Please note you will be told, by Exodus, that your luggage will be put through at San Paulo and this is absolutely not the case. You will need to recheck your luggage. This caused people to miss their connections/sprint to catch their connection. I asked for a longer connection time and Exodus said no causing unnecessary stress. The tour leader, Tony, was absolutely lush and very knowledgeable and if there was an animal to spot he spotted it. Arasas Lodge is nice, but in reality the itinerary was really lacking here with several hours to kill between activities (10-4pm). It felt like a last minute add on as they couldn’t just make the trip 4 days. I would say the cost of the trip really is not good value for money and sadly I could not recommend this trip though we did see the jaguars.

Awesome trip with a home base in an amazing hotel with great views, pool and breakfast buffet. The walks were different terrain every day, beautiful scenery. Gizer was an excellent, knowledgeable, funny guide. He arranged dinners, trips, could not ask for a better leader of the group. The only complaint: very hot weather that made the hiking less enjoyable than ideal. Definitely recommended!
Must take the day trip to Famagusta and Dalamis!
Excellent!
Be ready for hot weather.
The scenery, the wildlife and Whistler!
JP was such a great tour guide/driver, he was really welcoming and made every day entertaining and interesting, even on the day we had our long drive. He made sure we stopped often, even if it were for 10 mins, just to see more waterfalls or lakes! He really went out of his way to ensure everyone enjoyed the trip and knew what was happening each day and were safe. He was brilliant at adapting even on the days when a road closure meant we had to divert. He had great food recommendations as well for our dinners or just coffee.
An excellent, well organised trip led by J-P. Despite a group with a wide age range and mixed ability his organisational skills, empathy ,great sense of humour and determination that we should all enjoy the trip facilitated the trip of a lifetime for all of us. The Rockies are stunning and we had gloriouis weather for the most part. The day it snowed was when we walked on the glacier so added to the authenticity. The trip was a good combination of sights to see and trails to walk and there was no pressure. The hotels or lodges were all very comfortable as was the minivan where everyone took in turns to enjoy the more scenic seats. It was good having 20 year olds in the group. Meals out together were great fun. My expectations for the holiday were high. they were surpassed
SEEING A LARGE MOOSE IN ITS NATURAL SURROUNDINGS Moraine Lake walking on the glacier and meeting the NASA scientists
Excellent. J-P was instrumental in the success of this trip. His organisational skills, empathy ,sense of humour and determination to make the trip memorable for all of us was commendable. He cared a lot. He is also a very good driver, calm and skilful.
Take your binoculars. Good mixture of sightseeing, hiking and love of the great outdoors. The scenery is stunning
The Walking in Puglia and Matera guided tour gives an excellent introduction to the heel of Italy. This trip stayed at three hotels, all very good. Comfortable and clean rooms, great breakfast choices plus swimming pools at two of the three. The walking was varied from strolling through olive groves in Puglia to scrambling around the rocky gorge at Matera. The towns with trulli houses and the incredible rock city of Matera were memorable.
So many highlights! The best day we walked down through olive groves of ancient characterful trees to the coast, where we swam in the Adriatic and had a delicious sea-food lunch.
Gabriele was the best leader you could wish for: kind, knowledgeable and unfailingly enthusiastic, he went above and beyond to deal with unexpected problems and ensure we all had a wonderful time. The good comradeship of the group was in large part down to his efforts. Brilliant!
It was unexpectedly hot in late September at over 30 degrees. Bring water flasks/bladders - we were drinking 2 to 3 litres each on the longer walks (8 miles). In most places the tap water is safe, but not at the rural masseria hotel. Proper walking boots and poles were a huge help in the walking around the Matera gorge, and sturdy walking shoes or sandals with good grips are essential for the slippery limestone steps and paving of the city's steep streets.
A brilliant trip all round. The cycling, accommodation, food, bikes – all excellent. Variety of coastal roads, forest paths, villages. Good road surfaces. Liked the hotel to hotel cycling nature of the week.
Zooming downhill at a speed never reached before!
Ruben was a superb leader. Joao too, they made a great team. Ruben was attentive, friendly, ensured all were happy and well organised. His warmth and love for his country came through at all times. A briefing at the end of the day provided a summary, forecast for what to expect the next day and great recommendations and advice about what to see and where to go for dinner. This was followed up with reservations made and maps to make sure we got there! Joao was a great driver, back up and picnic provider. Nothing was too much trouble. Can honestly say they are the best team I have had on my various Exodus holidays.
Enjoy! The pace is leisurely and plenty of time to regain your breath after the odd hill!
I have been on several wildlife trips with Exodus and I think this is probably , all things considered the best one that I have been on when taking into account the wonderful support of the guide Elly and the great crew on the boat . The variety of activities on offer, the locations, the food and the hotel accommodation all had a part to play in contributing to that recommendation.
For me as an interested amateur wildlife photographer I have to say that the most inspirational moment was getting such great shots of the orangutans in Sumatra. Wildlife can never be guaranteed but we were very lucky to see as may as we did . I also got some wonderFul shots of the Komodo dragons and Thomas leaf monkeys.
Elly was a fantastic leader and was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about her country and its nature. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was always concerned about our well being. Elly always took us to great restaurants that she had checked out beforehand. .
I bought my visa on arrival at Medan airport with no problems whatsoever. I chose to change some currency before I got there and was able to pay in IDR though I think a colleague paid in euros. There is a fair bit of climbing both in the jungle and temples so a walking stick(s) are handy . I was provided with a bamboo stick for the jungle. I only went on 3 hour walks into the jungle . I heard that the 6 hour walk was considerably more strenuous with not much more to be gained in terms of wildlife sitings.
A great trip with a good combination of walking, sightseeing, culture and history
Lots to choose from but the optional trip to Famagusta stands out for me. So interesting!
Gizer is an excellent group leader. He is very knowledgeable and he brings alive the various sites visited with his explanations and stories. He is very caring and considerate, and goes the extra mile to ensure every member of the group has everything they want and need. His evening meetings by the pool bar, provide a great chance to chat about the day you've had and to make sure everyone knows what to expect and what to take for the next day. He kindly provided a trip to Nicosia on the last day which was fascinating and so much better then ‘kicking our heels’ before the late flight back.
It's VERY hot in September, we had mid to high 30s most days which I found a bit too hot for walking. Take some lira (or get it from the ATM) as it’s useful especially for tips and the odd extra drink at mealtimes, however cards are also widely accepted.
A well organised group tour in a very quiet and stunning part of northern Italy. Right mix of walking, Prosecco tasting and dining in local restaurants.
Seeing all the vineyards with the Glera grapes was beautiful. The walking was good and often went through the vineyards.
Our group leader Vania was wonderful. She was always mindful of each individual in the group and made sure all travellers could participate. She had a lovely sense of humour and made sure there was a bar with Prosecco at the end of most walks so we could appreciate the Prosecco Hills fully!
Take walking poles. The trip is described as leisurely. However, there are parts on loose stones and some walks had very steep climbs. Walking poles are essential, as some of our party tripped on some paths.
A very good mix of Balkan history, culture and lovely countryside.
Having lunchtime meals in villages in Montenegro and Bosnia. getting to see the welcome from the local families.
It was Fatima's first solo lead and she had to cope with two trips to A&E to help travelers who got sick or injured - a baptism of fire. She was understandably nervous but determined we should all have a great time. Her personal passion for Bosnia and all that it has gone through in recent times shone through and made the trip very memorable - reminding us of the challenges of the conflicts of the recent past.
Some longish days in the bus but worth it for the scenery. The first day after pick up from airport you do go back into Bosnia Herzogovina for a lunch stop - it does not take cards and there was no ATM near by so we had to borrow some local currency from Fatima - please remember to pay her back!
