EVEREST BASE CAMP

The trek to Everest Base Camp was awe inspiring and beyond my wildest dreams.  There are no words in the English Language that can describe the enormity of my thoughts and feelings about this trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The trek is inspirational in its entirety but the first sight of Everest and Abu Dablum, to mention but a few, is a truly magical moment and took my breath away. I loved the villages and Nepalese people and the three hour climb to Namache Bazar was well worth the effort.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader, Pasong, was knowledgeable and patient. He took time to get to know the team and he, and his team of guides, knew just when help or encouragement was needed and provided it in equal measures.  They were all true professionals, without whom I would not have been able to complete the challenge.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Really just to go without any preconceived ideas.  Obviously do all the practical stuff that is suggested in the guide notes from Exodus and do travel light.  I could not have done without wet wipes and two fantastic merino wool base layers.

COLOURS OF RAJASTHAN

I was completely open-minded about India, didn’t know what I would find, and wanted to learn and experience what cannot be found in books.  This tour did all of that.

Most Inspirational Moment

I don't think this is the right question for being in India ...  it is like being on a different planet, but with new-found friends to share and discuss and thrill with.    The tour name "Colours of Rajasthan" is appropriate ...  silks, sunlight, saris, smiles, marble, jewels, farmlands .... contrasted with dust and the other inevitable non-beauties of this country.   Food ...  delicious and a huge variety!

Thoughts on Group Leader

DJ was fantastic.  Sensitive, hard-working, responsible, respectful, gentle, sincere, efficient ...  I was especially touched by, and impressed with, his special consideration for an elderly lady on our tour.    DJ was knowledgeable about his country and customs, and answered fully, honestly and interestingly anything we asked about.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pay attention to the section in the brochure about "Is this tour for you".  The only way to see as much of India as we did ...  and as much of the truth as possible - is on a tour like this, at street level and in the middle of the chaos.   And leave space in your suitcase for shopping.

SOUTH AFRICAN WALKING SAFARI

A truly memorable holiday but be prepared for some log journeys between stops.

Most Inspirational Moment

1. Watching a sleeping lion being woken by the distant and faint roar of another lion - our sleeping lion sat up and responded with a ground vibrating series of roars. It was incredibly emotional and awe inspiring, so much so that a few members of the group were in tears.2. The Drakensberg mountains were spectacular and climbing the chain ladders an exhilerating experience. We felt as though we were on top of the world looking at the view.3. Surviving a powerful thunderstorm whilst camping in St Lucia - I thought our tent was going to blow away!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Francois and Andrew (ably supported by Phili) couldn't have done more to ensure that we had a good time.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for some very long journeys in the bus (which was very comfortable). We didn't expect to be sitting down as much as we did. Despite the long journeys you are rewarded with the opportunity to see so many interesing sights. The shared accommodation was generally clean and comfortable but if you are a light sleeper make sure that you have some good earplugs because it is almost inevitable that a few of your fellow travellers will snore!Take a specific plug adapter for South Africa as we couldn't use our multi purpose travel plug in the SA electrical system.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MOROCCO

Thought this trip would meet my needs and it certainly did! Active but with rest periods and paced to meet everyones needs.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching Essouira and seeing the rolling waves after fantastic walking and mountain views in abundance!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very discreetly yet alert to all our needs

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go, go go!!

EVEREST BASE CAMP

What a great holiday!!!! All the staff were so helpful and cold not do anymore to help us. I would like to say a big thank you to Passand and his team for doing a great job. It would not be the right holiday for someone how is not fit as it very demanding trip with lots of ups and downs and very uneven paths to walk on. Thanks for a top first class holiday Steven Hamer

Most Inspirational Moment

I had tears in my eyes when i got to base camp as very special place to get to.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Passand could have not done more to help us he is a first class leader well done

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get very fit !!!!!!!!!!!

SOUTH AFRICAN WALKING SAFARI

We had an excellent adventure and were exceedingly well looked after by the crew. We seemed to spend a lot of time in the mini bus for a "walking safari" but it did means we saw a lot of South Africa.

Most Inspirational Moment

The highlight of our holiday was the walking in the Drakensberg Mountains. They are spectacular and the walking was not too difficult.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader made sure we kept the timetable, firm but fair. His cooking was superb and he could be found at all hours preparing for our welfare. We were very lucky with our 3 man crew.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get fit before you go if you want to enjoy the walking.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

An amazing trip to be remembered.. I liked every thing about it. The walks the food and the company was great.. Very well organized thanks to our tour guide Christine.. The pace of the walks was quite convenient. We had several stops on our way to enjoy the amazing scenery while walking..walking along the Amalfi cliff is exceptional with a sea and mountain view at the same time..

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking along the volcano at Mount Vesuvius..

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine was an excellent guide.Very well Organized informative and friendly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Wear many clothes layers.. Weather changes during the same walk from warm to cold to rainy sometimes.

VIETNAM ADVENTURE

The trip far exceeded our expectations, one of the best trips we have had. Our guide Trung had excellent knowledge of history, the country, the best places to eat. His people skills are excellent, what a lovely character. You couldn’t wish for a better guide. He looked after us so well too.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many inspirational points, the country is so beautiful and the people so friendly. Many don't have a lot, but work hard to make a living and made us so welcome wherever we went. The Vietnamese people are an asset to their country. Halong Bay is beautiful. Hanoi is amazing but chaotic. The train journey was an experience. Saigon is a beautiful vibrant city. The Mekong is beautiful, as is the country from north to south

Thoughts on Group Leader

We couldn't have requested a better group leader. His knowledge of the history Vietnam was very good especially the Indo China wars. He had a balanced understanding of the effect of the wars had on the population. Trung led our group to excellent places to eat,it made it so enjoyable. Trung has excellent leadership skills, he handled the threat of the cyclone very calmly. The group were all older than Trung yet he inspired confidence whatever the situation. He has an excellent sense of humour and made us laugh so many times. Trung is caring and made sure that we were well looked after. He is an asset to Exodus.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The trains are not as bad as some travellers have reported, but travellers need to be prepared that carriages need to be shared, as well as rooms in the Homestay.

CYCLING IN SARDINIA

Much enjoyed this trip – it was very well organised and the party of 16 got on very well.

Most Inspirational Moment

First half hour of the third day - as we descended the ca. 500m that we had had to climb up the previous afternon, down a beautifully engineered mountain road back to seal level!Several swims in the Mediterranean and the splendid picnics organised by our leader and his assistant.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent and that applies both to Lieven Loots and to Marco, his Sardinian assistant.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't underestimate the amount of uphill cycling needed - but if I (aged 74) could do it so can you!

PATAGONIAN HIGHLIGHTS

A splendid trip that truly captured the highlights of Patagonia.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the Torres del Paine, which are so iconic, was terrific. Even though it snowed on the hike, it was still a wonderful day. Fitzroy was a close runner-up. And Magellan Strait, of course -- a very ordinary strip of water with such huge historical importance (and besides, Magellan was one of my childhood heroes).

Thoughts on Group Leader

Couldn't ask for a better leader than Xavier. When a trip goes smoothly, you know it is the result of a lot of hard work; and he did it. Great pride in his country and always happy to discuss Argentina with curious foreigners. We learned a lot from him. The local guides at various stops were uniformly excellent; they made the trip so much more interesting.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take plenty of layers; the weather really can change quickly. Take plenty of US dollars, get to BA a few days early and find a way to convert to pesos at a good rate, not the official one. Take binoculars or a good long lens for your camera; lots of wildlife to focus on.
