Well it seems the group has grown enough already to guarantee the trip, get in touch if you fancy a meet for some training, me and 3 mates are booked on the trip but live in very distant parts of the UK - Liverpool (me), Inverness (i think), London and Portsmouth. We will meet up at some point before the main trip so join us if you want to share the training (Lake District, Scotland, Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia), tips etc...We all completed Kilimanjaro last year (2012) with Exodus.

Hi Mark

Good to know our trip is guaranteed.  Myself (Marjorie) and friend Dorothy have just been out today on the Clwydian hills attempting early training.  Did 10 miles, felt more like 15 due to the snow and rivers of ice.  However that's the great thing about retirement you can be out there whenever you please.  Have never been with Exodus, but last year did independent trekking and completed the Annapurna Circuit and also have completed Mount Ararat and Everest Base Camp.  Now desperately trying to get fit after Christmas excesses and also a love of wine!!!!

Nice to hear from you Marjorie, that area is one of my favourites, that's where i first started my wd i'm sure some of alking days (5 years ago). Just back from a walk with Gary (one of the lads from Kilimanjaro) in the Cairngorms, really tough 5 hours through waist deep snow in some areas.

Had a really good experience on Kilimanjaro with 7 other mad lads, we got on really well as i'm sure you will too, there are 4 in total with a small possibility of some of the others going?

I'll try and arrange a day with you both if i can and maybe one or two of the lads too?

Keep in touch and i'm sure the others will be on line soon.

Hi all,

Can't wait to get started on this trip after doing Kilimanjaro last year (not sure I'd call myself mad though Mark, think that's only you :-p).  This will be my third trip with Exodus, last year to Kilimanjaro and a few years before that around Thailand... we were well looked after on both occasions.  I'll be picking your brains Marjorie about the Annapurna Circuit, I'd love to go back to Nepal and do some more trekking!

I've just moved up from Portsmouth to Leamington Spa (not many hills down south!), so if anyone fancies some walking feel free to give me a bell (07731100026)!

Just found my log-in details again so can say hello and keep in touch with the Atlas Mountains Group.

Mark, Mitch & Alan - looking forward to a meet-up again soon. Not sure whether my legs can take any more tramping through Lake District bogs or Cairngorms snow though !!

Marjorie & Dorothy - Hello and welcome to you both. I'm the one of Mark's mates that lives in Scotland.

Hi all fellow travellers,

Very much looking forward to the trip in June. Will be a real challenge for me, I did the tour de mont Blanc last year with Exodus, without too much effort so wanted to do something as bit tougher. Had a great holiday, met loads of nice people, including my fellow paddy, Sally, also coming on this trip,  so will look forward to some good chats and a laugh en route! Very excited to hear all your stories and experiences. AM living in Guernsey so not a lot of mountains to train, so will have to hope for the best!

Stay in touch,

Louise

Hi all, I'm Mitch one of the Kili group, welcome to you all. Can't wait to get going again, should be an interesting trip, Me, Alan, Gary and Mark met last year in Africa, can't beleive I'm going with them again, you don't know what you are in for ! Only joking, they are all great lads, we all had a brilliant time on Kilimanjaro. Looking forward to meeting you all, maybe before as we will be meeting up somewhere in the UK for some training, and a drink or 2!

Hi all fellow trekkers - I'm Dorothy, long-suffering fellow trekker and friend of Marjorie!  Have missed training this week having decided that 'ladies who lunch' was a better option!  However, last week we were walking in the snow and ice on the Carneddau range in Snowdonia.  Bitterly cold, gale force winds and 10 miles up and down the slopes made for good training.  Looking forward to meeting you all - if anyone is coming to N Wales for a walk we would be happy to meet up (and also have a drink!)   Haven't been to Morocco before - have trekked in the Himalaya, Turkey and long-distance trails in the UK, not bad for a pair who came to walking late in life and got the trekking bug.

Hi everyone,

Have been thinking about going on this trip for a couple of years and decided this is the year.

Training will be interesting living in Norfolk as the highest point here is 110m above sea level.

Been on a few of the exodus hiking trips and always had a great time with great groups.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying wonderful scenery.

Hello all,

I'm am off work starting Thursday 28th March to Tuesday 2nd April, Easter Weekend so apologies, but i need a big walk under my belt soon, if anyone is interested let me know.

I was thinking of going to North Wales or even Brecon Beacons, i want to do more distance rather than height (got a new pair of boots to break in) plus i think the Atlas Mountains will be a tough one for distance. Let me know if you can make that weekend and i will try and sort out a camp if possible/required.

We can discuss the walk between those who can make it, i will also send an e-mail in case some of the Kili boys dont look on here.

Cheers

Hi Mark

Did you get to Snowdonia, as the weather has been appalling in N Wales?  After a two week Easter break we hit the hills again.  Even at a lower level the drifts were still around and in some areas were waist deep. Looking forward to meeting you all. Are you all flying out of Gatwick? See you soon.

Hope everyone is well and look forward to meeting you all soon..... looks like a rendez vous in Gatwick then?

Hi all,

Marjorie and I doing our best to stay (get?) fit and embarked on a training walk on the west coast of North Wales yesterday, starting near Dolgellau and ending in Barmouth.  It was bright but bitterly cold on the hilltops and we came down glowing as a result of wind-burn!  We were walking for about 7 hours and I'm not in too much pain today! However, as I tend to feel the effects of a strenuous slog after two days I could well be incapacitated tomorrow!  Very much looking forward to meeting you all,

Dorothy

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well and enjoying the most recent spell of good weather? So looking forward to meeting you all , do you want to meet up in airport rather than just meeting at departure gate? North terminal, cafe rouge, after security. Should be there with my mate Sally from 12.30 onwards? Would have suggested a bar but maybe a bit early for drinking? Other suggestions also welcome, will check this post a few days before leaving......

Enjoy the sun,

Louise

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 23:22

Hi Louise & all others on our trip, I look forward to meeting you all, " a bit early for drinking " when has it been a bit early for drinking whan we are on holiday. But yes will look in cafe rouge first if you are not there Ill try the bar, not many bars up the mountain ! See you soon, Dave Q.

Tue, 05/28/2013 - 20:44

Mark & myself will start the drinking even earlier as we're staying in the Gatwick Airport Travelodge on the Saturday night so should any of you be passing ???

Tue, 05/28/2013 - 20:50

Hi all, hope everyone is well and ready to go, better get to the bar quick then as Gary and Mark might have cleaned the bar out ! Is anyone changing money before we go, if so what's the limit ?

see you all soon

Mitch

Tue, 05/28/2013 - 22:02

Hi Mitch, I have enquired about the money & have been told by a local Co-op travel shop that I can not get any Dirams as it is a closed money in the country so I am taking cash to change at the airport on arival as sugested by Exodus.

Hi Louise, you can always get a cupa in the bar with us lads but Ill still look out for you.

Sorry that I have not got a picture on my profile, cant find how to download from my pics, so you will have to look out for a bald bloke with walking boots on & an Exodus tag on his rucksake . Dave Q.

Wed, 05/29/2013 - 11:06

Hi all,

Whatever the time of day/night always have a beer in the bar to get the holiday going. Will prob end up at red lion unless anyone knows of a better pub in north terminal. Looks like there will be a couple of bald blokes with exodus tags on their rucksacks and wearing hiking boots :-)
Money wise, i will get some money from cash machine in the airport at Marrakech.
The lovely weather has been great, no hills here so just went for a couple of 20+ mile walks along the coast of try and get some walking fitness.

See you soon

With Mark being a bald bloke as well this is starting to sound like a Yul Brynnet convention !!

Wed, 05/29/2013 - 21:08

Baldies rule I say, got my photo on now so you will all know when to hide. Dave Q.

You will find the 4 of us in the pub mate? It's the best place to meet and chat about the things you need to do on the mountain, I hope everyone is open minded, the body works in mysterious ways in altitude and there are no toilet blocks around either, I feel sorry for the ladies, at least we can pee anywhere! There I go again !! Not even on the mountain yet but I'm in the zone.....STOP.......Hammer time?

Wed, 05/29/2013 - 22:28

Which one did you get cut Mitch? Knees are holding out been to the gym in my leotard every night this week as well as last week, the odd twinge now and again but that's only when the fit young girls pass by!!

Thu, 05/30/2013 - 22:21

Got my kit bag a few weeks ago, may be they have given them out to the baldies first & have now run out ! Yuo should give Exodus a call on the email re a kit bag before it gets too late. Looking like the pub is going to be the place to be, are there a lot of pubs at the airport, Doug has sugested the Red Lion.

Sat, 06/01/2013 - 20:24

Hi Louise & Sally, hope you are well, have you changed you minds about meeting up, will you be in Cafe Rouge or "the pub" ? you will be able to get a cuppa in the pub I'm sure, it would be a shame if you were in a different place than the others, you might miss out on some gossip ! Hope to see you both there. Dave Q.

See you at the bar then guys.....Not that many bars there so you will be easy to find.

Another important thought.... Are we going to be alcohol free for most of the trip then or do I have to buy some Jameson on duty free  to take up the mountain? Cant beat a cold beer after a hard, hot walk though. Enjoy your week, stay well and see ye on Sunday, Yah!

Louise

Mon, 06/03/2013 - 09:12

Unfortunately alcohol is not recommended when heading to altitude above 3000m so probably not much chance of drinking except maybe day 8 and then after the 3rd peak. But I expect there will be a tipple or few before and after by the sounds of things.:-)

Mon, 06/03/2013 - 19:57

Hi Louise, Jamasons is one of my favorates. If you do get one for duty free & have a problem with carrying it "all round the mountains " I am sure there will be enough of us to help out so that it's not a burden befor we get to 3000mt; I will be bringing a wee dram in my hip flask. And anyhow if we ack dumb how will we know if we are above 3000mt. ( Please drink aware, visit - dirnk aware .com ). Sounds like we are all on for a good do. Looking forward to a few quick ones in the pub with all the boys & girls & maybe a few on the plane. Dave Q.

Sorry all, we should have said none of us Kili boys drink? Alcohol is dangerous on the mountain, you're all grown up so its your decision, you can have a read of my bible to get you past those urges!

Tue, 06/04/2013 - 20:47

Hi Kili boys, Ill take you up on the offer when I see the Atlas Mountain pigs flying. But they have to be in formation. ( my be after a dram at 3000mt we might see them ). Dave Q.

Hi everyone, departure date SO close now - need to start packing! On that note, I received my Exodus kitbag a month ago.  Do they issue one for every trek you go on or just the first?      Marjorie and I are looking forward to having a drink or two with you all in the Red Lion.  However, we never drink at altitude - too dehydrating.   Not sure if I'm wearing my boots for the journey out - usually put them in the rucksack.  Must go, things to do .................. Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday.  Dorothy.
