Cycle Madagascar

An astounding country to visit. The scenery was spectacular and various. The people very friendly and of course the wildlife unique.

Most Inspirational Moment

The trek into the National Park.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fi (Finaritra) was very willing and helpful. He was however inexperienced which led to a few minor problems but he did cope very well over some confusion about return flights and accommodation. I would have liked to have heard and therefore learnt more about the country as we travelled from our guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Leave your smartphones in you luggage.

Land of the tigers

We had a great experience on this holiday. The lodges were all free wifi, albeit a bit slow. 2 of the 3 had pools, great for the free time between 11 and 2.30 between game drives. At the 3rd lodge the pool was being renovated which was a shame.
Saw 6 tigers ncluding a fleeting glimpse of 3 cubs on 4 of the 16 game drives we experienced.

Most Inspirational Moment

First tiger sighting was magical, the second when we followed alarm calls and got there before anyone else very special. Last sighting of single tiger also magical as it was our last included drive and we were about to leave the park.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Vijay was fantastic. Nothing too mch trouble coped well with hiccups, my luggage was taken by someone else at Mumbai. I was panicking when we met him at nagpur he calmed me down and sure enough my luggage arrived at the lodge 48 hrs later. local game park guides bit hit and miss. Drivers more dependable. Everyone anxious to give you the experience of seeing a tiger.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a fleece. Mornings are cold, maybe socks too! Insect repellant a must for Kahna. Use it as soon as you arrive.

Indo china premium cycle tour

A thoroughly enjoyable trip. Fantastic scenery off the beaten track and away from tourists to see the real countryside and how the locals live. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great fun and took us to eat local street food that he knew was safe. Food was dirt cheap in Thailand and Cambodia. A bit more expensive in Vietnam. Wine was expensive but beer was cheap. We were lucky with the weather and had only one day where we got drenched. The rest of the time it was hot and steamy.
Don’t take any notice of the Exodus currency advice. We found it incorrect. Take US dollars only. We took pounds sterling and couldn’t change them anywhere and had to supplement the few dollars we had with an ATM withdrawal. Take some Thai baht but don’t bother with Cambodian Real or Vietnamese Dong.
If you are reasonably fit and adventurous then this is for you. There were support vehicles a plenty if you needed a rest. The snacks provided were very welcome at the breaks.

The only negative if you can call it that was the hotels. Excellent 4 star plus but you could have been anywhere in the world. We would have preferred more character. The air con however was very welcome. The most characterful stay was at the homestead in the Mekong delta on an island

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling on tracks by the Mekong though local villages. We all got horse responding to the locals saying hello all the time. Very friendly. The river trip to the floating market was also unusual and interesting. You have to do the extra trip to the CuChi tunnels near Saigon. The saddest morning was the visit to the Killing fields and torture prison in Cambodia. You have to do it just to appreciate the horrendous time the country went through. A thoughtful and moving experience.

Chai was excellent. His local knowledge was a great help and he knew al the best places to sample local food at dirt cheap prices. He was very conscious of safety on the roads and wherever we went and we never felt uncomfortable anywhere. He organised everything and everyone wonderfully and even provided a helping hand to some the group up some of the minor hills. The countryside is flat as a pancake with a few gentle inclines but the heat and humidity take it out of you. Chai ensured that we had regular stops for water etc usually about every 15 km.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take US dollars only or include some Thai baht. Don't take pounds sterling. Take suncream and ensure you take your deet mossie spray. We didn't see many but my wife had a few bites even so. Also take your malaria tablets.

Walking the Great Wall

Was my first ever solo trip and I can’t wait to book my next one. If you’re in two minds about doing it STOP! Book now. You won’t regret it!

Most Inspirational Moment

Day 5. Sun rising over the horizon and the Great Wall stretching away as far as the eye could see.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jerry was amazing. Knowledgeable, approachable and very funny. Would love him to be my guide on every trip!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take some warm clothes for on a night and if the food doesn't agree, take some protein bars and some rehydration tablets just in case.

Chocoquiero

This was a wonderful holiday. We went as a family including 2 teenagers and we all had a fantastic time.

Most Inspirational Moment

Arriving at a beautiful lunch spot in an Inca site, with tables set up on the terraces on the mountain side, and water channels cascading down, built by the incas. The first view of Macchu Picchu glimpsed from across the valley.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Rolando was amazing. Inspirational, fantastic attention to detail, devoted to his culture, friendly and resourceful.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure your sleeping bag is warm, have a down or synthetic jacket as it gets very cold - below freezing - in the evenings and at night at altitude. My daughter used a metal water bottle with an insulating cover as a sleeping bag. It's warm during the day though.

Superb from start to finish

This was truly a wonderful 2 weeks. From Delhi to Calcutta, the ridge, the people and those others on the trek made this a trip to remember.

Most Inspirational Moment

The views of the Himalayas, walking along the ridge between India and Nepal and the great food we had to eat

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sonam was superb, full of knowledge and always smiling. A great character that made us laugh but lead the group well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

In autumn (mid October) it was very cold on the mountain (at night). Be ready for it. Otherwise no issues, even on the train. Make sure you get up early for the best views of the mountains (although evenings were also great). Relax, forget the world and enjoy! When it says dont take photos, dont take photos (army check points on trek)

An Unknown Country

There are very few British tourists visiting this lovely country and this Exodus trip was a good way of understanding the Past and the Present state of Korea. A visit to the DMZ gives you an understanding of the conflict between the South and the North.
The gardens and ordinary road-side trees are beautiful and the people are charming. There was absolutely no hassle from the local people or officials.

Most Inspirational Moment

Although uncomfortable by our standards, the Temple Stay was inspirational and an eye opener. We lived the life of a monk (but only for one night!) well away from the electronic world of some parts of Korea.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Minhe Kim was a petite and charming girl with an infectious and rather cheeky smile which made up for any shortcomings on her part.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a rather hectic trip involving two internal flights and walking tours as well as optional hikes. So make sure that you are reasonably fit and that your shoes are comfortable but sturdy.

cycling drakensberg and kruger

fabulous trip. Guides Tellis, Bevan and Tish were outstanding. Great selection of accomodations. all very unique

Most Inspirational Moment

krueger park and seeing the big 5

Thoughts on Group Leader

outstanding.........Tellis, Bevan & Tish

Advice for Potential Travellers

really be ready for the HILLS.........this trip needs to be rated higher than a 4

Beautiful walks in a remote part of Bulgaria

It was a very enjoyable trip in a remote part of the country. I didn’t hear about Rodopi mountains before so didn’t know what to expect. The scenery is absolutely stunning – mountains, forests, gorges, caves – all so untouched and beautiful! I enjoyed all the walks and we never saw any other walkers – it was amazing to have it all just to ourselves. We also had a chance to see how local people live. It was a nice, relaxing week and the group bonded pretty quickly!

Most Inspirational Moment

It is difficult to choose one moment as the whole trip was so beautiful. But I really enjoyed Sveti Ilia hike, the views were breathtaking and we even managed to see some wall creepers!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader was great, very informative and knew the area really well. Nothing was too much trouble, she was always willing to help. It was easy to see that she was passionate about what she does and that she really enjoys showing her country to foreign visitors.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You might want to bring a lunch box with you. And don't forget a sunscreen!

Kilimanjaro - Lemosho route

This is one of those experiences that will stay with you for the rest of your life!
To stand on top of the worlds highest freestanding mountain and know that you did it on your own steam is a fantastic feeling.

Most Inspirational Moment

waking up in the morning , opening the tent flap and watching the sunrise and the clouds far below you

Thoughts on Group Leader

I want to thank our chief guide , Mekeke. and the other guides for all of their help over the trip. Without their experience, humour, knowledge and encouragement we would not have all made it to the top.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are of average fitness, and you want to, you can do this, and you wont regret it! It,s easy for me to preach now that I have done it , but I was concerned that i wasnt fit enough, or I was going to suffer from altitude sickness , but there was only one way I was going to find out. do plenty of walking beforehand, follow the packing lists on this site , and trust your guides to look after you !
