This was an enjoyable trip. Nothing spectacular, but consistently pleasurable and interesting. Learning about the Bosnia’s past and current conditions from our guide, Boris, who lived through the Bosnian War, was fascinating. The landscapes of Bosnia were also appealing, especially that of Sutjeska National Park. Further, the lodgings were more than comfortable, with the exception of that in Sutjeska, which was, for lack of other options, a Soviet-era experience. The food was excellent, too. Lost no weight on this trip. The only serious hiking on the schedule was the climb of Maglic. Unfortunately, we were not able to do that because of heavy rain and lightning. Thus, I would rate the experience I had as moderate, rather than moderate-challenging. Finally, let me give a shoutout and thanks to the other clients on the trip, who greatly added to my enjoyment.

Sarajevo Trips
Sarajevo is a cultural cocktail formed by various occupying empires. It spent more than 400 years under Turkish governorship, until the Austro-Hungarians arrived in the late 19th century, thus Ottoman and Byzantine references can be found all over the city. And it was here that, 40 years later, the empire collapsed when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, hastening the outbreak of the First World War.
During the 1990s, the city was besieged and on the point of being wiped out. On our Sarajevo tours, we visit the Tunnel Museum, finding out how a hand-dug tunnel provided the citizens with a lifeline during their 1,400 days of isolation. These days, Sarajevo is largely resorted and the Old Town is filled with pretty cafés, squares and churches.

Peter Batchelor Bosnia & BeyondExcellent tour of Bosnia & Montenegro, with its variety of scenery and fascinating history. Organisation and itinerary were very good. The tour was fairly full on, but no early starts or really long journeys. We were quite a large group,17 of us, but fortunately the tour bus was quite spacious and we got on really well. Food was good. Hotels were variable. The tour leader, Fatima, was very good, as were the local guides. As we only had a few hours in Dubrovnik it would have been good to have a short guided tour there.
Amanda Sewry Bosnia & BeyondWonderful locations, spectacular scenery, good variety and a fabulous leader!
