The best holiday ever.

You exceeded my expectations for this trip. Everything was handled smoothly and well. We had a variety of accommodations, some Obviously better than others, the the owners of the casas we stayed in were very accommodating and made up for in kindness what they may have lacked in amenities. We had a variety of tours and th MOST DELIGHTFUL tour leader whose memory for dates and details was beyond compare. He was also encouraging and supportive for those including myself who struggled on a couple of rides. (Due to my lack of cycling ability). I believe the rides were exactly what I expected…challenging for me but not beyond my capabilities…..although there were a few times I questioned that!!!! The drivers were kind and funny. When I mentioned we really liked pineapple…Alexis went and got more! The rooms varied a lot in each hotel and I noted that everyone had “the best room” at least once….I have to think that was intentional….it was the extra little touch that made this trip so truly memorable and special. I am already looking at my next Exodus cycling trip! I would highly recommend it!

Most Inspirational Moment

My personal a I.ity to do this...alone. I had worried that going by myself may be challenging but a group comraderie developed fast...I am sure this was encouraged by your staff.

Thoughts on Group Leader

FANTASTIC! Personal le smart funny and professional. His handling of the medical condition of one of the group was excellent. It was a terrible unavailable situation...but I do no think he could have done more.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to cycle....I knew I could do 60km.....if I tried....but I did not expect to do it so fast...but I did do it..and I felt that I had achieved something. Bring pens and sweets to give to the kids you see along the way. Bring older clothes you. Could donate at the end of the trip if you want to...so many in Cuba would love to have what you don't want!

Trails of Vietnam Jan 2017

What an amazing holiday we had. Thanh our guide had expert knowledge about every aspect of our trip and of every place we visited. The trip was very organised from every transfer, every type of transport, minibus, train, bike, kayak and plane all went off without a hitch. Thanh was also very good at keeping a large group together and in the right lace at the right time. From the wet humid north to the dry humid south Vietnam is a fascinating place with friendly – mostly happy people who live on next to nothing. Very humbling.

Most Inspirational Moment

Watching hardworking people just get on with heavy manually labour intensive work in basic conditions without complaining.

Thoughts on Group Leader

As above very knowledgable friendly and organised

Advice for Potential Travellers

Buy a silk sleeping bag! Be prepared for lots of packing and unpacking and a packed non stop trip.

A fabulous tour

A packed itinerary, a great tour of the country- experiencing micro climates- differing landscapes- wonderful national parks and wildlife.

Most Inspirational Moment

Each of the national parks were unique!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Antonio was a fabulous leader - with vast knowledge of the wildlife and country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Rainforest is what it says!! Take your poncho! A great variety of micro climates - from fleece to bathing costume in one day!! Camera is a must!

One of the best holidays

Great way to get a flavour of the three countries. The trip was well organised, great guide and support team – Andres, Paul, Ronald and Alvaro. Good bikes in Costa Rica and Panama, okay in Nicatagua. If I could change one thing, I’d have brought my own saddle. Some challenging hilly rides but also well organised technical/food stops. Excellent extra activities like a night volcano trip in Nicaragua, boat will life spotting trip in Costa Rica and Miraflores locks visit in Panama. Good internary, we’ve visited some cool and beautiful places, however two nights in La Fortuna was one night too many, and two nights in Panama City was one night too many. Otherwise a fantastic trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting Masaya volcano in Nicaragua, seeing sloths in the wild in Costa Rica and unspoiled, empty beach in Panama.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very well organised, engaged, funny and knowledgeable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring your own saddle, waterproofs and well padded shorts.

I love Armenia

I arrived to Airport with my family, the rental agent of this company https://travelcar.am/rent-a-car-in-yerevan met us and guided to the car, so we started the trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Tatev Monastery. Breathtaking view.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Amazing guy!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Visit Tatev, it's AMAZING.

Even better than expected!

A wonderful mix of mountains, lakes, glaciers, wildlife, vast landscapes, huge steaks and friendly people. This was the fulfilment of a long-held dream, made very special by our brilliant guide, Xavier. The climbs to Fitzroy and to the Torres del Paine are fairly demanding, but well within the capacity of anyone experienced with walking in the Lake District or Snowdonia. Regrets? If only we could have stayed longer in El Chalten and Torres del Paine – but this is a ‘highlights’ trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many! Sunrise on Fitzroy; walking on the Viedma Glacier (don't be put off by warnings of a difficult approach- it's very well supervised and very well worth doing); the 'wild frontier' feel of El Chalten; the remoteness of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel...... Pretty much the whole trip is inspirational. And we were so lucky with the weather.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant. Xavier is informative, funny, hard-working and attentive. Excellent inter-personal skills.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Some details in the trip notes are awry: The optional boat trip from El Calafate to see icebergs and glaciers does not include a visit to the Perito Moreno glacier. There is an over-emphasis on taking dollars - we could have paid for pretty much all of it in pesos. The dollar costs of options are rather out-of-date - they cost quite a bit more. On reading previous reviews it's clear that some travellers need to take on board that this trip does involve two long walking days that cover rough, steep terrain - be prepared!

Lifelong memories

We were part of a group of 17 who quickly formed a close bond created entirely by the enthusiasm and generosity of our leader. Nothing was too much trouble Long went out of his way every day to make sure we experienced in full life in Vietnam. The trip ran like clockwork, without us feeling we were being rushed at any stage. He made it fun even when we cycled 100 k in a day taking in a very high mountain pass.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many of these. For me cycling into Hoi Ann city at the end of the day cycling through the bustling streets soaking up the atmosphere. The route that took us through backwater lanes where children rushed out to shout hello. The big descent down the mountain. The vegetable market in Delat. Having a leader who just oozed fun and motivated each one of us to keep cycling when the rain and wind lashed down.

Thoughts on Group Leader

As I said we could not have had anyone who could have done more, he made our trip, he made every day memorable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring your own saddle? Cleats would also be good. Bring warm clothes for Hanoi? Stay on for a few days in Hanoi it's a great place to spend time. Also try and have a day in Ho Chin Minh before the ride.

Trip of a lifetime!

An amazing experience: history in the Falklands; huge penguin colonies in South Georgia and beautiful ice and whales in Antarctica. I had high expectations before the trip but they were exceeded in every area. An unforgettable experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

Close encounters with whales; the sound of ice calving from glaciers and ice bergs popping; BBQ on deck surrounded by the beauty of Antarctica.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's warm on the ship - take some t-shirts and cooler clothes and maybe something a little dressier for dinner on the last night.

Cuban Highlights Trip

Wonderful holiday!

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the cycle without using the bus! Learning about Cuban history and feeling sad that the West has misunderstood Cuba all these years. They have done a great job of surviving and thriving despite all the difficulties. Our guide, Alex, who was full of surprises, knowledge, variety and went out of his way to organise every detail for individuals in the group ensuring we all had the best holiday.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex was great. He easily interacted with all members of the group. He was our interpreter for language and events. He worked hard behind the scenes, cultivating good relationships with Casa owners etc, organising travel details for group members coming and leaving at different times, dealing with all the tipping, giving clear instructions and direction and just generally making sure everything was hassle free for us. He worked patriotically and with sincerity - very catching! There was never any pressure. A great holiday because of him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A universal plug ( for sinks, baths etc) would be useful.

Superb entry into cycling abroad

The was to be my first cycling holiday abroad and I didn’t know what to expect. The organisation of the trip, the bike teams who provided superb snacks at every stop, the excellent bikes, the superb leader, the amazing views.. they all helped make it an enjoyable experience.

Several members of the group didn’t really cycle much at all but we all managed it, with the more experienced cyclists offering help and advice as needed.

Most Inspirational Moment

I personally loved cycling in Vietnam. We were out in the villages more and every kid and some of the parents would say hello. The kids would even line up to get "moving hand slaps". It was all great fun and we felt incredibly welcome. The Angkor wat temple complex was amazing too and cycling around it was a great way to see it.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Is was one of the best tour leaders I've every had on a group trip. All of the bike teams in the three countries were superb too.

Advice for Potential Travellers

First off, do not take Stirling currency. Take usd instead. In terms of fitness preparation, I'd recommend at least doing 4-6 spin classes but ideally do some cycling too to get your butt used to the miles! I'd also recommend cycling shorts - which are acceptable to wear - and a gel saddle. You'll also need a pair of "temple shorts" which are below the knee to put over the top and shoulders will need to be able to be covered for temples too. If you have very fair skin like me, get used to be adding suncream very regularly. Alternatively, take long sleeved tops or separate "cycling sleeves".
