Amazing experience

Absolutely brilliant holiday. Have waited so long to see Tigers in the wild and this trip did not disappoint. Would definitely go again.
We were so lucky as had good , even exceptional signings in all three reserves. All of our group had sightings some more and better than others , but no one was disappointed.
We also saw a leopard , and sloth bears , jungle cats, and so much more wildlife. The lodges were all good, the food in Penchants being the best, although all were a bit the the same. Breakfasts were on the drive and were a bit uninspired I have never eaten so many boiled eggs. The one day we had samosas was great.
Hotel in Agra good the one in Delhi not so .
The overnight train trip was an experience! enough said!

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing my first tiger in the wild of course, but also seeing a leopard albeit at a distance.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Krishna was great, very caring and went out his way to help if anyone had a problem.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take some protein bars for the breakfasts, the morning drives are cold so take layers , also all the drives are dusty so take covers for cameras and something to cover your mouth and nose especially if you have any respiratory issues. Be prepared for long bumpy drives, and lots of sitting around just listening for any alarm calls and waiting , and be prepared to be disappointed, as you will not see Tigers on every drive, they are elusive, and you may only see glimpses of them through the jungle . Enjoy the rest of the wildlife especially some of the beautiful birds. Take plenty of tissues , and be prepared for the Indian style toilets . Also remember to just watch the tigers not always through a lenses.

Costa Rica - fabulous

Discover Costa Rica really lived up to expectations

Wonderful wild life and plenty of time to see everything in detail

An incredibly varied country – difficult to do it justice in 16 days but this holiday gives an excellent insight into a wonderful holiday

Unhurried and relaxing holiday

Accommodation – food – wonderful

Costa Rica is very Eco friendly. It’s approach to living alongside wildlife is to be greatly admired and, indeed, the rest of the world should learn from Costa Rica approach

The guide (Héctor) was superb

Costa Ricans are fabulous people – warm and welcoming

Trip notes are accurate

However if travelling from Ecuador to Costa Rica it is necessary to have a Yellow Fever Certificate.

Most Inspirational Moment

Experiencing the birds, iguanas, monkeys from the boat in the lagoons. On a night walk in the jungle listening to the nightlife with the torch turned off - drinking in the noise of the frogs, insects etc. was magical. Swimming in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall surrounded by high cliffs and amazing forest vegetation Watching the humming birds.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hector was wonderful. Having been on several Exodus trips I can honestly say he was The Best. Knowledgeable - interested in the people on the trip. Eager to learn and Europe as well as imparting information to us. He had a great sense of humour He wanted me make out time in Costa Rica special and memorable and he succeeded

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take plenty of spending money. The meals out can be expensive. All the extra activities are great - do them ALL - but budget accordingly If travelling from countries other than the UK check the requirement for a Yellow Fever Certificate. This is required from travelling via Ecuador

Cycle back roads of Sri Lanka

Fantastic trip- beautiful country with lots to see, friendly people and great food

Most Inspirational Moment

Meeting the Ayurvedic doctor who had a cure for everything...

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suresh is the best tour leader we have come across so far on our travels

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do NOT take the train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya- stick to the bicycle/ bus if necessary

Maximum Everything !!

Absolutely loved this trip and would definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind a little bit of graft for a whole lot of fun!!
First of all, we had a cracking bunch of lads looking after us and they played a major part in creating a very enjoyable experience. Suresh was our main man and he was faultless in coordinating everyone to be where we needed to be, when we needed to be there. So many times above and beyond his call of duty throughout the trip to ensure extra activities were expertly organised and helping several of us who stayed on after the trip with travel arrangements etc.
Sri Lanka proved to be far more than I expected; – the culture, lush verdant landscapes, golden beaches, bird, reptile and animal life and of course the people. Suresh’s huge enthusiasm for his homeland was evident in all aspects and he obviously made sure we were treated like royalty wherever we went.
The cycling was tough, even ‘brutal’ in the heat and humidity but descents through beautiful valleys and riding the backroads through villages, fields and forests was a real pleasure, our team made sure we had plenty of fruit, snacks and drinks to keep us going.
A major plus on this trip for me was the minimal bus transfers and cycling hotel to hotel

Most Inspirational Moment

The wildlife which cropped up at almost every turn.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suresh was brilliant 10/10 thank you for sharing your country with us, laughs, banter and great memories all the way.... "maximum damage, probably"

Advice for Potential Travellers

Sunscreen and sleeves, the sun is very strong, factor 50 didn't stop sunburn. Keep a small bag for easy access on the bus with a towel, shorts and T shirt in case of a heavy shower.

Not recommended for complete beginners

The trip was enjoyable overall, but as a complete novice to skiing, I struggled. Almost everyone in the group had some experience of either cross-country or downhill skiing, and the pace of the group was understandably set by them. As such, those of us with no experience had to learn very quickly, and I could have done with more practice and training before heading out on the less basic routes. The end of the week in particular was very tough.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a good trip for people with some experience of skiing or for those that can learn quickly.

Nile Cruise 2019

A whistlestop tour of the main sites in Egypt

Most Inspirational Moment

Sites like Karnak, Philae, the pyramids at Giza and the Valley of the Kings lived up to all expectations. I also loved cruising down the Nile and watching the world go by - this was my first river cruise and I would do more now.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Teefa was excellent - like having a friend guide you round the sights.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's not a leisurely trip - there are a number of very early starts and you cover a lot of sites in a week. February is a perfect time to go - it's a very pleasant mid 20s during the day, and cool in the evenings.

Very enjoyable trip

Great holiday with varied activities.

Most Inspirational Moment

Particularly enjoyable memories include: Climbing Lions Rock, Hortons Plain walk (even though Worlds End view was misty), white water rafting, hot water bottle at night at the Hill Club, bike ride/local lunch, playing Sri Lankan games, train ride, wandering round Galle, and still some time to relax by the pool and have a swim.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roshan was an excellent guide, our tour was very well managed.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Whale watching – I did it, and we did see blue whales (and a pod of dolphins). But, with hindsight, I would not have done it, as it takes around 7.5 hours, and you only see a few glimpses of the whales, and I think I could have made better use of my time by the local beach and doing perhaps the afternoon mangrove tour. Oh well, you live and learn. Sigiriya – do the optional game drive, we saw loads of elephants, and we only caught a glimpse of one on the included Yala drive. Take insect repellant.

Classic Patagonia

On reflection, I would of liked there to be more trekking. Land only booking is 11 days of which only 6 are trekking. I fully appreciate the size of the region and the need for transfers to see “it all” but given the distance travelled and the cost involved I think DAY 7 should be a trekking day rather than a rest day. There is plenty of time to rest during transfers.

Most Inspirational Moment

Las Torres

Thoughts on Group Leader

Pepe was outstanding. 10/10 only just covers it.

Advice for Potential Travellers

consider arriving a day early to see a little bit more of Buenos Aries. Take flip flops for the showers in the refugio's

Cross country skiiing

Excellent group, the leaders had extensive knowledge of the area and the sport. Liz was a thoughtful encouraging and inclusive leader. No complaints at all.

Most Inspirational Moment

The beautiful, awe inspiring scenery.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Could not fault her.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go for it.

Snowshoeing in Transylvania

This was my first snowshoeing holiday and despite being a bit apprehensive beforehand I absolutely loved it. Everything combined to make it a fantastic holiday – a get away location in the middle of the national park, a very homely hotel with superb food and hospitality, stunning scenery on each walk and a very interesting daytrip to some of the local places of interest. Add to that a really friendly group of fellow travellers and it truly was a week to remember.

Most Inspirational Moment

It was a week full of experiences, but for me the last two walks were the best. The walk to Bran Castle took us through some beautiful countryside, and the castle itself was very interesting (our guide also advised that this was the best time of year to visit as you may have to queue for up to two hours in the summer to get into the castle). Our last walk through the gorge to the Piatra Craiului mountains was also stunning. It was quite a slog up to the mountain hut, but well worth it for the views, as well as the soup and mulled wine we enjoyed inside the hut.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Thomas was a star - I liked his relaxed style and his bad jokes! We had a full group of sixteen people, so he had to work hard to make sure that everyone was coping okay with the terrain. He made sure that we had all the vital information for each day's itinerary and generally went above and beyond to make our holiday as enjoyable as possible.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The hotel is quite isolated in the national park - no other bars or restaurants around. I loved the week away from it all but don't pick this holiday if you want a busier nightlife. Linked to this, take plenty of supplies with you, e.g. toiletries and snacks for the walks, as it is the middle of the holiday before you get a chance to stock up on such items. Be aware that there are a lot of working dogs in the neighbourhood. I was never woken up by them howling, but I know that some of the others in the group did find it a bit of a problem some nights. Also, make sure that you have a good level of fitness. I am a keen hill-walker so did not find it a problem, but on balance I felt that this Grade 3 holiday was more difficult than a Grade 3 summer walking holiday with Exodus.
