Linking the former capitals and spiritual strongholds of Bhutan, this journey travels deep into the country and culture and is timed to coincide with the Trongsa Festival. Held at the vast Trongsa Dzong, the kingdom’s political and religious fulcrum for centuries, the festival brings together sacred mask dances dedicated to Guru Rinpoche and a strong sense of local participation. Between festival days, we cross high mountain passes, walk in the Phobjikha Valley, and visit Punakha’s riverside dzong. The journey ends in Paro with the climb to the iconic Taktsang monastery, the Tiger’s Nest, rising sheer above the valley floor.
