Walking in the Prosecco Hills

Pleasant walking, late September sunshine, plentiful food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Finding a Prosecco vending machine on the side of a hill in the middle of nowhere. Italians have their priorities right!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Bob knew the area very well and outlined each day in great detail beforehand, so we knew what to expect. We had a free day in Venice at the end of the tour too (as our flights were coming back in the evening rather than the usual morning flight) and he went above and beyond the call of duty, taking us to Venice airport, putting our luggage into storage, then getting us a return bus ticket into Venice, before accompanying us there and showing us to the water taxi.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for vast amounts of food at the hotel! The chef is a lovely old guy in his 80s who seems to see it as his duty to come and pile more food onto your plate at every opportunity. As most meals are 3-4 courses, there's no reason for seconds!

Inca Trail and the Amazon

Great trip made even better by a series of brilliant guides. To promote the trip to an Excellent rating I would suggest getting better, rainproof tents for the Inca Trail and giving us another tent to go and sit in after our evening meal – just for a while – rather than having to go to bed between 730 and 8pm. The porters clearly wanted to get in to the dining tent to get to bed and we felt guilty, so never let them linger. We also would have preferred and earlier flight back to Lima from Puno on the last day…we didn’t get to the hotel til 1am, but then had to up early for long flights home in the morning. It spoilt our last day together with our group. Must reiterate tho, apart from these 3 things our two weeks were fantastic. The jungle, the Inca Trail and Lake Titikaka were spectacular.

Most Inspirational Moment

Lots of inspirational moments. Fantastic views in the Andes, wonderful sights and sounds in the jungle, the hubbub of the cities and the calm of Lake Titikaka.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cesar was a fun and efficient group leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a really strong insect repellent. My Jungle Formula didn't work at all.

Great Wall of China

This trip was to celebrate my 50th Birthday and was my 8th trip with Exodus. I vowed after my son then aged 9 went ill suddenly 15 years ago (and is now severely disabled ) that life is just a rehearsal and I want to see a different country every year now before I die! I hopefully will have many many trips with Exodus as would not use another company now. The trip was fantastic and extremely well organized!

Most Inspirational Moment

Going up the Spider Wall on the first day of walking and also seeing the Terra cotta Warriers.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jerry our Group leader was everything you would want in a leader. Extremely well organized and felt very safe with him. One of the best leaders I have had with all my Exodus trips.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't the massage - they about kill you!!!!!

The Lost City of Choquequirao

One of the best trips I have done. The food was the better than on any previos trek.

Most Inspirational Moment

The earthquake resistant Inca stoework.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very experienced and professional

Advice for Potential Travellers

The walking is steep with extended periods of height gain and loss. Make sure you have done some training. A pair of poles help the knees considerably. The Lake Titicca (spelling?) extension is worth doing.

EBC Sept / Oct 2016

A fantastic trip to challenge you mentally and physically with the culmination of being at the highest mountain in the world!

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to base camp and staring in wonder at the ice fall and surrounding mountains!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lakpa Lama Sherpa was simply awesome - his many years of experience made for a really wonderful trip. Nima, Sonam and Min Mar were also fantastic guides who where supportive, friendly and highly knowledgeable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You will shower more often than you think - bring shampoo / body wash! Fresh undies each day are so worth the minimal extra packing. Make sure you really do take the $ recommended - it's amazing how quickly things become expensive. Be mentally prepared to be delayed getting out of Kathmandu to Lukla - we were delayed by 4 days and it was painful! Bring shoes and comfy socks to wear in the lodges in the evenings - loos are often dirty and feet get cold! Hand sanitizer, baby wipes and talcum power are all your friends. Waterproof layers, waterproof gloves and a warm hat are a must.

Walks of the Cinque Terra and Portofino

We have done many Exodus walking holidays, usually Grade 3. This had the usual country paths and ups and downs but included the chance to see and swim in the sea every day and to travel on local trains. The base town was not too touristy so we could get a sense of real Italian life. A single centre in a family-run hotel made for a relaxed and comfortable time

Most Inspirational Moment

The views from the cable car and as we descended into Positano were beautiful. Local people were friendly and some of the restaurant meals were superb (all were good). The wine tasting evening was outstanding.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suzy's long experience as a leader really showed. She was knowledgeable, considerate and she made every effort to ensure that each of us had a good time. Although she was not Italian, her command of the language ensured that everything ran smoothly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We had excellent weather after the first day but some paths were quite steep and somewhat insecure in places after recent heavy rain. Walking poles were very useful both for stability and to ease pressure on our knees on long ascents/descents.

Imperial China

This trip was far better than I expected. We saw and experienced so much of the people and culture of China and it was truly an adventure.

Most Inspirational Moment

Its difficult to choose just one inspirational moment because there were many. Although my first sight of The Great Wall was awesome and will last in my memory for a long time. The Terracotta Army, The Pandas, beautiful scenery, beautiful river cruise, exciting overnight train journey, good food etc etc.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Dragon was absolutely brilliant and was very knowledgeable. We all agreed that he made a great contribution to our tour. He looked after all of us so well. Thanks Dragon

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't pack too many clothes. Limit yourselves to the minimum weight because you have to carry your own cases (up flights of stairs in some situations). Read the notes !!!!

Bugs, birds and whales.

Our 2nd visit to Costa Rica, and it surpassed our expectations in all areas.
The itinerary is very well planned to give an experience of the great biodiversity of Costa Rica from both coastal areas, Caribbean and Pacific, up to the high regions of the beautiful Savegre.
The lodges were excellent, Drakes Bay Wilderness Resort is particularly amazing – including the ‘interesting’ boat ride out to it.
If you enjoy wildlife…..it’s definitely the place to go.

Most Inspirational Moment

The 5am howler monkey alarm clock...... seeing so many humpback whales and dolphins so close to the boat.....the amazing frogs..... and who couldn't forget the green sea turtles coming out of the sea to lay their eggs...

Thoughts on Group Leader

Johnny was extremely enthusiastic and passionate about all things Costa Rica. He gave a running history, geographic, political and social commentary during the drives which was extremely useful. The group had quite a mix of interests, and he was able to manage them to keep everyone satisfied with their own experience. If there were any queries that he didn't have the answer to, he would find out and give the answers later. He also had a great eye for spotting flora and fauna on the walks, nothing was too small or insignificant for us. He was great fun too, and always smiling, nothing seemed to faze him!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Getting on and off some of the boats was potentially tricky, particularly if you had any mobility issues and some of the walking could be a little challenging if not anticipated.

Croatia islands and mountains sept 2016

A memorable and very enjoyable holiday. We hesitated to book initially as we weren’t sure about Croatia and almost booked an Italian trip but are now so glad we did. The guide was excellent and gave us a real insight into the country and its people. We loved the walks all came with excellent views and the scenery was far lovelier than we had expected it to be.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walk in the Velika Paklenica national park and the stop for bean soup.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He made the holiday for us, he worked tirelessly always with our best interests at heart. An excellent communicator and a man who quickly became a friend.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Walking sticks might be useful as paths are a bit rocky.

Amazing Peru!

This is not a relaxing holiday – as mentioned by everybody else, there are lots of early starts and you will be very tired at the end of each day. But the experience of Peru is unforgettable. I was never bored, even during the long bus trips as the scenery is breathtaking.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many - Machu Picchu, the condors of Colca Canyon, the Nazca lines, the Ballestras islands, the homestay.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Carlos was super - organised, calm, confident, knowledgeable, fun, with excellent English. A thoroughly likeable and trustworthy fellow.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take anti-motion sickness tablets during the flight over the Nazca lines and the long winding roads at high altitude. Bring more dollars than you think you need in small denominations and make sure that the bills are pristine. Listen to your guide's advice on how to cope with the altitude. Bring a refillable water bottle.
