Coastal Croatia by Bike

Fantastic holiday. Arrangements, schedule and hotels were first class.

Most Inspirational Moment

Arriving in Fazana at night - could not believe we were staying in such a beautiful location

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book this holiday you will not be disappointed

Vietnam and Cambodia

The experiences on this trip will live on in our memories for many years. Future trips will be held up against this trip as a guide to a good holiday. Thom (our guide) was keen to show us the ‘real’ Vietnam. He took us to traditional eateries where the food was excellent. Lots of very healthy fruit and veg. In fact as a Scot I’ve never seen so many vegetables in my life! It’s changed my eating habits now I’m back home! Thom did his job very well and we loved every minute of our trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Oh..so many moments. But was quite emotional as we sailed out onto Halong Bay. It was atmospheric with the low mist clinging to the islands and the sight of the sailboats drifting in and out of hidden bays. We loved Hoi An where we got to catch our breath and enjoyed taking a cookery class, and then eating our own cooking. Angkor Wat was why I booked the trip in the first place and it didn't disappoint. A special place, great to explore..although it would be great if you could find a quiet spot to appreciate it without all the other tourists. A couple of our travelling companions did visit at sunrise and thought that was a much quieter time to visit.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Thom was a star! He took us to fabulous eateries, always wanted us to experience Vietnamese cooking. His first lesson was teaching us to cross the busy roads of Hanoi without being hit by one of thousands of motorbikes. He counted us out and counted us back..phew, we all made it home in one piece. He was informative, enthusiastic and had a great sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

No need to take lots of clothes. Plenty things to buy over there! When haggling start at half the price but remember to keep smiling and keep things friendly. Beer prices - We found that beer was cheaper and you got more (bigger bottle) in the North so appreciate the bargain while you can. .. Oh, and don't try the snake rice wine, Yucko.

Inca Trail

the most amazing trip ever, such a lovely group of diverse people working together & helping each other along the trek. the weather started off a bit unusual due to a ‘El Niño’ that occurs every 2- 7 years & happened to be the year we visited! but the day we started our trek the sun shone & did not stop.

Most Inspirational Moment

this would be taking a step through the 'sun gate' on day 4 of our trek, as we climbed to this point in sweltering heat the suns rays shone through the gate, we waited until all group members were at the top before we took turns to walk through, the view was something i will remember for the rest of my life, absolutely amazing. the feeling of achievement , tiredness along with the most amazing views was very emotional and i am glad that our whole group achieved this together.

Thoughts on Group Leader

OUr group leader was excellent, he looked after us from start to finish, even coming out to dinner with us helping us to read through the menus & order, he ensured that as a group we bonded well before we even began our 4 day trek. His knowledge was unbelievable sharing this with us as we walked along & when we rested. to finish our trip our leader didnt just drop us off at the baggage check in , he waited with us & walked with us all to passport control where we said our emotional good byes to him :)

Advice for Potential Travellers

dont use deet, damages everything it touches! use incognito http://www.lessmosquito.com//online_shop_s/Incognito_Mosquito_Repellent_p/ic-sprayn.htm works great, doesn't smell & doesn't stain clothes or rot your glasses / phone or anything else it touches.

Picos de Europa

This was a fab getaway! Awesome scenery, really great walking, well organised and such a gorgeously rustic cosy lodge with really great food and hospitality…loved all of it 🙂

Most Inspirational Moment

There was an inspirational moment everyday of the week in the Picos mountains

Thoughts on Group Leader

Wow he made the week what it was....so knowledgeable, kind, funny and very experienced in the Picos mountain range. Totally went above and beyond to make the experience so memorable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book it :) lovely week. I really wish I had improved my fitness before booking the C week though, found it pretty tough but I was possibly one of the least fit in the group! The guide always gave options on the treks so it worked really well to suit all group members.

Western Explorer

A taste of many things! A time to walk alone and travel together. What a great way to discover Western USA.
From walking the Golden Gate Bridge with clear blue skies to the ‘awesome’ view from Angel’s Landing in Zion Valley. From the unforgettable moment you reach the rim of Bryce Canyon to the madness of Las Vegas. As a sworn-in Ranger (a very rigorous assessment) I feel qualified to recommend this trip to those who love variety and do not want to sit on a beach and roast. Fantastic.

Most Inspirational Moment

Looking over the edge of Bryce Canyon was wonderful OR the precarious climb up to Angel's Landing and then just looking...

Devon was very informative and patient. He had a great sense of humour and was passionate about his country. He even tried to teach me the rules and tactics of baseball - what a sport (him, that is). He adjusted the schedule to allow us see a few extra sites. He even even had a word with an obliging barman who slid a glass cold turkey down the bar for me to catch. He was my 'dad'. Devon deserves a pay rise.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Packing and unpacking frequently does not suit all travellers and many hours on the road can be uncomfortable. It terms of money, is important to allow for tips. The cost of tips took some of us by surprise. Top up with water whenever you can (our guide was excellent at reminding us). When you've taken the trouble to save up, book and travel, do everything.

Cycling Vietnam

I booked this on a bit of a whim and then realised i smoked like a trooper and was extremely unfit and hadnt been on a bike for nearly 20 years! . Soon as I realised what i was about to do i quit smoking and got on a bike … what a favor i had done myself!

Most Inspirational Moment

I took inspiration form so many things on this trip. Amazing culture/people , the children running to greet you in far out villages , everything was incredible. How is it possible to have a new best day everyday?? I still havent smoked 7 months on and i commute to work on a bike now everyday :)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lam was AMAZING! nothing was every a problem, everything always OK he sorted everything! never been on a tour holiday ever, certainly not like this either, the bus driver, van driver who carries the bikes and the mechanic all amazing guys who can not do enough to make your trip amazing, they are a true credit to this travel company.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As others have said, if your thinking about it then just book it, i promise you will love every waking minute of your holiday, worth every penny i paid. Do get them cycling legs in order before you go, its worth having some miles under your belt, it caters for ALL levels of cycling but certainly better enjoyed the fitter your legs are. If your worrying like i did before i went dont, you do not need to be Brdley Wiggins to love this holiday.

Walking in Tuscany

A great week of walking with a good multi-national group and a great guide. There was variety in seeing something of the region and enjoying different walks. Braccicorti, our home for the week, was just that and helped us to absorb a little of Tuscan living.

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably reaching the summit of Mount Prado was the one moment I'd choose, after all it was a challenge walking week. However, there were others: the view from Mount Tambura, the successful baby wild boar rescue and finding the unusual swallowtail butterflies. Also, an enjoyable day in Lucca,

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara - amazing! She managed the group well and made everyone feel valued. She was an interesting and special person who could be quite inspirational to listen to. Sara led the walks well, giving some freedom to go on ahead and supported where necessary. She was also able to change the itinerary with the refuge being closed due to late snow and included a couple of evening activities.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you do one of the challenge weeks, make sure you have appropriate rain gear, walking poles and boots. We all did and needed them. We were not able to use credit cards anywhere, you do need to have Euros. Read the reviews, they are always helpful.

Cycling the Vineyards and Wineries

No matter how much reading you do, you can never be totally prepared for any cycle tour. There are always surprises in store and of course the people you meet, the guides and fellow cyclists are a key factor in the ultimate overall experience.
The scenery on this tour was dramatic and at times absolutely fabulous, especially in the 2nd half when we returned to Cape Town along the coast.
There were times when the weather was a little difficult and on one stretch of coastline with mountainous cliffs on one side and a sheer drop to the sea on the other, we were frequently ‘blown about’ or stopped in our tracks by the wind in our faces. It all added to the excitement and sheer enjoyment of the cycling, it certainly wasn’t boring!
The guides were excellent, they didn’t allow us to cycle when it was too dangerous but at the same time we were able to tackle some demanding climbs and descents and the cycling was generally just within the capabilities of the group.

Most Inspirational Moment

Although we weren't there at the right time for Whale watching, we spotted a school of Dolphins one day on a descent down towards Cape Town on the coast road down the mountains and stopped to take photos and watch them (200+) swimming along in front of us!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader Talis was very able and capable. He allowed us to enjoy the challenge of each days cycling, while making sure that the risks were kept within acceptable boundaries. We had many enjoyable stops for food, coffee, beers etc and he ensured we sampled as much local culture as we could in the time allowed. His judgement was excellent, making sure that decisions about where and when to stop, what to eat and safety did not impact on our enjoyment of the cycling while taking full account of the varying skill and fitness levels of all participants.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't be afraid to do this trip. I wondered about security in South Africa but I felt that Cape Town and the surrounding area had more of a Mediterranean feel to it and never felt 'threatened' once.

A wonderful experience

We were a group of 3 married couples of 50 + years. Our guide was called Hassan , he very quickly discovered the capabilities of us ladies in our group and always made sure we were challenged but still capable of enjoying ourselves. I personally chose not to make the ascent from base camp but the others did. All of the Berber men who looked after us were very good and courteous. Our trusty muleteer Ashdou and his mule Tashdou were never far behind . The food were excellent

Most Inspirational Moment

Learning about the Berber way of life and the scenery and meeting our guides family for tea

Thoughts on Group Leader

Outstanding, I put great trust in him. He was very interesting with a great sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go and enjoy. Plenty of places to buy water and snacks on the way, so no need to take much . Ladies don't worry too much about the facilities we soon learnt to get on with it .

Inca Trail

I booked on this with a coupl eof friends to celebrate my 50th birthday. It really was a trip of a lifetime and exceeded all my expectations. The Group leader was so knowledgable and funny and his side kick entertained us with his singing in the morning.
we had a really friendly lovely group of people that all survived the trip together, despite some of us suffering altitude porblems, we pulled together and helped each other through with lots of spirit and laughter.

The porters were fantastic – went out of their way to make the experience a good one and the cooks were amazing – the meals were superb and healthy – even cooked a birthday cake for one of the group during the trek!

Would definatley recommend this to anyone wanting an adventure

Most Inspirational Moment

I guess Macchu Picchu - it felt very emotional actually being in a place that is so infamous in pictures and i felt in awe of how massive the sacred ruins were. It was alot greener than i imagined it and a really beutiful place. There were some other beautiful sites en route including all the scenery of the mountains and flowers along the way

Thoughts on Group Leader

Will was amazing - so kowledgable and funny - had a wicked sense of humour and so friendly. He sat down with a couple of us each evening and went through the names of the places we had walked through etc for our journals and was really helpful and sympathetic when we were suffering from altitude. Couldnt of asked for a better leader and really missed him when we left

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go prepared with walking experience, comfortable boots as we were walking quite a few hours each day - lots of medication for all eventualities Lots of light layers is good as we experienced all weathers and just a light waterproof as you have to carry it. A cap or hat is essential for the last few days of the trip if you dont want bad hair days photos :) and definatley a spare battery for your camera as you will need it - i came back with over 400 photos!
