An excellent holiday with so much to see and do.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many inspitational moments but if I had to select one it would be seeing the procession in Kandy. Excellently arranged by our guide even to sorting our evening meaL. The fire dancers and highly decorated elephants were a sight to behold. The drommers and dancers added to the occasion.I will never forget it.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roshan was superb. He was highly skilled in getting the group to see as much as possible of his country. He was also quite relaxed letting us have enough time to see the sights e.g. around the temples and the statues of the Buddha. His instructions were always clear and explanatory. But most of all he was fun! An absolute brilliant guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take clothes to cover up but only needed for temples. But dress respectfully at other times.

Do this trip soon! Romania is fantastic!

This is our 6th cycling trip with Exodus and it is one of the best. The route was wonderful with views of the Carpathians, fields of corn and potatoes and horses pulling carts. We are experienced cyclists and the 3/10 level lets one burn some calories but still leave time to visit monasteries, water-driven flour mills and fortified churches. It was good to know in advance that we might have to share a bathroom (4 times, but it worked out) and that the food is rustic home cooking (great cheese, cured meats, mashed potatoes, lots of tomatoes and cucumbers). Our leader, Tudor, was excellent. Remember to save time to do a free walking tour in Bucharest on the last day. Travel guides say that tourism in Romania is “budding”–do this trip now before the country changes!

Most Inspirational Moment

Witnessing the beautiful rural life with an abundance of local crops. Learning the influence of Mongols and Turks, and the Silk Road from China, as this country is so far East. Riding alone on a country road with the yellow flowers all around.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tudor did an excellent job. He let us bike at our own pace which is very important. He had incredible knowledge and love of the area. Also, he put together a WhatsApp group for us (by individual consent) at the beginning. We could share pictures and get more pictures of ourselves. Why hasn't anyone thought of that before? Our driver, Livio was calm and capable. He would provide snacks such as chocolate from his Communist childhood and tell us the story. Or candy bars with the name of the nearby Fagaras Mountains.

Gorgeous Seasides & Mountains - HOT August temps

Really enjoyable itinerary and the trip leader, Mario, was fun and entertaining and did a wonderful job. The overall rating of “3” moderate is appropriate as a weekly average, although some walks were a “1” and perhaps one day might rate a “4” due to the size of the rocks and boulders along much of the path. The seaside views were stunning and the sea itself lovely for evening swims. Definitely take your togs and plan on swimming. August proved very hot and very crowded during the summer holidays – probably not the best month to see Croatia, and particularly not good timing for Krka N.P. as it was a national holiday and quite honestly over sold for the day. Dubrovnik was beautiful and worthy of adding an additional day on the front end if possible. Accommodations, transfers, flights (we booked our own), and meals were all very good.

Most Inspirational Moment

The coastal views of the towns and villages....... The old city walls of Dubrovnik..... Diocletian's Roman Palace in Split (we arranged our own guided tour, which was well worthwhile)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mario did a great job. He is personable and fun-loving, and everyone enjoyed his company and camaraderie.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If possible, go outside of the peak tourist season and summary holidays. If you enjoy good food and wine, plan on spending a bit more than the recommended allowances, especially in Dubrovnik and Split - it's well worth it! Walking shoes or boots with decent soles and cushion go a long way on the rocky terrain. Carry a few spare coins for public toilets in the cities. Croatia is a beautiful country and easily traveled. If you have the time and inclination - add a few days on the front or back end to explore.

Very enjoyable cycling holiday

This trip is a great way to see Albania and experience the local way of life. The scenery is stunning.

Most Inspirational Moment

The visit to Butrin was very interesting. The scenery was stunning, particularly the views of the exemely high mountains.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Dhimo was an extremely good tour leader. He is personable and has good organizational skills. He is also very kknowledgeable on local history.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Albania is a hilly country. The more cycle training you do for the holiday, the more you'll enjoy it.

Hiking the French (Swiss and Italian) Alps

Another great Exodus trip under my belt, and I’m looking ahead to see where I want to go next.
The Highlights of Mont Blanc seemed to be the perfect blend of exercise and comfort for me. Our guide, shaun set a great pace that we were all able to maintain. We had several opportunities to go higher and further or shorten the day with a descent or cable car ride.
The food at the chalet was the best I’ve ever had on a group tour. Thanks to Rich and Sarah!
My only complaint was the weak and unreliable wifi in the chalet. Couldn’t get a connection in my room, only in the lounge.

Most Inspirational Moment

On our third day of hiking, we did about 3400 ft of elevation and 7 miles. It was difficult but thrilling, especially when the hang glider came very close to us.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Shaun did a great job taking us away from over crowded Chamonix (UTMB week) and pacing the group so everyone could do as much as they wanted.

Guide excellent, tour ok, accomodation lacking

I recommend you. Is it these countries to help them develop their tourism, so they can rebuild their countries for the future. The world can learn from their past, spreading their stories to prevent wars like they experienced.

They are not sophisticated regarding tourism, but they are finding their way because the government does not invest enough and therefore citizens are using tourism money to invest in rebuilding themselves. The stories of resilience and the spectacular scenery make these countries a must see now, before they get to commercially sophisticated.

The only tour downside was the quality of accomodation on the tour which I felt were 1-2star level and did not live up to the price of the tour.

Most Inspirational Moment

The countries were stunning, sometimes raw and compelling which was refreshing (its sobering to see mortar and sniper damaged buildings that show their recent past). The citizens were warm, friendly and couldn’t do enough for tourists as they need to build a strong tourism industry to create more jobs to help each country prosper.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The tour leader (Sabina) was excellent and made our trip great. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, careing, friendly and shared personal family stories that bought the regions historical past and impacts to life for us. Would travel with her as a guide in a heartbeat. She spoke exceptional English, had great humour and supported everyone individual needs.

Advice for Potential Travellers

2 of the 3 short hikes/walks were ok if you were average fitness, the 3rd and last hike really did need people to be a bit above average fitness, though you could sit it out and do something else on you own if you wanted.

Summer in the mountains surrounding Mont Blanc

A thoroughly enjoyable trek through France, Switzerland and Italy. It’s a lovely feeling to walk everywhere (with the occasional use of local buses). The hotels and auberges were comfortable and we were well fed throughout the trip. There was a large choice of food and fruits for packed lunches which we made ourselves, choosing as much as we wanted. The walking was fabulous, I loved seeing the different scenery and villages.

Most Inspirational Moment

I particularly enjoyed walking over the cols to the next valleys. Always a wow moment.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Nick was a great guide, and knew a lot about the mountains and the things living in them. I don't think anyone was ever anxious about what the day might bring as trickier parts of the walk were dealt with as we arrived at them and not over thought of before. He had a calm, relaxed manner which made all the days enjoyable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Always carry wet weather gear. We only had just over an hour of rain on one occasion whilst walking but I was grateful for the waterproofs I'd carried for nearly a fortnight. Do get fit but don't over worry. We live in a very flat area so only really walk up hills and mountains whilst on holiday and we had no problem. Carry plenty of water. Be prepared to wait for slower members of the group... never a problem when you're an such beautiful surroundings!

Mt Toubkal Climb 7 day trek

I have a wonderful time met some amazing people and shared the adventure of a lifetime. I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday to anyone who loves hiking/trekking

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the summit

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mohamed Idali was a very well informed local guide from the Berber community who spoke good English. His extensive knowledge of the High Atlas put everyone’s mind at rest whilst in remote areas.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Drink lots of water to prevent altitude sickness

The trek of a lifetime

It’s absolutely amazing that you can walk for 2 weeks in such an unique place without seeing any other groups (there one just another one). Beautiful scenery, tough terrain, good food and amazing local staff.

Most Inspirational Moment

Urdukus and Concordia

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara is fantastic. She's always on top of things, which is essential for a tour leader on this trip. Her medical knowledge came really handy for a few people on our group. Her relationship with the locals, and her involvement in local projects is very inspirational.
