Fantastic trip!

This was one of my best ever trips. Ecuador is a beautiful country with many different kinds of scenery, interesting cities, fabulous bird life, fascinating indigenous people, colourful markets and much more.

Most Inspirational Moment

Impossible to pick just one! Our whole time in the jungle was great but practising with a blowpipe certainly has to be high up on the list. Also walking down Chimborazo volcano at 4,800m in the snow just 24 hours later was pretty special. Making chocolate on a farm, from caco bean to a hot drink, was really good fun and the boat trip in the mangroves at the coast was amazing - we saw so many beautiful birds. Oh yes, and the hummingbirds in the cloud forest....I could go on for ever!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Pablo is a great tour leader. He is friendly, great fun and very informative. It is clear that he loves his country and he is passionate about Ecuador's wildlife and people. He was very much part of the group, interested in finding out about us as well as answering all our endless questions about Ecuador. He always made sure everything ran smoothly and quickly sorted out any little problems that occurred. He made a great holiday very special.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take some warm clothes! Within a 24 hour period we went from steaming in the jungle to freezing near the top of a snow-capped volcano! Waterproof trousers are a good way of keeping your legs warm and a hat and gloves are a good idea. Don't forget a swimming costume for tubing in the jungle and the hot springs elsewhere.

Hill climbing in Tuscany

No matter what the title says, this is not, in my opinion, a walking holiday. With a walking holiday you envisage rolling hills, pretty villages. In reality the first day of walking was an ascent of several hundred metres up a steep unending hill, and in the main, it continued that way throughout the trip. If you want a walking holiday, don’t do what I did. I didn’t read the notes in detail !! I didn’t !! I saw the word walking and looked at the notes without actually reading the notes. Two or three of my fellow travellers made the same mistake. I am told that Walking in Prosecco might be more your style if you want a more comfortable walk and that’s what I will try next (thanks Sara)

Most Inspirational Moment

The views from all of the high points were so so beautiful and there is so much nature to see. I'm no bird watcher but to see the eagles flying over the valleys was quite something. All this in a very deep natural silence.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I felt somewhat out of place on a walk that I thought would be rolling hills etc. Yes it was my own fault for not reading the notes, but Sara simply took it in her stride and coaxed and encouraged at every opportunity. She was at the front, she was at the back, she was in the middle, she was everywhere, if you had a problem she had an answer. A piece of kit short? She solved it, need to know about the wildlife? She had the answer, often finding insects etc along the trail and explaining them in detail and all with a smile. This is my fifth trip with Exodus, all the guides have been excellent but Sara really is out there all on her own. She has a natural talent, and is a benchmark for all other guides to rise to.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Once again read the trip notes in detail, then read them again, I didn't ! You will be pushed on this trip and if your not in shape well it's your own fault.

Greek islands

Excellent choice of islands.

Very friendly group and leader

Most Inspirational Moment

Climbing the rock at Skaros point on Santorini. The walk out to the point is pretty easy but do not climb up onto the rock unless you are a competent scrambler.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cecile was excellent. Maybe she could have explained a bit more history/geology/geography She was very organised and efficient. Very friendly

Advice for Potential Travellers

You will want to return to Naxos which was the best of the three islands.

Stunning in so many ways

A short flight to an amazing part of the world. Italy is beautiful and has many different regions, the Amelfi Coast is without a doubt one of the best. Exodos have put together the most wonderful week enabling you to enjoy the very best of the area. It includes walks with breath taking views which, is what you expect but pulls it together with using local friendly hotels where you are more than welcome, local bars and family run businesses. I’ve never felt so welcome.

Most Inspirational Moment

The stunning views and the restaraunt staff including you in making local dishes

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant! Knowledgeable, friendly, fun and very professional in both looking after his guests, locals and the environment. his sole goal was to ensure everyone enjoyed their trip while being safe. he was really thoughtful and really did go out of his way to help, guide and advise us especially on our free days.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take waking poles, the walks are not difficult however, poles are very useful.

An inspirational climb up Mount Toubkal

If you’re seeking a challenge and awe inspiring scenery, this climb is hard to beat. Easily reached from the centre of Marrakesh you get a real sense of the region, it’s beauty and it’s Berber heritage. This is my fifth time in Marrakesh and this climb has been the most memorable of all my visits and one that I’ll remember in future years.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being above the clouds is pretty damn spectacular. The experience is quite surreal as you've had to concentrate on the climb, putting one foot in front of the other for hours. All that is forgotten in a moment as you see your first glimpse of sunlit mountains surrounding you and cloud below. An awe inspiring sight and a real privilege to have been able to set foot on that ground. If you can do that, you can do anything.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was amazing. Never stopped smiling throughout the trip. He ensured we were all safe and taken care of at every stage.

Advice for Potential Travellers

For the night at basecamp I would definitely take ear plugs with you as sleeping quarters are cosy and some people talk in their sleep...

Iceland - Northern Lights

An excellent trip with great activities and a full schedule. From start to finish you hardly stop, that being said you see some amazing sights and really geta a feel for Iceland and its culture.

Most Inspirational Moment

The northern lights - they looked simply amazing!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was great, he interacted with us and shared his knowledge and experaince in a proffesional manner. He had a great sense of humour which really helped make the trip experiance so great.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack lots of layers and good quality water proofs! Also a good pair of walking boots are a must for some of the locations!

Great Wall of China

An amazing 10 day trip that was full of inspirational moments – breathtaking scenery and a varied itinerary meant that the time flew by too quickly! The group size at 9 was ideal, meaning we all fitted around one table and were able to discuss the days proceedings! Really great set of people too.

Most Inspirational Moment

Climbing the first "Spider Wall" with no hesitation and being overwhelmed with the views!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our Group Leader Jerry was very organised and "full to the brim" with local knowledge and history! He was very passionate about China which came across in his group chats. He looked after the whole group ensuring we were all fed and "watered" to our satisfaction at all times, and constantly checking that we were drinking enough water etc

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you work on your leg fitness before you go to get the full enjoyment out of the holiday, also worth the investment in decent walking boots! Take a camera with plenty of memory - you'll be taking loads of pictures.

If you care about conservation this trip will bring a smile to your face

Costa Rica has clearly learned that conservation and habitat preservation bring benefits not only to wildlife and the environment but also to local populations and the national economy. The guides who support Costa Rica’s ecotourism industry are nothing short of inspirational; their training, level of knowledge, understanding of ecosystems and their enthusiasm to impart their knowledge bode well for our planet. Anyone who cares about the natural world and its well-being cannot fail to love this trip which will bring a smile to their face every single day.
The trip takes in just about all of the biomes of a country which can rightfully boast to be one of the most biodiverse in the world. To achieve this, it’s a busy trip which covers a lot of miles with stays at some very attractive lodges on both coasts and in the mountains. It also features some wonderful destinations which are
off the well worn tourist track. The September trip had some rain on most days, although never for long and although it was hot and humid a lot of the time, our air-conditioned coach with wifi and Carlos, a brilliant driver, made the travelling comfortable for us. We loved the trip and came home with memories (and photographs) to share and to last through many years.

Most Inspirational Moment

The two weeks had inspirational moments every single day so it is impossible to single out just one. Humpback whales feeding with their calves, nesting sea turtles now protected by law, quetzals breakfasting in avocado trees in the early morning light, a flock of scarlet macaws lunching in a beach almond tree, sloths sleeping in trees in the jungle or relaxing at the Sloth Sanctuary, monkeys swinging from tree to tree, a boa constrictor looking down at you (fortunately with a stretch of water between you), massive crocodiles (again at a safe distance), fascinating and brightly coloured birds, snakes, frogs, spiders, snorkelling on a coral reef, the prolific, incredible vegetation in the rain forest, reflections in the mangroves. They were all inspirational, as was the information from our eagle eyed guides which went with the sightings.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our Group Leader was extremely knowledgeable on biology, ecology, culture, national industry etc. etc. His enthusiastic commentary kept us very well informed and taught us a lot; his sense of humour kept us entertained; he looked after us all extremely well. Put simply, Johnny is a great Group Leader and guide!

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is an active trip which packs in a lot of experiences and covers a lot of ground, both physically and figuratively. The trip involves some very early starts, some long journeys, some longish walks in humid conditions and some boat journeys and beach landings which you will remember for all sorts of reasons. Make sure you pack waterproof materials to keep the camera and rucksack dry if you get caught in the rain and pack some extra plastic bags for when you have to pack damp items in your luggage!

Peruvian Adventure

A wonderfully varied trip through Southern Peru, I saw and did so much in the two weeks.
The itinerary gives you many new experiences, I enjoyed them all and feel really lucky to have visited such a great country.

This was my first time travelling solo and I was a bit anxious, that disappeared as soon as I met the group and I started having a great time straight away.

Peru was on my list of travel destinations because of Machu Picchu, I really had no idea how much more it has to offer and it is now one of my best trips.

Most Inspirational Moment

I adored Machu Picchu and my walk up to the Sun Gate, loved it so much that I chose to go back up the next morning to experience it one more time. I took photos from every possible angle, it is a wonderful place. The homestay on Lake Titicaca was very special, it was so lovely to be welcomed so warmly into someone's home and they can't do enough for you. Then the visit to the floating islands is so unique and fascinating. The boat trip to the Ballestas Islands is good, lots of wildlife and we had a surprise bonus of two whales making an appearance. I chose to do the optional desert dune buggy and that is so much fun and a really good way to laugh with others in the group so early on in the trip. It felt very special being at the Colca Canyon seeing the condors gliding, you have to be a little patient but when they appear it is just lovely. The flight over the Nazca lines is very good, you can't really see them any other way so for me this optional activity was a must. I did feel a bit queasy and was pleased I had taken an anti-sickness tablet beforehand.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Daniel was an amazing group leader, I couldn't have asked for better. A complete professional, who is very knowledgeable about his country and really listens and looks after you the whole time. He has a great work ethic but is really good fun too.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you want to withdraw cash look for a BCP, this was the only bank I found that didn't charge my credit card at the ATM. If you take Peruvian soles with you try to only get small denominations with 50 soles as the largest, a lot of places do not have much change but if you do have notes of 100 try to use them in restaurants. If you want to use US dollars they must be good as new or they will not be accepted. I took Jungle Formula as my insect repellent, it worked as I was only bitten on the areas I didn't spray. I didn't expect to be bitten through my clothes but the insects bit through my jeans a few times. Keep hold of your 1 sole coins you will need them for toilet stops. Keep well hydrated, I felt fine at high altitude with only blocked ears and a faster heart rate but never unwell. Bring a very good moisturiser, especially hand cream as my skin became very dry as Peru is a very dry country.

Discover Costa Rica

An outstanding trip that explores the full range of what Costa Rica has to offer, from the hustle and bustle of San Jose to the quiet stunning beauty of Piedras Blancas.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the turtles make their way back to the sea after having laid their eggs.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Gustavo was amazing. His enthusiasm was sky high each and every day.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a rain jacket in raining season!
