The Inca Empire made its home in the Andes and it is often said that Peru has a unique fusion between history and natural environment. For mountain lovers, it is comparable with the Himalaya, but it also has an unrivalled history that sets it apart from any other mountainous area in the world.
The Inca Trail is a ‘must’ for any walker and is the most famous trek in South America. It was constructed as a highway connecting Cuzco with the lost city of Machu Picchu. The original trail has been carefully and comprehensively restored and, although it can be quite busy at times, it is unquestionably the most rewarding way to arrive at Machu Picchu; join one of our Peru walking trips and you’ll pass through wonderful mountain landscapes of Amazonian cloud forest and snow-capped Andean peaks….
Although it is more than just a simple stroll, it should be within the capability of anyone who is in good health and fitness, and the rewards certainly justify the physical effort.

Trekking, jungle and indigenous culture – the best Peru has to offer
If you think of Tuscany you think of rolling hills. Stop. The Garfagnana Mountains are a relatively undiscovered part of Tuscany……..and they are indeed Mountains !!!! In fact they are superb mountains with beautiful climbs through gorgeous forests, onto green plateaus with alpine flowers and finally onto the rocky craggy peaks with 360 degree views far and wide. Where better to sit with your new group of friends and have a tasty picnic lunch. This is one of the best walking trips I have been on with Exodus……….made even better by the unique accommodation and the splendid food provided. I cannot fault it in any way.
This was a trip that will live long in the memory. The Dolomites are an impressive mountain range beneath which lies beautiful lush meadows and pine forests. The walks were excellent using footpaths and tracks that offer outstanding views of this stunning region. The hotel was comfortable and the staff offered excellent service but I was not overly impressed with the dinner choices being mainly vegetarian, they seemed repetitive and overly salty. Breakfast selection however was varied and of high quality and the ability to prepare your own lunches was a bonus. I would certainly like to return to this holiday again in the future by choosing the Level 5 option as I would like to actually walk up some of the mountains rather than admiring them from afar and so that is what I did on my free day by climbing the Durrenstein peak. We were truly blessed with the outstanding dry and sunny weather which also allowed for some excellent photographic opportunities.
