Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top after 8 cold windy dark hours

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take mittens not gloves for summit night as much warmer Hire warm down coat and mittens from the company especially if you feel the cold

What a Fantastic Island, what Fantastic People

Corsica has all that you could want for adventurers on a Mediterranean island. Mountains, forests, wildlife, plants and a way of life adapted to the environment.

Most Inspirational Moment

Scrambling up the side of a mountain on a rugged path with like-minded people who quickly became friends. All this followed by a cooling dip in crystal clear pools in a mountain stream under a hot sun.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sebastien, our group leader made it all possible with his understanding of the logistics but even more so with his passion for and knowledge of this incredible island. Sebastien was able to keep us informed and amused in an environment that created trust and ensured, above all else, safety. From history to language to culture to flora and fauna we had all the information we needed to make this an exceptional week but it was down to Sebastien to make sure that all of the elements worked together.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Corsica is great and as an Italian speaker I was able to speak to local people, me in Italian and they in Corsican. Of course they also speak French and many English but they do like people to also speak their own, vibrant language. If you like butterflies, you won't be disappointed - the two tailed pasha was a highlight. The walking is not too hard although some parts are tougher than others; a section of the GR20 allows you to see the potential of this famous route.

My first cycling holiday, definitely not the last

Thoroughly enjoyable 6 days of cycling in great company, final day sightseeing of Bran Castle and Peles.
Cycling never difficult, mainly rural farmland scenery and rolling hills. A few uncomfortable dirt, rutted tracks but bikes good enough to cope.
Stop off activities all worthwhile apart from Bran Castle – a congested tourist zoo which is best avoided.
Peles fabulous, beautiful setting
Social evenings with food, drink and great companionship.

Most Inspirational Moment

Romanian short hills proved more challenging than the bastard long ones! Seeing rural Transylvania and the life people lead a real treat, coming back to the busyness of London and M25 quite a shock. And how great a place to visit is Bucharest, people had warned me it would disappoint.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Radu is superb. Well organised, knowledgeable, friendly and wanting everybody to have the best experience. Manged to smile and soldier on whilst wrestling with a nasty sore throat for a few days.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Expect mixed cycling terrain (much good road, but also gravel/dirt roads, rutted farm tracks, and a little bit of unpleasant congested main road) because that's what you'll get. If you want to see Bucharest then go early or stay on after, definitely worth a couple of days. Pay to go on the tour at Peles, worth it.

Excellent holiday with a great guide and group of fellow travellers

We could not have wished for a better holiday. The guide, Stephano, was ideal for our group. He was patient, humorous and concerned for our wellbeing. He also arrange for our weather to be fantastic for the week. The walks had that Goldilocks aspect to them, not too hard yet not too easy. And what fantastic scenery and food. The hotel staff were excellent and made us all feel welcome.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to choose as so much was so good. Loved the Walk of the Gods, Ravello, Vesuvius and Herculaneum.

Excellent - see above

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go with an open mind.

You’ve got to see Ecuador

If you want variety then look no further; this trip had it all and more.
Scenery (stunning), history, wildlife and culture.
Boat trips, train rides, walking, easy hiking, wildlife spotting.
Volcanoes, Rain Forest, Cloud Forest, the Andes, sugar and cocoa plantations.
I even learnt how to use a blowpipe.
Great weather throughout the two weeks; only rained for one day (in the rain forest, so expected).

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably the Devils Nose railway but many, many other moments came a close second.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ivan Tarapuez is a typical example of an Exodus guide; simply excellent. His knowledge, friendliness and dry sense of humour made him special. A credit to his industry and country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pick up the phone and book the trip.

Prosecco Hills

Vania was the most amazing guide by providing us with the most amazing walks, tailored to everyone’s needs. She went above and beyond what was expected of her even on her day and week off afterwards.
The only reason I didn’t give excellent was because the hotel let you down. With it closing for refurbishment, a lot of facilities were not available like the restaurant and the rooms were shabby and some items were not working. IE. The safe and shower in my room.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Thoughts on Group Leader

She is the best. Warm, kind, thoughtful, very social, accommodating, and goes beyond the call if duty. I went specifically on this trip, that week to walk again with Vania. I walked with her in Amalfi last year.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Choose a trip with Vania.

Cycling to Santiago

A great week cycling the Camino from Leon to Santiago. The weather was fantastic, the scenery beautiful and we all got on very well as a group. Compared to some tours its not a high number of miles a day, the longest day being day 6 at 41 miles. This means you dont have to start too early (9am or 9:30am) and there are plenty of stops for refreshments with the food and drink being relatively cheap. The cycling gets tougher as the week goes on though its manageable with a good level of fitness, the highlight being the 8km climb up to O’Cebreiro (the border between Castille and Galicia). The accommodation is a good standard with a few of the hotels having a bath which felt great after a hot days cycling.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were a couple. The climb up to O'Cebreiro, where you just have to keep going and I started to feel a few old injuries as I pushed to the top. Secondly, arriving at the beautiful square in front of Santiago Cathedral at the end of our journey and then later in the day receiving your Pilgrims certificate.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alfonso was a great guide very friendly and approachable and communicated well with the group and he was well backed up by Nacho.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As long as you have a decent level of fitness this is a great trip and you cycle door to door so no transfers once you get started. The fitter you are the more you will enjoy it, though no one on the group had to use the van. Enjoy the descents you deserve them after some hard ascents. Embrace the spirit of the Camino.

Glorious Scenery but very rushed

Excellent bikes and Andy always there for any minor adjustments. Glorious scenery but the trip needs some rethinking .
Most days we arrived at our hotel at 5-5:30 pm. By the time we had checked in, had a shower, it was time to head out for dinner. Restaurants, very mediocre apart from the one in Trento, and quite a long walk from the hotel.
It was a large group of 15, so coffee and lunch stops were far too long. Some glorious scenery, climbs longer than we had anticipated. Lake Garda and Venice very crowded.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most enjoyable day was day 6 to Padova, with the stop at The WInery and lunch. A long fast downhill after lunch which was great.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jon was very friendly and out going, though not his usual trip. I don't think he is used to managing such a large group and as mentioned coffee and lunch breaks just too long. In any one day, the actual cycle time was approximately 4hours, yet we were leaving the hotel by 9:30 and not arriving at our destination until 5:30 most days. Andy was always there with water.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for some long climbs. The trip notes on day 6 are incorrect. We had an altitude gain of 600m not 200m

Highlights of Provence

Excellent experience of Provence.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walk through the Verdon Gorge was scenery unparalleled.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Isabelle was a true gift to us, in our experience of Provence. She had a passion for and great knowledge of the culture ,history, flora and fauna of Provence. She was kind and considerate to each individual, enabling the group to work as one.She provided assistance and guidance as required, both on the walks and afterwards. Additionally she had a great sense of fun and provided welcomed treats along our fabulous journeys. Our Provence dream was realised with Isabelle's guidance, even a swim in the Verdon ! Thank you so very much.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to enjoy ! Some of the rocky/ pebbly terrain may be be a new experience for some but very manageable with trecking poles, good hiking bootsand taking time. The leader will guide you.
