Essential Turkey was a great tour. Started in Istanbul, a fascinating
City. Got to see a lot of the famous ancient sites on our trip. Relaxed in a small town on the Mediterranean and experienced a balloon ride over the amazing landscape of Cappadocia . The tour is jam packed! Great group of people which totally added to the trip.

Ozgur our group leader was amazing. Very organized,warm and friendly with a great sense of humor. His knowledge and sharing of Turkish history and culture really added to our trip.
There are some long days in bus, but interspersed with visits to places and food and bathroom breaks. Bus was very comfortable

The hot air balloon ride was amazing- I had no intention of doing that but so glad I did! We had a wonderful boat ride to some islands one day and I loved going to small seaside cities like Antolya and Kas.
Oz was so accommodating to all members of the group and made a point of checking with each of us to maximize the experience. I lost a suitcase on arrival in Istanbul and he facilitated its safe return- this really helped me relax and enjoy the whole trip!
I absolutely loved this trip. The mix of culture, history, and food was incredible — you really feel the blend of East and West. From ancient sites to authentic meals and unforgettable landscapes, every day offered something new, meaningful and memorable. Having Ilhan as our guide made the experience even better — his knowledge, passion and local insight added so much depth to the journey.
The hot-air balloon ride over Cappadocia at sunrise was absolutely breathtaking — seeing the fairy chimneys and valleys from above felt surreal. Later that day, Ilhan took us to a completely off-the-beaten-track spot where we could see the formations up close, with no one else around. Standing right beside them and learning how they were naturally created made the experience even more phenomenal.
Ilhan was amazing — incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and organized. He made every site meaningful and consistently took us to special spots throughout the tour that we never would have found on our own. The highlight was him guiding us to that hidden viewpoint in Cappadocia to experience the fairy chimneys up close. His insight and expertise genuinely elevated the entire trip.

This is a fast moving trip in that you spend mostly one night in each place. There was some hiking, walking, and swimming. We saw so many wonderful sights and had a taste of speciality food known for the area.
Aspendos Roman Theatre, whirling Dervishes, hiking through Ihilara Valley. It was all so amazing.
Ilhan was very knowledgeable and organized. He accommodated the group as needed especially when we had slower moving travelers. He organized group dinner at local restaurants and explained the speciality foods from the region. He was a superb guide.

The splendour of the archaeological sites
Haydar was an exceptional tour guide. Nothing seemed too much trouble to make sure we were happy. Genuinely interested in everyone's health and welfare. Always made sure we were drinking enough water and fastening our seats belts. A wicked sense of humour whatever situation. Extensive international experience. Superb organisation and reorganisation skills when required. Provide multiple toilet/food/pharmacy stops for those of us in need. An excellent communicator.
I got back from this trip 5 days ago. Everything was great! I don’t know where to start with my rave reviews. Our group leader was Ilham and he was amazing! His English was great and he helped us with translation at the restaurants and vendors. I loved stopping to eat at very local and family places. One place for Turkish pizzas had the whole family pitching in and we were outside near the brick oven with chickens and ducks running past us! I really appreciated that our money went to LOCAL and FAMILY run businesses! Ilham would download the tickets to the sites on his phone in advance, he made our entry so quick. He was always one step ahead of the game! Logistics were flawless, because he knew when to get to the various sites to avoid the crowds as much as possible. I enjoyed the modest hotels, once again family run and usually very convenient to the town center. This trip fulfilled all my expectations and then some! Ed

Outstanding Tour — visiting important military, historical, cultural, and religious sites. Wonderful group of travelers who watched out for each other, were on time, courteous and kind.
Swimming in the Mediterranean Sea
Ilhan was a great group leader. Smart, engaging and patient, he kept us safe, on time, and informed.
This trip is classified as "easy" but you'll definitely get your 10K daily steps in and many of those will be up and down stairs. Perfect for the traveler interested in Greco/Roman/Ottoman architecture, artifacts, history and ruins.
Good driver. Excellent guide. Hotels well chosen. Itinerary great. Initial Airport pickup bit chaotic.
