Arrangements were efficient, the hotel was lovely, the reception and meal on arrival was most welcoming.
Walking was as brochure said and the town/suburbs was abundant with flowering plants.
Evening meals easily available at very reasonable prices.
The guide was full of interesting information about the historical context of the island.
As ever the greatest fun was meeting the excellent other holiday makers!
The hotel were very attentive to providing me with “gluten free” meals.

Sardinia itself is a beautifully rugged island and the walks on offer provide challenging and varied hiking opportunities. However the trip is significantly let down by the hotel, the food at the hotel and the town in which the hotel is situated. Overall it is a shame that a better hotel in a better location cannot be found to make this trip a better one – I would not recommend this trip because of this.
There is a town on the coast around 10km away called Cala Ganone which would be a far better location for this trip as it provides so many things to do with your down time (the beach, water sports, walks, bars and restaurants that are actually open and friendly etc). And there is a lot of down time, with walks often returning to the hotel by 3/4pm, and dinner not served until after 8pm – so very little to do at the hotel or in Dorgali itself. And whilst this is primarily a walking trip, a well-rounded holiday for me includes great food and opportunities to use any free time well.
The gorge walking was absolutely amazing, from the beautiful scenic 2-hour walk to get there, to the sheer rock faces in the gorge, and the challenging rock climbing and scrambling to get into the gorge itself.
The group leader was perfectly polite and did his job, but I would have liked a lot more enthusiasm and interest in / information about the area. Previously group leaders often provide useful information such as emergency services numbers, local customs, a few helpful phrases in the local language but none of this was provided.
A couple of the walks are a bit more challenging than the trip notes suggest. There is no choice of food at the hotel despite the trip notes suggesting that there is - and the food was very hit and miss (more misses than hits) - this was very disappointing, especially in a food-led island such as Sardinia.
This was an amazing trip and my personal opinion much better than just going to the Rock. It is well paced and you arrive in to base camp at lunch time. Walking in through all the different camps was a real highlight. You then get time to spend walking on the Khumbu Glacier, a free day the next day to catch your breath before the descent and walk back to Lukla.
I would highly recommend Exodus over other companies as you will notice the small differences. Better tea houses, etc etc….
A great trip lead by a great leader and very experiences guide and sherpas.
Reaching base camp and camping on the rocks with climbers that are going to try to summit Everest.
Our leader made this trip, Valerie Parkinson is a legend and now I know why. She is very well informed, gave us lots of advise and kept us all healthy.
Definitely use a Steripen you won't be disappointed.
Although this is a relatively new trip, its extremely well organised and the tour leader and support team were incredibly friendly.
The cycle grading is accurate and although two days have some challenging hills included, the team were always there for anyone who did not want to continue. I had never really ridden a mountain bike before off road, but I felt like I had achieved something by the end of the two weeks. There are some roads with broken tarmac but the leader always lets you know when these sections are coming up. The rest of the roads were in really good condition.
Most of the hotels were a really good standard compared to other trips I have done and Indonesia is a beautiful country to cycle through.
Making it to the top of the Ijen cycle climb!
A brilliant adventure, and all in a weekend!
Obviously getting to the top, but the walk through villages, drinking tea in small hostels along the way, and the views.
Hesham was a great leader, tolerant and friendly who would go that extra mile for us.
Exodus as usual took care of everything, so much to pack in to a short space of time. I wondered if the tour of Marrakesh would prove too much but was really interesting, again so much to see but makes me want to go back!
Beautiful scenery, great walks, lovely people and good food. And of course bears.
Its hard to pick one! Seeing bears, the great views, the excellent food.
Julian is incredibly knowledgeable and full of enthusiasm for Bulgaria, the people and, most of all, the bears. His patience and good humour were unfailing and he gave exactly the right amount of information at the right time. The best leader on any Exodus trip that I've been on.
Do take a box for your lunch, do take some honey home and do get Maria's cheesecake recipe.
Turkey is a fascinating place historically, politically and culturally and definitely worth visiting.
We were blown away by the “Cotton Castles” and, of course, Cappadocia and the underground dwellings. The rock formations in both those areas are really unusual and beautiful. Unfortunately the group was not able to take the balloon ride at Cappadocia because of weather conditions.
We had just finished a tour of Sri Lanka with an outstanding guide so maybe it made us more dissatisfied with the guide we had on this trip. Her English was difficult to understand and her explanations more convoluted; she was often repetitive. It took up too much time at the site which could have been spent exploring. It might have been better given on the bus. A couple of times we wanted to stop for photographs, but told it was too dangerous or cost money when there was an obvious pull off or we would have been glad to pay. We did not really learn about other aspects of Turkish life, the politics, religion (except for Sufism) and culture.
We suggest that if you take this trip, you spend a few extra days in Istanbul before or after exploring Topkapi, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Dolmadahce Palace and various other museums, plus hanging out with the locals.
Wonderful trip. Varied, good hotels and the best trip leader. Francesca is kind, knowledgable, helpful.
Probably would have prefered 2 less cities to visit. This would have made the trip a better pace and give us a chance to savour each place.
Valley of temples.
Super as mentioned above.
None.
Well organised trip staying almost completely on the camino route, with good hotels, good guides, and a great group of people.
The start in Leon was impressive, but the lovely people and hospitality along the route was inspirational.
Both leaders very good
Get fit before hand. The trip is quite challenging.
The guides were fabulous , the group fun and the adventure grand.
The antiquities
Both guides, both Dimitris's were great. They were knowledgeable engaging and did a many things that made the trip more of an adventure and and an experience I will never forget
Our group chose to share dinners. This allow us to share our day's experience , get to know one another and eat more great food.
