I had a such a great time. It was the first time I had been on holiday on my own and I’d been worried about having to meet perfect strangers and spend a week together but I met a group of really lovely people and felt I was amongst friends from the first evening. Paulo, our guide and Rafielle (apologies for the spelling) our mechanic were really helpful and went out of their way to ensure we were all well looked after and had a good time. I would definitely go on another trip.
There were a few for me. The first was that I needn't have worried about having booked to go on the holiday on my own. I met such a lovely group of people and I had such a fantastic time. It was such an eye opener to me. I found myself thinking and saying out loud that I should have done it years ago! The trip was topped off by such a fabulous day of cycling along the Amalfi Coast, the memory of which will stay with me for a very long time.
Paulo was wonderful. He gave explanations of where we were going and what to expect. He looked after us so well and went out of his way to ensure we had a great time and got as much enjoyment from the trip as possible. His enthusiasm was always 100%.
To have some cycling experience . Everything was taken care of with regard to travel arrangements, hotels, meals etc but only you can prepare yourself for the actual cycling and the inevitable hills on such a trip.
This is an amazing trip. All the staff and owners at this family hotel in Bomerano were very helpful and friendly. Food and vino wonderful too. Each day was a new experience with wonderful views and history to learn.
We had very full days which made each day more enjoyable after a good nights sleep.
When we did the Walk of the Gods it was a cloudy day but when we arrived in Positano the sun shone brightly. Wonderful experience and a good walk too.
Christine Rooney a very knowledgeable friendly guide. She was always helpful and a lot of fun with her stories.
Be prepared for a very busy long day and dinner a little later than what you may expect at home.
The country more than lived up to expectations. The emphasis on conservation provided some memorable moments. Hotels and lodges were above average and those with pools were a bonus after a long day of enjoyment.
Watching a green turtle lay her eggs and then following her back to the sea. Lump in throat as she caught the wave and returned to her environment!
Gustavo was an enthusiastic and patient leader, ensuring we all enjoyed views of distant wildlife through his scope. He and our driver Erick worked hard to ensure our days were as carefree as possible.
Don't worry about the water! What comes out of the taps is safe to drink and eating salads was a novelty on this type of holiday. The water coming down is a different matter. Carry a waterproof at ALL times and keep your fingers crossed that you won't need it.
Fab holiday, lovely group and leaders.
Meeting the leader and his story inspired me.
Fab, inspirational in what he does. I might have to try the walking in the Dolomites now!
You have to have a head for heights
This was my first walking holiday and I really enjoyed it. The Riviera is beautiful. The walks along the spectacular coastline, up in the hills and through the seemingly timeless villages were all excellent. It’s hard to believe that some people live there all the time. The other people on the holiday were all nice and friendly, so I should not have worried before booking.
Probably Roquebrune but it was all good. On Saturday morning in Menton I saw Chris Froome, Tour de France winner.
Sandrine is a great guide. She has lots of knowledge of the region, was always friendly and cheerful and was always well organised. I like her taste in coffee.
I got a few insect bites but insects love me, so others might have no problems.
There are some long drives but the scenery is awesome and we were fortunate getting day after day of warm sunshine.
There were several. Seeing El Capitan and Half Dome again after 33 years. Climbing to Angels Landing in Zion NP. Seeing the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon. The Navajo experience at Monument Valley and descending to Plateau Point in the incomparable Grand Canyon.
We had a different leader each week. Both of them were very good.
Be prepared for some long days travelling and carry plenty of water. Eating out is a great pleasure but allow for the 18%tips.
Fantastic trek with amazing contrasts in scenery; jungle and monkeys to the high mountains in only a few days. Nice pace to each day that ensured that the altitude increase was never a problem. Superb Exodus Leader and wonderful Guides and Porters made the trek a truly memorable experience.
Reaching ABC , Annapurna Base Camp on a clear, crisp day with the panorama of the Sanctuary laid out before us was amazing. To achieve this in the company of a lovely group of like minded people made it all the more special.
Great Guy, so passionate about his country and the people. Always on hand to share his knowledge of the mountains, the animals , the plants and the culture and always looking out for the safety of the clients. Added to this was the humour and when encouraged some great singing !
Don't be put off by the situation in Nepal post Earthquake - get out there and have a great time but also help the country recover by spending some money.
This was one of the better cycling trips I have done. Cycling was challenging only 1 or 2 days. We cycled through some amazing scenery. The architecture in several of the towns, especially Modica, was extraordinary. Some hotels were better than others, but that is what to expect on an Exodus trip. And it goes without saying that the food, especially the seafood and deserts, was yummy!
Reaching the most southern tip of Sicily, and putting my left foot in the Mediterranean, and right foot in the Ionean Sea. It is my Facebook cover page, and the wallpaper on my computer at work.
Our guide Thomas was so thorough, organized, and especially caring of all travelers. He encouraged the less experienced cyclists as they struggled up the hills. Any request was looked into and honored.
BRING BUG REPELLENT! The mosquitos are relentless, and they are everywhere, even in the larger cities like Catania. If you have extra days in the beginning or end, visit Taormina.
From the start our guide was informative and prepared us for the Inca Trail. The Sacred Valley trip was worth doing the day before the trek started too. The porters were always at hand, we were looked after incredibly well with fresh food and enough to keep energy levels up. The scenery was stunning and worth the trek to Machu Picchu. All along the way our guide gave us information on the plants, area and ruins we passed through. At times, when the altitude made walking up steep paths more difficult, we could take our time without any pressure.
Reaching Dead Womans Pass on day 2 in the cloud and the moment you reach the end of your journey at the Sun Gate.
Supportive, patient guide with a supreme amount of local knowledge. What was also important was his humour and ability to converse with the rest of the group at meal times. Couldn't have asked for a better guide.
Give yourself a few days to acclimatise before embarking on the trek. Boiled sweets (not necessarily the Coca ones) definitely helped along the trek. A metallic water bottle doubled up as a hot water bottle at night!
