Alan - Toukbal 31st May 2016
Well organised from day one. Met some great people on the ‘team’, including the guide and his helpers. I would recommend this holiday to anyone. But please make sure you are prepared for the altitude. This is not just a physical walk, but also mentally tasking as you have to be aware of where you put your feet all the time.
Most Inspirational Moment
The scenery was outstanding. And just seeing the relief and joy on the rest of the group when they reached the summit of Toukbal.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Hassan. What can I say. If you weren't paying attention to his briefings he let you know and quite rightly. An excellent leader who made sure everyone was safe during the various ascents, resting when necessary for the slower walkers. Always willing to chat about his life and culture, a pleasure to listen to.
Advice for Potential Travellers
As above. You may see some walkers wearing trainers, this is not advisable, especially as a lot of the paths are over lose shale. Walking boots must be worn. A reasonably good level of fitness is required, so don't think a walk around the park with your dog will be sufficient exercise. Go for some long, fast walks with a back pack on.

Chianti Wine & Walking
A good balance of walking in the countryside with visits to towns & cities for that cultural fix. The wine tasting was something I would not usually have done but I learnt from it & found it enjoyable

Stepping up (and down) in Italy
If you like steps this is the one for you! A very enjoyable and relaxing trip to a place of stunning scenery and hugely welcoming people. The walks were varied and certainly showed off this part of Italy to full advantage with Tre Calli and the ‘walk of the gods’ giving particularly spectacular views. The village of Bomerano is on the plateau high above the sea, several walks end up at sea level and the only way down is via steps – thousands of them! Our group was a very mixed bunch, 6 nationalities and widely varying walking ability but they meshed together really well and their company added to the overall experience. The hotel was fine but don’t be fooled by the photo of the pool! The cookery demonstrations by the hotel chefs were great fun. Meeting some of the local people – the owner of the ‘Crazy Burger Bar’ in Bomerano (it doesn’t serve burgers but he will produce what ever you want) and his infectious and enthusiastic hospitality was something very different.
Most Inspirational Moment
Undoubtedly walking the rim of Vesuvius on day of day of beautiful weather and long, long views was the highlight for me but there were many others that came close. It would be impossible not to be bowled over by the scenery of the Amalfi coast or the sheer size of Pompei.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Martin was a really good leader; knowledgeable, enthusiastic, patient and with a fine sense of humour. He dealt with all the questions and queries and managed the group walks very effectively (not easy with such a wide range of abilities and experience to consider). He clearly enjoyed his work and made a significant contribution to our enjoyment of the week.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Read the trip notes carefully and think whether the level of walking is right for you - the distances are not great but there is a fair bit of up and even more down - a lot on steps. Some people struggled whilst others were raring to do more. A pair of walking poles is certainly a very good idea.

Walking in Sardinia - May 2016
This trip has the right mix of walking and free time. Two days walking, a sightseeing day and a free day and then two more days walking. As we arrived early on the Saturday and departed in the afternoon the following Saturday it felt like a longer holiday than a week. I loved the countryside, olive trees, farmland, mountains, incredibly beautiful beaches and crystal clear water, fascinating caves, lovely people, very kind and hospitable people. The family who ran the hotel were very welcoming and obliging and made our stay very special. The food was excellent and we were very well catered for.
Most Inspirational Moment
I really enjoyed the walk to the Gorruppu Gorge and the walk up to Tiscali. Lovely shady paths through trees and great views. Also enjoyed the clambering over rocks. I really enjoyed the visit to the Grotta del Bue Marino. We went by boat on our free day and the cave is amazing! On the same day enjoyed a fish lunch and Vermentino (white) wine in the restaurant at Cala Gonone, overlooking the beautiful bay.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Alexis was cool! A fun personality and very polite and helpful. Kept everyone well motivated and was always attentive to individual's needs and kept the group together. He helped organise other activities for the free day and was always around if needed.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Sardinia is a lovely island. May was ideal for walking, not too hot and lovely weather. Bear in mind that the walking is on quite stony paths so have robust footwear with you and socks that wick.

Walking the Great Wall
What a great holiday! From Walking the Wall, the food, Beijing, the amazing acrobat show, eating in the ‘hutongs’, seeing the Terracotta Warriors and travelling on the overnight train (on the Xian extension) – I enjoyed it all and can’t enthuse enough about the entire trip. I’ve never been anywhere ‘out of the ordinary’ before this holiday or travelled with Exodus and I would totally recommend this particular holiday and the company.
Most Inspirational Moment
It is difficult to pick just one inspirational moment on this trip as there were many! One of the best moments though was stepping onto the Wall for the first time as it truly is as amazing as it looks in all the photographs. Other memorable moments were seeing the Terracotta Warriors, the sights in the cities of Beijing and Xian and the food - totally delicious - and mastering chopsticks!
Thoughts on Group Leader
The group leader for the main trip was called Jerry - he was knowledgable, experienced, had a great sense of humour and looked after the group really well. He made a great trip into a fantastic trip. Ling looked after us during the Xian extension (well worth doing) and again, another great local guide.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Some of the accommodation was quite basic and most of the beds were fairly firm; so travellers should go with an open mind and don't expect luxury. The bedding however was always clean and fresh and the accommodation hosts were always welcoming.

Cycle the Baltics
A fascinating glimpse into the history and culture of these countries. The cycling is leisurely with frequent stops and comfort breaks. The scenery is varied with forest, coast, beach and countryside. The towns and cities visited have fabulous architecture and superb restaurants. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather for the whole trip and to experience the Jazz and Blues festival at Klepida, not to mention the best tour leader ever.
Most Inspirational Moment
The most moving experience of the trip was being invited to join a young man who was about to propose to his girlfriend in the main square in Vilnius, Eventually 1000 people assembled and witnessed the proposal. She accepted his proposal and everyone was so happy!!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Vaida was the best tour leader I have ever had. She was caring and considerate and always concerned for everyone in the group's welfare. She organised everything well including the restaurants which she joined us at each night. Her knowledge of each of everywhere we visited was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Leave your hairdryer at home they are provided everywhere.

Totally wonderful
This is a really special trip. Everyday you see a different part of the scenery, which is incredible. From pastures full of flowers (at this time of year anyway), to high mountains with snow, to spectacular gorges, it’s hard to overstate how beautiful this area is. The guide, Alvaro, is outstanding – knowledgeable about seemingly every subject to do with the area (flowers, birds, history etc), fun, caring, well-organised and sociable. The hotel is also lovely and the food is very good.
Most Inspirational Moment
Walking into the high mountains for the first time, ending up in a high valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks on all sides. I didn't know the Picos had scenery like that.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Alvaro is the ideal leader, for all the reasons already stated. He is also really careful about everyone's well-being and safety, which is really important. His advice every morning about whether to take waterproofs, fleeces etc, how much water to carry was really helpful too.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Book this trip!

Walking The Great Wall
What a fabulous holiday, off the beaten track, seeing a bit more of real China. Can’t recommend it enough. We had a great group of people, a mix of singles and couples and we all got along well. I thoroughly enjoyed the overnight train experience to Xi’on too. The walking was at a good pace and the hills and steps a welcome challenge.
Most Inspirational Moment
The Great Wall itself. Until you walk on it and experience it up close, you cannot possibly appreciate just what a feat of engineering it is, and to think it was built so many years ago without today's modern equipment.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Jerry was a treasure. He was very helpful and knowledgable, he fit in well with the group and would happily chose him as a guide again on another visit to China should the opportunity arise.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Yes, the trip notes sat soft bags which it right, but make sure they have wheels still! A couple of drop offs from the coach involved a walk, not long for most but with 20kg of weight after a day's walking would not suit everyone.

Outstanding trip!
I enjoyed this trip even more than I had hoped – the country is so interesting, the scenery glorious and the food wonderful! Our guide was proficient and professional and ensured the whole week provided fun, variety and (optional) challenges!
Most Inspirational Moment
For me this trip was more than "moderate" so managing the undulations (!) was a personal achievement...especially the final day. There were so many "wow" moments in terms of the scenery and I stopped often to capture that perfect shot! Day two as we cycled toward lunch provided amazing mountain views and the coastal rides above the sparkling seas were just magnificent. Loved the guesthouse stays and the trip to the geothermal pool
Thoughts on Group Leader
Junid was an excellent leader - he was very calm and measured and at all times a consummate professional. I liked the fact that he stressed each day that this was a vacation and we should travel at our own speed, enjoy the ride and take photos and stop as we wished. This was perfect for me - I like to travel in that way!
Junid's knowledge of his country and its history was impressive and his love for Albania shone through!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Visit Albania - it is well worth it! The people were friendly and welcoming and the countryside unspoiled and beautiful. Spending money goes a long way and the meals that we had were fresh and delicious on every occasion and perfect for vegetarians and pescetarians.
