Hi, I will be travelling to the national parks in August and am wondering how likely it is that I will see a grizzly bear?! Also how bad are the mosquitos at that time of year?

Dear ALK,

It's great to hear that you're booked on our Alaska Wildlife and Wilderness trip. August is a good time to see Grizzly bears and there are several areas on the trip where you'll have a good chance of seeing them - the float plane trip on Day 13 is the most likely day for a Grizzly encounter and one of the trip highlights! Normally in Alaska you can expect mosquitos in June, July and August (with June and July being the peak season), so it would be wise to take a good repellant with you to offer some protection.

Kind regards

Vicky (Trip Manager)
