A really lovely week

I’ve had a wonderful week – challenging at times but so worth the effort. Hotel was sweet with friendly staff. The local restaurants were very good too . Liz was a really fantastic guide – attentive, kind and extremely knowledgeable of the local area.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspiring moment was being caught in the pouring rain on a hillside — soaked, laughing, and united by the simple truth that in the rain, we are all the same.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Liz was a fabulous guide. Very knowledgeable of the local area with a gentle, steady presence that helped everyone feel at ease and supported.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Great week - challenging at times but well worth the effort.

Stunning scenery, views and wildlife

We opted to do this over hiking Mt Kilimanjaro. So glad we did. I loved the variety of the wildlife and the hiking. The terrain was excellent with a good amount of challenge. Clifford our guide was fabulous. He pointed out the wildlife, gave us interesting information on all sorts of things and led our walks managing a range of abilities and speeds. We loved the trip and had an awesome time. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hiking in the Drakensberg mountains

Thoughts on Group Leader

Absolutely fantastic. His knowledge, ability to see wildlife and manage all abilities on the walks was outstanding. Thanks Clifford.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you love some walking in the outdoors and spotting wildlife do this trip.

Stiina

Advice for Potential Travellers

Come prepared for all weather, the hikes are fantastic even in rainy or snowy conditions if you are dressed for it.

A fabulous trip to Morocco

The trip gave us a superb introduction to Morocco blending cities with desert and mountain locations.

Most Inspirational Moment

I enjoying the sunrise camel ride and the chance to meet a Berber family in their own home.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Khaled was an excellent leader and a first rate ambassador for his country. He planned extra activities to enhance our experience such as a city tour of Rabat for the group and a visit to an oasis. Khaled selected some excellent city guides for us especially our guide in Meknes.I enjoyed the range of restaurants he chose and the entertainment some offered. He was always pleasant, friendly and engaging and had a can do attitude. I would be absolutely delighted to find he was our leader on another trip. Mention must be made of Ishmael too who was an extremely careful driver and always pleasant and helpful in any way he could be. They were an ideal duo for our trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

An excellent trip as a first introduction to Morocco. The only disappointment was the hotels. At times they were well out of the centres and very basic indeed. For example in Essaouira the trip notes said the hotel was in the heart of the medina. In fact it was a good 40-50 minute walk away. In Marrakesh the hotel was a 55 minutes walk from the centre. It was a five star trip but I cannot give it that because of the hotels.

Classic Scotland: Edinburgh to the Highlands

Loved the organization of our Scotland trip! Steven, our guide, was excellent! Some of my favorite trips were Bosnia and Beyond and Baltics in Winter (older version). Great communication with the US office in planning.

Most Inspirational Moment

* All of Edinburgh. * Rosslyn Chapel * Stirling Castle (even in the rain!) * Battle of Bannockburn --extra good multi-media! * All the meals -- cafe day 5, day 7 * Distillery tour *

Thoughts on Group Leader

The BEST we have had! Helped us in every situation! Steven had many experiences in life that helped us to feel a real part of Scotland during the trip!

Great holiday, with an excellent guide

Excellent guide Mel who was very flexible and also dealt with an emergency situation really well

Most Inspirational Moment

seeing so many different parts of Cornwall that I probably wouldn't have otherwise seen

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mel was amazing, she held us together as group really well

Walking in Cornwall

Well organised, excellent walking, great guide, nice hotels.

Most Inspirational Moment

Beautiful coastal walks, visit to Heligan gardens.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mel should be particularly commended for how she dealt with the head injury, she was excellent at dealing with the injured lady as well as looking after the whole group.

A whole new meaning to getting Into the Wild!

This was an experience of a lifetime! I cannot recommend this trip enough. If you want to go wild camping in the African bush where you can completely disconnect from every day life and get back in touch with nature, then don’t hesitate to book this trip. You will be surrounded by wild animals, bird sounds and highly experienced staff.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being surrounded by elephants at our camp and canoeing past so many pods of hippo's. They are in abundance here! Seeing so many different bird species, including the carmine bee-eaters' & their nests which only occurs at a certain time of year. Being a part of the best group of adventurist souls on this departure! Canoeing on the Zambezi of course!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader, CB and assistant guide, Julius, were top notch! They were caring, compassionate, extremely knowledgeable (you can ask them anything) and very experienced. I had a great time canoeing with their crew in training, Chuchu. This is not excluding the flycamp crew who tended to our every need and, even though it was camping with basic amenities, they gave us five star service.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read the trip notes! Everything you need is in there. Make sure you follow the guidelines. I used a large drybag to pack my first 4 days' worth of baggage and had a small shoulder bag that I could keep with me while canoeing for things like binoculars, sunscreen, shades etc. For the warmer months, a sarong or two is very much recommended. You can wet this and cover your shoulders and your legs to keep cool and protect yourself from the sun. The 2x2m tents are actually large enough for two to share. You will have a mattress on a stretcher at the fly camp so you will be elevated from the ground. Take carabiners to clip your items to things like your tent/bag/ the showers. These I found to be super useful. Phone signal is almost non-existent on the trip, so keep this in mind when going back into the wild!

Kilimanjaro

This was a very well organized trip with experienced leaders and very thoughtful, kind people. They made us all feel energized and positive of the hike and our abilities to be able to summit. They stuck to the schedule but were flexible when needed. The food was fabulous too!

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching Gillman's Point at sunrise with Happiness and the guides and porters at our sides.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Happiness was fabulous! She took care of us very well without mothering us. She gave us realistic expectations and helped us reach our dreams of summitting Kilimanjaro.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for the cold and the long hiking hours. It is a challenging hike, be fully prepared - food, medicine, fitness and clothes - but have lots of fun too!

Maglic Magic !!!

A wonderful weeks hiking in the most beautiful surroundings. Sarajevo was an interesting base for some of the walks and the time spent in Mostar was lovely …despite the heavy rain!! It was a pleasure to meet all the other group members, good conversation and fun the whole week. Two of the accommmodation could be described as interesting (run down and dated) ….however, some of the other hotels exceeded expectations and were really of a very good standard.

Most Inspirational Moment

The day hiking Mt Maglic, perfect weather conditions, enjoyed every step even though it was a long day.....and the views were stunning! A real sense of achievement had by all the group.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Saudin was an inspirational young man ....only 25 but so advanced beyond his years. He was a font of all knowledge on the trip, socialable, fun and took excellent care of the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do not be put off by the scrambling part of the Mt Maglic hike, or having to use wires - they are not always necessary! It is along day, but many senior members in the group absolutely nailed it !! ......and do take the last few steps to the summit from the saddle ...there is an option of a lesser exposed route up and down ....100% worth the effort!!
