Must do cycle in your lifetime

The views, the hills, the people and the food all make for an amazing trip

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling up the 11.5 km hill in Hvar and reaching the top with a outstanding view of the Adriatic sea

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ana was amazing. She was one of the most organized persons I've met and went way out of her way to do extra stuff for the group

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring cushioned seats

Sicilly

Cycling holiday

Most Inspirational Moment

Lovely scenery - so varied Loved cycling down to the coast and see the lovely blue see Learning from others in the group how they approach different challenges

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. For the whole week, he had exactly the right balance. We had a really mixed group of some really keen cyclists and others (like myself) that would like to be on my bike more but have little time. Thomas ensured a really great pace and waited for those at the back, always ensuring we kept together and he was encouraging in terms of doing well and doing the right pace. He was extremely helpful, always paying each one of us his full attention.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do some practice cycling up hills!

Almalfi Coast

What a beautiful part of Italy…. What wonderful food….. And a great group of people….

Most Inspirational Moment

Loved the Walk of the Gods, and all those steps down in to Positano!! It's very difficult to pick out individual parts of the trip as all the places we visited were lovely.... I was fascinated by Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii & Herculaneum. Going in October I think was a good choice, still busy in some places but I can imagine it being a lot worse in the height of summer, we were lucky with the weather as well.... Took over 200 photos which goes to prove that the scenery was spectacular...

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine clearly loves what she does and her passion for Italy & the relationship she has with the hotel staff shows.. Thankfully we all took her advice on the best way to view Isle of Capri which made the day a lot more relaxing and stress free, and avoided having to wait in big queues for the buses..

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to put on weight from all the wonderful food at the hotel..... and wine!!! They were long days but worth it as we packed so much in.....

Amalfi Cycle Ride 10th-17th October 2015

Outstanding for both my wife and I. This is Italy’s equivalent to the French Riviere. A must for all to do. And by being on a bike you take in so much more of what is around you.

Most Inspirational Moment

Lunches at quiet out of the way restaurants which you would never go to as a tourist. Positano was simply stunning.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Paolo was just perfect. Pleasant, cheerful, considerate, professional, calm. I could go on...

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you get use to going up hills on a bike. October is a great time to go because the weather is just right for cycling and the traffic relatively quiet. The bikes provided were excellent and with comfortable seats. However, professional cycle wear is well worth the investment. The age range of our group was from 28 to 70.

Cape and the winelands

A good combination of varied scenery inland and coastal, towns and city and tours
Food and accommodation were good.
Good bus used and bikes ok though I could have done with a lower gearing a couple of times
Rides were too often on busy main roads albeit usually with a cycle lane it isn’t very relaxing or sociable to have too ride single file with fast noisy traffic wizzing past.
Quite often felt rushed with meals and tastings sometimmes due to the leaders having to cook our dinner which was often not ready till quite late. Is it really necessary for them to cook?
Could have done with an extra day in Cape town to fit more in. With only two half days you can’t fit in Table Mountain, Botanic gardens, Roben Island and the city itself let alone shopping and relaxing on the beach

Most Inspirational Moment

The Botanic gardens-Superb

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adequet Good local knowledge re history and flora and fauna Needs to be more formal in briefings and the initial one was far too long Got lost a couple of times but I guess if you don't do the trip regularly that happens Generaaly friendly and helpfull just needs to sort out his communication better

Discover South Korea

A great two week trip around South Korea, Exodus’s first trip there. Fascinating places to visit, good food and transport and accommodation, giving a glimpse into a country that is definitely worth visiting, and a trip that covers the main sites. The itinerary worked well, some timings need tweaking and trip notes altering slightly. Just the one early start on temple stay and leaving day, some busy days, and sometimes quick turnaround between arrival at hotels and going out. The hotel we had in Seoul is away from some sites, but metro is nearby and cheap to use. On arrival there was no early check in booked or planned, so we did the market that morning. The rest of the day is free. I went to the aquarium and saw an underwater sardine play. Plenty to see in Seoul over the next few days. The JSA and DMZ are fascinating. There followed a busy trip – cookery school, National Park, the idyllic guest house, Temple-stay (go with the flow), Busan (more time needed here), Jeju Island (optional trip well worth doing), then back to Seoul for a last afternoon and evening. Food was great, cheaper than the trip notes, and lots of it, we enjoyed the bbqs. The autumnal colours were beautiful. Some great nights out in the singing rooms and snow flake desserts

Most Inspirational Moment

A highlight each day, for me - Jogyesa Temple, the food, the JSA, singing rooms, snow flake desserts, guest house in Gyeongju, ceremonies at Haeinsa, normal Korean life.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Seony had the patience of a saint at times, lots of information about each site, timings accurate, may have left the odd one or two people behind at times though. Very helpful with the evening group meal choices and translations.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I should know this by now but if you see it buy it. e.g. at Andong Village, and won't have time at Haeinsa Temple to buy anything there. Department stores are a bit posh with lots of assistants. Souvenirs, metro are very reasonably priced. Evening meals around £10, beer anything from £1.50 to £6 depending on where you are eating/partying. JUMP show in Seoul is very good, also optional Jeju trip. Not much free/down time, say first day in Seoul and the afternoon before departure day. Loads of coffee shops and convenience stores for snacks. I liked the BBQ meals. For cash need to use ATMs marked as Global, of which there are only a few but there's plenty of money exchanges around. The Temple-stay early morning is then followed by a very long day in Busan, sense of humour needed on this day. In Busan the hotel is a bit out of centre but plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.

Bucket List Must

The Great Wall Walk/Trek organised by Exodus was a great experience. The tour leader (Jerry) must be congratulated on his professionalism – he never missed a thing (even carried a lady down the Wall after she had either broken or sprained an ankle). Accommodation was better than I expected in the villages we had to stay in. The Food was always fresh and there was plenty of it (mostly vegetables though but still tasty).
The magnitude of the Great Wall is overpowering. Must say that for anyone who intends attempting the Walk then I suggest you have a reasonable level of fitness if you are over 50 years of age – the steps (numerous) at times are taxing. Strongly recommend Exodus if you intend “shopping”the net for companies who run similar ädventures”>

Most Inspirational Moment

Looking back , realising what we had achieved at the end of each day and thinking that for an "old fart", 66 years of age and overweight that I still could tick stuff off the bucket list

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jerry was the best tour leader I have ever encountered in all the years of trekking/hiking throughout the world. You could always see that he double checking things in his mind. From early morning to late at night , he was always there to ensure all was OK He is a great asset to Exodus.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you take stocks with you (particularly if you have knee or hip problems) - they really help on negotiating the steps. Take a small, lightweight camera with you - it is a pain have to drag good camera gear out of your backpack every time you want to take a snapshot.

Jordan from top to bottom

A packed week covering ancient history and modern-day culture

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking down the winding Siq on the way to Petra, past wonderful coloured rock formations, until we were confronted by the Treasury

Thoughts on Group Leader

Great fun, very attentive, pre-empted every situation

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take earplugs (to muffle the early morning call to prayer) and a universal bathplug. And be prepared for lots of walking in Petra - the site is bigger than you think.

Walking the Great Wall

Approximately five days walking up to and atop the Great Wall of China, largely in sections that are closed to the general public. The walking is sometimes challenging and the conditions, unique (e.g., hundreds of steps, often narrow or with high risers; steeply sloped stone paths, like staircases without stairs; ladder access) but the scenery at the top is awe-inspiring. In addition, there is a tour of historical sites in Beijing plus a visit to the East Qing Tombs. While the add-on to Xian focuses on the terracotta warriors, it also offers the chance to see another different city quite different from Beijing.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being on top of the wall in quite solitary places and getting a sense of the level of engineering, foresight, and work that went into its construction. It's a wonder, yes, but I hadn't expected it to be so beautiful.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Kevin is a brilliant group leader: focused, fit, friendly, intelligent, knowledgeable, caring, humorous and fun. Not only is he highly skilled at his work, but he's a super multi-tasker willing to take on any job to make our visit easier. He served tables, made us tea and even sorted out the plumbing. The four of us who went onto Xian couldn't have found our way around the rail station in Beijing without Kevin's help. Plus he makes a point about being transparent about how our tip money is spent. Exodus and its clients are lucky to have him!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be aware that a certain level of fitness is required for this holiday. Several of our group were daunted by the steps, the heights, and the ladders. The ability to manage steep paths is essential. Take warm clothes if you go in October, as the nights can be cool (2 C) and the homestays are neither well heated nor insulated. Wear layers. Always carry toilet paper with you.

Everest Base Camp

With only 24hrs to go before we were due to depart the UK Foreign Office were still advising against all but essential travel to the trekking regions of Nepal. My son and I were determined to go and with real efficiency Exodus delivered the trek with great communication in just 24 hrs. We were not disappointed! The trek was simply superb, the scenery beyond description and the personal achievement a real buzz, not an easy trek but one that I would not have missed. Or guide, Jangbu Ang, was extremely knowledgeable and experienced, he had summited Everest three times, knew every peak, described every climbing route, explained the culture and religion and perhaps most importantly managed our walking speed so as to ensure that altitude sickness was never a concern to us. We played cards and pool with him and our porter, Ang Cady, undoubtedly the “coolest dude” on the trek, and they let us win occasionally. Although our group consisted of just my son and I we rapidly met others on the same route and established a camaraderie that enabled all to get to Base Camp and ensured a celebration in both Lukla and Kathmandu.

Most Inspirational Moment

Realising that I was actually going to achieve a goal that I had set myself nearly two years earlier as we approached Base Camp, following in the footsteps of some great men and women.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Simply superb as described above.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Commit to it and you will do it, every moment is worthwhile, remember slowly slowly, the mountains aren't going anywhere, enjoy what's round every corner!
