Hi, Anyone going on the 14 July trek in Ladakh? My daughter and I are going out a few days early to acclimatise and explore volunteering opportunities as she is staying for a few months. Really looking forward to it already - need to get fit though!

Hi Valerie - good to hear from you. Thanks for the suggestion - will let you know where we're staying. We'll arrive on the morning of Friday 13th, so plan to do very little at first. Think there is a festival at Phyang that weekend so may try to go there. Any other suggestions welcome! Have you got any recommendations for book/s to read? - I've just read Ancient Futures which is interesting about the impact of "development" on the area - hope to read something more and learn a little about Buddhism there.

Good place to stay is Yartsa Guest house (not Karzu as I said before). Lovely lady and nice simple Ladakhi house - I stay there when not with a group. Good book to read is Ladakh Crossroads of High Asia by Janet Rizvi. Can buy it in Leh at indian prices - there is a good bookshop in the market opposite the monastery in town - great choice of books. Andrew Harvey book also good. Great little rooftop cafe above the bookshop as well with great views of the town. If you need any help in Leh go to Venture Ladakh in Changspa and speak to Chospel - he is one of our Exodus leaders.

Thanks for that Valerie. Think we're staying in the group hotel which is a pity as it looks quite big, but Em will go to the Yartsa when she stays on. Will contact Chospel if we need to, but will force ourselves to acclimatise first.

Wondered if most people bother taking anti malarials for the very short time we are in Delhi? The rest of the group are very quiet.

Gillian and Emily - can you give me your flight details from Delhi to Leh. Chospel will meet you at Leh airport and take you to the Royal Heritage Resort where you are staying. If you let me know what flight number and arrival time then he can meet you at the airport.

Pick up by Chospel would be great! Thanks. We arrive from Delhi on flight 9W-1607 at 07.50. Is there an email/contact number for Chospel if it changes?

Chospels mobile is 9858323091 and e-mail is    chospel5@yahoo.com

if by chance no-one is there at the airport then just outside is a small prepaid taxi office - it costs approx Rs150 for taxi for the 15mins drive to town. The hotel is Royal Heritage Resort on Fort Road.

Thanks for the details Valerie.

Hear that there are 15 of us now - looking forward to meeting everyone on Monday 16th July at the hotel. Em and I are wondering about spending that day at the Phyang festival, whilst the group are acclimatising - hope that's ok.
