An amazing experience in Jordan

A great trip with a full itinerary, a fascinating insight into Jordan.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being able to spend two days in Petra and explore the site.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eddie was helpful charming and very kind. He ensured we had an enjoyable experience and was knowledgeable about his country. He was concerned to meet the needs of individuals as well as the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for a beautiful but extremely arid country. The itinerary is pretty full-on, theer is not a lot of downtime on this trip and most mornings are early starts, because there is so much to see and do.

An unforgettable holiday

I loved this trip! We have seen a variety of places and we have learnt learn so much about the Japanese culture.

Overall this trip is well organised and I thing that there is a good balance between free and organised time.

Most Inspirational Moment

I really enjoyed staying at the ryokans, the meals we had there and the onsen experience. The most memorable temple was Daishō-in on the island of Miyajima. The atmosphere was amazing and it felt very spiritual. I found the visit to Hiroshima and the Peace Memorial Park and Museum very touching It was great to be able to see the snow mountain monkeys and spot Mt Fuji from our hotel room window in Tokyo! I loved all the food that we have been able to try Last but not least I loved the kindness and the composure of the Japanese people, their respect towards other people and nature, the technology, the cleanliness ... In a nutshell, I will treasure every moment.

Misa is very organised, knowledgeable, kind and patient. She was very attentive and always made sure we were all right. She has given us very good tips of what to do in our free time. One evening, when she should have been free to rest, she has accompanied me and my husband to the district of Gion in Kyoto's as we had not been able to go with the rest of the group on the previous evening due to personal commitments. She also accompanied the group to Hakone for a day trip on her free day. She has definitively go out of her to ensure all the participants had a good time and has thought us a lot of the Japanese culture.

Advice for Potential Travellers

In our group there were people with very specific dietary needs. I think that they have found it a bit difficult at times to find the right food for them. People with special dietary needs (e.g. vegan, vegetarian, coeliac) might find it a bit challenging to find the right food for them at all times.

Longer days than expected.

The days were much longer than we expected as the ride was graded at 2 which is about right for the type of cycling we experienced. On past trips we have arrived at the hotels between 3 and 5 giving time to shower, wash kit and get out to see around around the city before eating. With some of the transfers being long we often had little time to see the place we were staying in. This resulted in eating late and consequently not getting to bed until late.

Much of the cycling is on the flat and on narrow cycling lanes which was a bit boring at times.

Most Inspirational Moment

With me it was eating smoked perch for my lunch on the beach. A first. Seeing a pied wagtail that was just about all white. Meeting a large primary school party of various ages that were celebrating the end of term with a three day cycling trip. All really enjoying them selves. Meeting the Danish Ambassador to Estonia with her official transport a bike.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Vaida was a very good leader. Gave us excellent information especially about the lengths of each day and each leg of cycling. She took us to excellent restaurants and all the food was good to excellent. I particularly liked receiving the maps each day and finding out where we were cycling from and too.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you can, practice a few 20 milers on flat land.

Superb Cycle Trip

This trip offers the chance to experience both a quiet rural part of Italy (Cilento) and then the hustle and excitement of the Amalfi coast. The trip was very well planned and executed throughout. It is physically tough in places with some long climbs and could be classed as a ‘4’ rather than ‘3’ but this makes it all the more rewarding. The scenery is breathtaking – especially in Amalfi. This, along with the exceptional Italian cuisine, and a couple of espressos keeps motivation and morale high and the miles effortlessly tick away.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the highest point along the Amalfi Coastal road and stopping to look back along the coast where we had cycled from.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alessandro was extremely attentive, a fountain of knowledge and had a great sense of humour. He had some unique insights into Cilento - his local region where he also farms. He effortlessly managed to knit together a group with mixed levels of fittness.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The support van is never that far away and there is a small bag on the bike so there is no need to take a rucksack, pump tools etc. Just a water bottle (refilled from the van whenever required), small camera and wallet. I took SPDs and shoes which are great if you use them.

MWC180527

Great ride which was excellently managed by Alfonso. I had a fall and my cuts were attended to by Alfonso in a quick and efficient manner. He continued to check with me that all was okay which was very much appreciated.

Most Inspirational Moment

Finishing. It was a much harder ride than I expected. Very fullfilling adventure.

Excellent

Advice for Potential Travellers

Gear for all seasons

Walking in Puglia and Matera

This was a fantastic trip with three very different locations to stay in and experience. The accommodation in each location was original and very comfortable. The walking, itinerary and our guide, Nino, were just excellent.

Most Inspirational Moment

Enjoying the sights and views of Matera. I’d love to go back.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Nino was excellent. He was very caring and thought everything through thoroughly. He catered for everyone’s needs and tastes.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take non-slip shoes for Matera (no high heels and nothing without a non-slip sole.

Another fantastic holiday.

A superb opportunity to cycle through the Albanian mountains. Great food, cheap beer and lovely weather. Tremendous.

Most Inspirational Moment

The last day was a fantastic challenge.

Thoughts on Group Leader

A lovely person, helpful and kind. A real gent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Tale a small towel to wipe away the sweat!

A fantastic trip

A great tour. It covers so many places and sites; we felt we’d seen as much of the country as we possibly could in the time.

Most Inspirational Moment

1. The desert trip to Wadi Rum was simply wonderful. Loved travelling in the jeeps. 2. walking down the Siq to the Treasury at Petra. 3. Having lunch overlooking the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. 4. snorkelling at Aqaba. 5. the Mosaic at Madaba!!!! Is that too many? There are more! 😊

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eddy is SIMPLY THE BEST. He is so knowledgeable about everywhere we went. He gave us so much information. He doesn’t overburden you though. He has a great sense of humour. You feel also that he is vigilant of every person’s needs at different times and is taking care of you.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don’t take too much luggage! Don’t forget your torch for the desert (I used my phone) Be prepared for primitive sleeping conditions in the desert (though you do have a bed!) Don’t complain or moan; no one on our trip moaned about anything - it would be awful to have a moaner on board! (If you drink alcohol Take a couple of bottles of Gin with you - especially if it’s Ramadan - you can get the Tonic ; but alcohol was in very short supply throughout ! )

Highly Recommend

Fabulous cycling week in Tuscany. Very well organised trip and excellently supported by the two guides (Radu and Jonny). We had a small group of only 6 guests but we all got along tremendously well and had great fun. The cycling was a good workout each day but that meant more gelatos could be tasted and more lovely Tuscan cuisine could be eaten at dinner each night. You need to be able to peddle up hills but the countryside is beautiful and the views are worth it. Highly recommend.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top of some challenging hill climbs and realising I could do it, the views of the countryside, the medieval towns we visited and the panoramic views of the city when we arrived in Florence.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Both guides (Radu and Jonny) were professional, helpful and extremely friendly and approachable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do some hill training before you come as it's very hilly in this area but it was nothing I couldn't handle and I'm just a casual cyclist who usually goes out once a week for 20-30 miles, but I do live in the Chiltern hills so I'm used to peddling up hill.

Amazing trip

An unforgettable trip. Saw so many amazing things. The scenery is spectacular and I just sat looking out of the window throughout the long journeys- not a moment was wasted. The natural landscape is so majestic and yet there will be a track winding up the hillside and terracing right to the top. The power of nature and the ingenuity of people is humbling and intriguing.

Most Inspirational Moment

I walked on my own along the path to the Inca Bridge and, although I thoroughly enjoyed the walk, felt very small and a bit vulnerable knowing one trip or slip and I could fall a very long way- people would have walked this type of path, with their children, carrying everything in the past. I think the geography and landscape was what took my breath away.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Daniel Ramos was brilliant. He had so much knowledge and passion for the history, cultures and geography of the country, which he shared with us. He looked after us all so well. Thank you.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it. When Peruvians say it is cold, to those of us from England it was a summer day we would be very happy with! We needed less warm clothes and more hot weather clothes :-)
