Iceland October 2025

To be able to get an idea of a country by driving around it is something I would recommend wherever you are. Even better when someone else does the driving.
The views even with unpredictable weather were always second to none. Black sand beaches and icebergs one minute, Lunar like landscapes the next. Spectacular waterfalls around even turn. Enormous fjords and glaciers that you can actually hear moving.

I celebrated my 50th birthday whilst on this trip and the northern lights came out in the evening!! how lucky. Our guide Palmi had bought his camera phone and a tripod and so we all got a group shot of us with the lights, brilliant idea.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Palmi was great. He was laid back and funny, a great talker. Made sure that everyone was looked after, clear about times and where to meet etc. His knowledge and love for his country was clear throughout. We had a WhatsApp group to share pictures with one another and to stay in touch. Just a fantastic bloke, give him a raise.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a great holiday to do if you just want a break from walking and cycling holidays. The accommodation overall was good. Everywhere was clean and warm. The breakfasts could see you through to dinner time. Iceland is no more expensive than London in a good restaurant. The days are packed with lots to see which was great for my camera.... We did the Vok baths, highly recommend. swam in a 6 degree lake and then getting into a geothermal pool heated to 40 degrees was life affirming. I will visit again.

Jon guide trip

Has always been on my bucket list! Did not disappoint.

All of it. Wonderful adventure!

Jon was excellent! So knowledgeable and full of sagas, takes, folklore! Was kind and a very polite man. He made the trip!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Plan for windy weather most of the time, good walking shoes/boots and to enjoy the moments!

The land of fire and ice did not dissapoint

Our Iceland winter tour was fantastic! The accommodations were simple yet comfortable, and the included meals were excellent. We explored a perfect mix of top sights and hidden gems, with a few lovely walks included. Winter roads were a bit challenging, and we did miss a few stops due to snowfall and road closures, but it made me grateful someone else was doing the driving. Our incredible tour leader shared fascinating Icelandic sagas and added personal touches for each of us. He even introduced us to a new “waterfall of the day” and tried to include little extras to make up for the missed stops, even though the weather was beyond anyone’s control. We just missed the puffins by about a week, but we were lucky enough to catch a couple of great Northern Lights shows. Highly recommend this tour for an unforgettable winter adventure!

Most Inspirational Moment

Daily waterfalls covered in snow and ice but still powerfull

A wonderful teddy bear of a man full of interesting stories

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack warmer than you think and more waterproofs. Weather changes very fast. Some long drives so bring a podcast or book for the road

Gorgeous country with amazing sights!

Scenery is utterly amazing, especially if you haven’t been to New Zealand. Comfortable bus with individual USB ports at every seat. Lots of stops (generally every 45 mins or so). Back roads can be bumpy. Food is VERY expensive so be prepared. It’s cold – even in summer months – so bring scarf, hat, gloves.

Most Inspirational Moment

Glacier lake - amazing!

Jon was a great guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, flexible and extremely helpful. He went above and beyond to help each traveler. Took great care of us.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Food and alcohol is EXTREMELY expensive in Iceland (like $25 US for a bowl of soup at lunch!) so you might need to get creative, especially in the more remote locations. We bought crackers, spreadable cheese and fruit at Bonus supermarkets (the least expensive) and had Happy Hour in our room. Also, if you're a couple, you probably won't get a double bed. We had to push single beds together in most hotels. Apparently, Exodus' system doesn't differentiate couples from two singles so try to address this with Exodus by phone in advance (if you can get a live person). Few elevators so be prepared to carry your suitcase up or down stairs (pack as light as possible). Some excursions are more strenuous than indicated by the Activity Level Rating for this trip (2) - steep climbs in a couple of places.

Excellent leisurely trip around Iceland to give a real flavour of the country and what it has to offer

Most Inspirational Moment

Glacial ice flows

Thoughts on Group Leader

Orri, was excellent. Probably one of the best guides we have had on many trips. Kept the interest going for the full 9 days.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take wind proof clothing and layers for warmth. Expect to pay something like £40-£50 per day on food / beverages.

Winter wonderland

Going in winter one gets to see Iceland in all its Winter Wonderland glory. The frozen waterfalls, good chance of seeing the northern lights, once you’re away from the golden circle sights its much quieter. We were Very lucky with the weather until last couple of days when the strong winds and closed roads altered the itinerary, but there are other things to see. The tour covers a lot of ground, with a fair bit of driving, but there are lots of stops along the way and the scenery is lovely!

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved the glacier lagoon that went to the sea where the beach was covered in chunks of smooth ice, with seals popping up along the way. Frozen waterfalls were so picturesque. All the opportunities to soak in the thermal baths were well received. I could've spent all day at the natural springs near lake Myvatn, so relaxing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jon was a brilliant leader, full of enthusiasm and energy and obviously has a great love of his country, entertaining us with his stories from trolls to eurovision! Always cheery and when weather stopped us visiting somewhere, he found something else for us to see.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If visiting in winter, be prepared for cold, biting wind, a glove you can use a phone without taking it off would be handy! I'm very glad I had a thermos flask. Some rooms don't have kettles, but hot water and tea/coffee are freely available in hotels restaurant. Cards taken everywhere, so no need to take spending money.

Excellent guide and tour

Fantastic tour, and our guide was excellent (Jon – spelling?). Only thing is that it would have been preferable to have more weather specific guidance regarding gear that would be helpful – such as crampons with ice spike etc.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic.
