Singalila Ridge & Sikkim - A well organised trek and tour

Amazing sunrises and sunsets. We were lucky to have good weather on trek.
Tour drives were mostly pretty rough rutted post-monsoon mountain roads, but exciting, skillfully navigated by good drivers, and comfortable in large cars. Drives were often fairly long – but with tea breaks!
Hotels: the hotel in Darjeeling was perhaps the least comfortable, the basic tea house at the end of the trek the most comfortable surprise, and the hotel in Gangtok the most beautiful and hospitable.
Camping was very well supported. Camp meals were very good, varied and plentiful.

Most Inspirational Moment

On one misty morning, on the ridge, the sun cast our shadows as Brocken Spectres on the mist below, with Lohtse, Everest & Makalu beyond.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tour leader Dilip was excellent, keeping a watchful eye on folk, leading from the back marker position! Excellent skills organising varied transport, tea stops, support team and the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We travelled from Manchester, arrived early and had chance to grab a taxi at the hotel and explore Qutb minar, Humayun's tomb and Lodi Gardens (entertained by Grey Kites divebombing Picnics). Impressive and diverse islamic architecture at all three sites. Do go for good four seasons or arctic sleeping bag plus silk and fleece liners - the nights were cold in November. Would add to pack list - face masks for some sections of the drives & ear plugs for the Ghoom train (can be heard from 40 miles away) (or better still just skip the short train trip and travel in the cars).

Tiger, Tiger

Visiting 3 of India’s National Parks should enhance your chances of finding this majestic predator. However you should also enjoy the rest of what the parks have to offer as well – amazing wildlife and, at this time of the year, scenery to embrace and enjoy.

Most Inspirational Moment

Undoubtedly it is seeing a tiger. Being a bit of a tiger freak, for me it was being able to spend some quaility time with one - which we achieved on our last morning drive - just magical. Nothing like leaving it to the last moment - but it stays with you for a long time!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Singh was good and got us where we needed to be in good time. Nothing was too much trouble for him - even taking some of us to the Spice Market in Delhi on our last day - on the Metro!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for the very cold mornings at this time of the year (Nov) - wrap up in layers, as it is warm during the day! It can be very dusty at times in the Parks too.

Discover Namibia - Amazing Wildlife, Scenery and People

Namibia is a county diverse in its landscapes and wildlife. This trip lets you see it all – including chilly star filled desert nights, high dunes at sunrise, varied game drives and a range of optional activities to cater for every taste. Namibia has everything – and does not mind sharing!

Most Inspirational Moment

For me there are so many - sunrise at Sossusvlei, Rock Paintings at Twyfelfontein or seeing group Cheetahs cross the road in Etosha. On a trip like this it really is impossible to pick one great moment as each experience is a highlight in its own right.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Shane, Freddie and Happy were an amazing crew - working tirelessly to make the trip a success. These guys made us feel so welcome and comfortable from day one.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travelling in November is very hot during the day (30-35C) and can be quite cold at night (4-8C) a three season bag is ideal; however as you head north it can warm up a lot over night and you may find yourself sleeping in just your liner. Plugs are large 3 pin ones - if you don't have one you can get one on arrival (the China Shop in Rehoboth does the best ones!). We had a couple of days where it was quite windy so be prepared to deal with some blown dust (if you are a photographer make sure you have suitable protection for your kit). Rand is accepted everywhere and can be bought in advance and changed when you return home (whereas N$ cannot).

Patagonian Highlights

This was a great holiday. We had a good bunch of people who “clicked” almost immediately. We had a fantastic leader who made everything so much better. The views were outstanding. Even the long bus rides didn’t seem that bad. Lots of breaks to stretch our legs

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Torres de Paine so close after the bit of a scramble to get to them.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic. One of the best that I have ever had. Knowledgeable and very personable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do not under estimate the difficulty of the 2 treks- Fitzroy Paine and Torres de Paine. They are not gentle strolls!

Everest base camp

Great trip, wonderful team mates, excellent support. Tea houses quite basic, especially at altitude – hot water would have been nice and rooms with just a tiny bit more comfort. Food fine. We’re planning the next one. I’d prefer to pay upfront rather than all the extras, such as food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Everest View Hotel

Thoughts on Group Leader

Utterly excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Expect it to be harsh at altitude.

Miss

If you want to discover the treasures that Central America holds then this is the trip.
From the erupting heights of the volcanoes in Nicaragua through the readiness of the tropical forests and coastlines of Costa Rica and finishing at the engineering practical of the Panama Canal.
Throughout the tour we were encouraged, befriended and guided by our 4 tour leaders. All of this could not have been possible without our bikes being loaded, unloaded, transported, oiled, and pumped by the magnificent quatro, so all we had to do was hanker down and cycle and have a fantastic time. Thank you team N.CR.P.

Most Inspirational Moment

Sharing it with a great group and listening to their travel stories and being with like minded people it has inspired me to go on other exodus trips.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic lady was very patient with all our questions no matter how daft some of them were.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a gel cover for your seat and don't think too much about booking the holiday. JUST BOOK IT!

Cycling in a monsoon in Sri Lanka

I did the trip in November and overall it was very good. The leader, Suresh, and his local crew are outstanding in every way. Suresh has all the skills to be a fantastic guide and the team did everything possible to make sure we had a good holiday.
I enjoyed the mix of cycling and seeing cultural sights. I gained a good understanding of the country and appreciated seeing the many World Heritage sights and breathtakingly beautiful Buddha images, especially the reclining Buddha at Polunnaruwa. The cycling was challenging but satisfying and the food was delicious.
Unfortunately we experienced 14 days of rain and some days it was pretty constant and heavy. Some local people I talked with said this was normal for November and others said it was unusual. I brought clothing expecting hot and humid weather with some rain and this turned out to be a mistake. I suggest wearing all lycra or quick dry clothing. My cotton shorts and tops were constantly wet, heavy, and filthy and were not able to dry out overnight.
This was my first trip with Exodus and I would definitely book with them again.

Primates and Dragons of Indonesia

Fantastic way to see both orang-utans and komodo dragons in the wild. It is difficult to find a trip that takes you to Komodo, so this one is great that you get to both Komodo and Rinca.

Also got to see many other animals, including turtles and a shark whilst snorkelling, snakes and lizards and other primates.

Trip notes list the trip as moderate activity but first few days are a lot more active than that.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting so close to the orang-utans was something special.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eddy was very helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take plenty of mosquito spray as the mosquitos are plentiful in Sumatra. Make sure you are fairly fit to cope with the jungle treks, the trip to the bat cave and the volcano trek.

Spice Trails of Kerala - Nov 2014

A superb itinerary – well thought out & executed. Never a dull moment.
The food provided throughout the trip was fantastic – you need to be a fan of curry though!
The local communities are genuinely friendly and welcoming.
The trip allowed for personal preference to be taken into consideration.

Most Inspirational Moment

Some of the mountain landscape views on the trekking portion of the trip. It is a wonderful country with breathtaking views.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Marvellous - absolutely faultless in judgement, communication and local knowledge. Tour guides do not come any better than this. Perfect.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It rains. Even at the tale end of the wet season there is plenty of precipitation and grey skies. Take adequate water proof clothing and some warm clothes for the cool evenings in the mountains.

great way to see jordan

a wonderful trip around jordan bringing together the highlights in a bit of a whistlestop tour, yet with enough time to really get a feel for the country and the cycling bought the wonderful landscapes into reality rather than just watching them float by on a bus

Most Inspirational Moment

the beautiful landscapes and the view points at petra, wandering through petra feeling that only we were inside and exploring the magical city

Thoughts on Group Leader

he definitely had the insider knowledge and his wealth of experience and contacts was evident

Advice for Potential Travellers

be warned it can rain at the dead sea. be prepared for all weathers especially after november it can be cold !! but still beautiful
