates, there’s a good chance we’ll be able to do it. So, if you’d like to celebrate a special occasion in the company of a herd of elephants or on the planes of Tanzania, tell us where and when and we’ll try our best to make it happen.

The Top 5 Best African Safaris

There is nothing out there that can substitute the raw thrill of an encounter with a signature species in its own backyard, be that jungle, plain or waterways.

Whether that’s catching sight of the elusive Black rhino crossing the undulated terrain in the Masai Mara on our Kenya Wildlife Holidays, a Mountain Gorilla cradling it’s young in the misty peaks of Bwindi on our Uganda Wildlife Holidays or see tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth’s National Park during our Rwanda Wildlife Holidays, our trips allow you to admire these incredible creatures in their natural habitat. Take a look at our top five recommended wildlife safari holidays, to ignite your spirit of adventure.

Kenyan Tanzania Adventure

On this trip, you can enjoy exhilarating game drives across Lake Nakuru National Park and visits to the world’s largest unbroken caldera – the Ngorongoro Crater, where you can see Flamingos, leopards and lions coming to quench their thirst. After all the excitement, end your Kenya and Tanzania Adventure unwinding on the white sands of Zanzibar or take a snorkelling excursion to see bottlenose dolphins and green turtles if you’re lucky!

The Zambezi Valley

Sometimes the best way to get up close and personal to wildlife on a safari trip, is to take to the water on a dug-out canoe and this is exactly what we do on our Zambezi Valley trip. On this Zambian adventure, we venture out on a three-day exploration of the Zambezi River, where we may encounter crocodiles basking on the riverbanks, elephants feeding in the afternoon and pods of hippos in deeper water.

Botswana & Zimbabwe Lodge Safari

Crossing from the thundering Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to Botswana, this action-packed itinerary takes you on a spectacular game drive in Chobe National Park – a park best known for its large populations of elephant herds and African buffalo among other interesting species. After we visit the beautiful Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, we head to the Okavango Delta. Home to a vast array of wildlife, it’s not uncommon to come across white rhinos, giraffes and the vibrant saddle-billed stork on the riverbanks.

Tanzania Wildlife Adventure

Aside from embarking on daily safaris in Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park, this trip also shows what the nocturnal species are up to with exhilarating night drives in Tanzania. This trip allows you to enjoy a classic, yet intimate safari experience through the use of a mobile campsite so you can get a front row seat to the Great Migration of wildebeests in season.

Namibia 4WD Desert Safari

Once you’ve witnessed the towering pink sand dunes and petrified forests, it’s the desert adapted wildlife tracking in Namibia that will leave an indelible imprint on your memory. With two days spent in the private Palmwag Concession searching for desert elephants and Black rhinos alongside wild camping near the San Bushman engravings, we also go on an exhilarating 4WD Desert Safari into the Onguma Game Reserve and Etosha National Park a place that’s famous for its watering holes that are known to attract the Big Five.

In focus: Africa

"It’s impossible to forget your first safari. Whether you find yourself sitting at the flood-lit watering holes of Etosha and watching the theatre of the bush unfold as zebras, springboks, rhinos or lions come down to drink; or seeing the sun rise over the ochre sand in Namibia, casting warm light on the vibrant colours of these great dunes; or watching the impossible volume of water thundering over the edge of Victoria Falls; or witnessing the mighty wildebeest migration over the iconic Tanzanian Savannah. And then there’s the Milky Way – for nowhere in the world is the sky quite like it is in Africa. Camping out and gazing at the billion lights is just incredible. Then there's the breathless 'wow' of seeing a leopard in a tree, or spotting elegant giraffes, cheeky warthogs and sage elephants; the thrill of seeing cheetahs on the hunt; and the ‘awww’ moments of catching cubs at play... Come with us, and you will safari like never before."

How long are your safari holidays?

Almost every trip is different to the next, but you could be spotting stunning wildlife for eight to 18 days including your flight time. That’s just over a week of classic safari drives through Kenya, or closer to three in the build up to a special hour in the company of Uganda’s mountain gorillas.

Are your safari holidays guided?

Just like life for many of the incredible animals you’ll come across, it’s better to be a part of the pack. Each one of our sensational safaris take place in a guided group, which is an ideal way to navigate vast natural landscapes and meet like-minded travellers along the way. Your dedicated tour leaders will not only know each area better than anyone else, but the animals too, and will be able to offer you priceless insights into their every movement and behaviour.

If you’d prefer to go it alone or in your own group, we also offer tailor made safari experiences. Speak to our experienced tailor made team about setting up your dream wildlife adventure.
