Wonderful Exploration of a unique country

A unique adventure exploring a Buddhist country who embrace their monarchy and the importance of happiness. Great monasteries, beautiful scenery, festivals, and some hikes all make this a great trip. Hotels higher quality than I expected, adequate food with pretty good beer, and a great guide who spoke excellent English. Well organized tour.

Most Inspirational Moment

I woke up early in Gangtey, decided to go out to get some pictures in the mist. I walked past the monastery only to find an early morning festival and blessings. I walked in to be surrounded by local people being surrounded by dancers and people seeking a blessing by the monks. I stepped aside to not invade their personal event but the devotion and love of the locals to Buddhism was very moving, a very special moment. Tigers Nest was very special.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Did very well, represented his country very well. Always adaptable and trying to please us. Able to pass on knowledge of the monarchy, Buddhism and his country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get more than the $50 suggested by our guide at airport, depending on u $100-200 better, u can always convert back when leaving or use it as your tip. ATMs never worked for us in small towns so bring $US, even banks sometimes do not have a money delivery so u cannot exchange. Costs are just drinks but u may want to buy local crafts (often no cards taken) so have local currency. If worried about tiger nest monastery hike (especially if u got a virus in Nepal) consider doing horseback riding half way up. I would suggest u embrace the local festivals as a religious celebration we are lucky enough to observe but not invade. If u are combining trips, the hotel in Kathmandu has relatively inexpensive fast laundry service, my quick dry clothes were slow to dry in Kathmandu.

Treasures of Sicily

I had a great trip to Sicily with this tour and would never had enough knowledge or time to get to and see half the places the tour took us to.

Most Inspirational Moment

The landscape, stunning archeological ruins, an evidence of the people's tenacity to survive and strive after political and natural disaster. (See any picture of a fortified medieval hill town or coastal village hanging precariously to the coast)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader managed to keep us on track and ensure our needs were met with such grace and humour. She was able to make the answer to our questions seem fresh and new. She had a great depth of knowledge about the archeological sites and history of the area being a native of Sicily.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It helped me a great deal to read about the history of Sicily when Sicily was a Greek colony to appreciate the ruins Siracusa and the Valley of the Temples become much more meaningful.

Inka Trail

Amazing trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The whole trip. Breathtaking landscape and amazing inka sites along the way. Great porters and guide.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Enjoy every second of it.

Marvellous Morocco

From the moment we landed to the moment we left, Morocco unleashed a cacophony of colour, excitement and fun. The Hotel Gossamine was ideally situated in the modern district but only 15 minutes by bus from the historic main square and souk. We enjoyed street food in the square and European food close to the hotel. The banter when bartering in the souk was hilarious. By contrast the time spent in the Atlas was peaceful and the villages almost biblical in character, the scenery was stunning. We had the best of both worlds, definitely would return to Morocco.

Most Inspirational Moment

Eating our hot picnic which had been carried up the mountain by mule and cooked on the spot, surrounded by the most amazing mountains in colours of ochre, palest green and white and watching the goatherds watering their flock.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hassan was a fantastic guide and host, he was unfailingly patient with the many questions we asked and always concerned that we were safe and well looked after; he also has a brilliant sense of humour and we laughed a lot. Would love to go on another trip with him as guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't be afraid of the street food and don't be afraid to go into the souk. The traders will call out to you (sometimes with some quite funny comments) but they won't bother you if you aren't interested, just say no firmly. If you are bartering make it light hearted.

Inca Trail September 2016

this trip is amazing from start to finish – it was a lot harder than I thought, however it was totally worth it. the Inca Trail was a life time want and having now achieved this I feel marvellous – our group of 8 were fantastic and made a lot of friends. From the moment we touched down in Cusco everything was organised and arranged for us – I cannot say much more than this trip is totally amazing and the views are absolutely spectacular – the Porters are such hard workers and to be honest really do not know how they do it. the 3 courses with every meal supplied was terrific and could not be faulted. Great Great trip amazing

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top of course it was breathtaking

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Wilbert Ramos was a star - he was very knowledgeable, friendly, funny actually hilarious, very soulful and he got our group through this. He is a very special man who I will never forget. Nothing was a problem, in fact he could not please enough... He was organised throughout the whole trip and we were always kept up to date with what was needed and when. Wilbert made this trip for me and I cannot thank him enough

Advice for Potential Travellers

make sure you train hard before you go - it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be and I did train - the altitude effect 6 out of the 8 of us and is quite difficult to manage at times - drink plenty of water while you are there to keep hydrated - you sure do get fed well.

Tuscany: Cycle Siena and Chianti

This is a great trip: cycling through classic Tuscan landscapes, stopping in beautiful hilltop towns and villages and enjoying the great food and wine of the area with a friendly group and excellent leader and support.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many: the long gradual descent from Castellina in Chianti to Poggibonsi with the smell of pine and wood smoke and unfolding views of the beautiful town of San Gimignano through vineyards; looking out across the countryside in the morning with clouds nestling in the valleys; Siena and its beautiful architecture - a real gem of a city.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Radu, our leader was a really friendly, helpful and professional leader with a great sense of humour. He ensured the group's safety and enjoyment of the trip was uppermost and - together with Reece (who was providing the vehicle support) - made the trip really enjoyable. They kept the good quality bikes in excellent order and provided regular coffee, water and snack stops along the way. Radu was a really good cyclist, to boot, and catered for a wide variety of cycling abilities - so that everyone was included and was able to get the most out of the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The usual stuff: cycling shorts, gloves, glasses and waterproofs (we had some cool and wet weather at the start of our September trip - although it steadily improved through the week (so take sun block as well). Always have water with you - even when you have vehicle support nearby. A mobile phone is recommended, too. If you prefer having stuff with you but not on your back consider taking a rack and pannier if your luggage will accommodate it - as these bikes weren't supplied with either (some trips do and it's worth finding out beforehand). Although this is a moderate trip, it is quite hilly - so it's worth going out and doing a few hills before before you go on the holiday.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek

This was by far the best trip I have taken in yet. Nepal was stunning and I only wish I knew how amazing it was before and I would have definitely spent even more time there.
Exodus were great and made sure the trip lived up to my expectations.

Most Inspirational Moment

The whole trip was amazing. Nepal is such a special place, when we saw a double rainbow in the morning at Annapurna Base Camp photos could not even come close to capturing the beauty.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tsheten was great, young guy who knew his stuff and has a great sense of humor. Looked after us very well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take more spending money than you think you will need, the price of things do go up as you go up the mountains and also when you are in Kathmandu it is very easy to pay for things with a credit card.

Walking the Amalfi Coast October 2016

Wonderful views on all the walks, and a lovely area of Italy to visit.
Lovely hotel with some of the best food I have had on Exodus holidays.

Most Inspirational Moment

The fabulous views, when having a light lunch on Capri after visiting the Palace of Tiberius. The ferry back to Amalfi was also a very interesting experience!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Radu was an excellent leader. Very kind and considerate to all the group, and very knowledgeable about the area in which we were walking.

Advice for Potential Travellers

My advice to any 78 year walkers. There are many many steps on all the walks.

Cycling Puglia and Matera

Wonderful scenery, historic towns, lovely food food and wine and a great tour leader.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling along the Adriatic coast

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mariella was fantastic - very knowledgeable about the area, had a great sense of humour, and went out of her way to make the trip special for everyone. She even organised a toast for our anniversary. The guided tours were also a bonus.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Watch out for loose gravel and potholes

Cuba on two wheels

This trip gave us a brilliant insight into all Cuba has to offer as well as the delights of cycling along the coast and through the countryside

Most Inspirational Moment

We loved the challenge of cycling up the hill on our last cycling day-great to finish with a sense of achievement. And the opportunity to see Che Guevara's Mausoleum was a very moving experience. It's well worth climbing the tower in the museum in Trinidad -the steep stairs lead to a stunning view. Trinidad really took our breath away-friendly people, cobbled streets, craft stalls and music on the steps in an afternoon with a mojhito-perfect!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Laz was very engaging -the group enjoyed his company, appreciated his extensive knowledge and valued his consideration

Advice for Potential Travellers

It was very hot-take plenty of sunscreen and plenty of snacks to eat whilst cycling. And don't leave Cuba without taking a ride in one of those stunning cars along the sea front
