Great Fun

Really fun trip with a very sociable bunch of fellow trekkers.Quite a lot of travel(as it says on the tin).Not a trip for anyone not used to fairly strenuous walking.Bunk beds in refugios so if allocated a top bunk you have to be quite agile.Be aware that weather notoriously fickle in Patagonia and seeing the mountains not guaranteed.

Everything complimentary that has been said in the past about Pepe is true.His professionalism,efficiency and unfailing cheerful good humour contributed hugely to the enjoyment of the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Try to avoid taking cash out of ATM's (very expensive) Chilean pesos not needed.Cards accepted in all refugios and nearly everywhere else.Dollars accepted most places(not taxis) and easy to change for Argentinian pesos. Charging and wifi available all refugios(not free)and hotels. Take a sleeping bag liner for Refugio Los Cuernos. Add extra day at beginning to explore Buenos Aires Wear insect repellant

Highly recommend this trek.

This is my fifth trek in Nepal and definitely my favourite. Happy to have done this before the road is complete as this will change the remote nature of this trek.
We had a fantastic group who supported each other, particularly on the day crossing the pass.
This trek is more challenging than Annapurna Circuit and Gokyo/Everest.
Our guide Keshar was simply the best, can’t say enough about him. Also great to have Zoe from Exodus London office as my roommate. I feel very fortunate to have been on this trek.

Fabulous experience - and responsible tourism!

Loved every minute of our Atlas Panorama trip. Good balance between city and village life. Lovely trekking routes. Great hospitality. The trip notes are accurate. Highly recommended.

Most Inspirational Moment

Our guide Hamid, himself was inspirational! Heading out at 7am from our riad on a cool, dark November morning (equipped with our head torches) for a 31 km hike. Another was our leader, Hamid, providing after dinner entertainment - singing and playing drums. Another was our afternoon at the hamman in the village - well done exodus, a great example of responsible tourism.

Excellent. Hamid looked after the whole group so well. He was very good fun and very willing to tell us about village life. He also paced our treks well to suit the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We were there in November and temperatures were chilly at night in the mountains, as you would expect, so pack warm layers for winter. Trip notes describe this trip accurately. Do pack water purification tablets or water filter to reduce plastic bottled water and bring some gifts for the village school. It's a nice gesture.

We didn't have a great experience

Our experience was that there were a number of significant issues with this Exodus tour;
– The tour lead was quite poor and we had issues with poor communication, being rushed from place to place, pressure to cycle quickly and therefore unable to enjoy the sights/views.
– Bikes provided were basically ‘end of life’ and we had issues with poor gear changes.

It contains quite a bit of bus time (4-5 hours at a time) and you feel like you are being rushed around all the time – the result is that it isn’t very relaxed, and we were frustrated that we didn’t have time to enjoy many of the places we visited/went through.

We were told that demand for this tour meant that Exodus had increased from 1 to 4 tours/week, but it looks like the bike maintenance/replacement hadn’t taken this into account, and possible why we ended up with a Tour Lead who was below par (as they didn’t have enough good tour leads).

We think Exodus need to take a good hard look at this tour and make sure that the quality is massively improved.

Most Inspirational Moment

The inspirational moments didn't happen on any part of the Exodus tour, but in the extra days we booked ourselves in Saigon and Hanoi - basically because we had time to relax and enjoy the places.

Nice bloke, but very lacking in confidence and lacking the core management skills, e.g. clear communication, managing the group, managing his team etc.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Check before you go what you are going to get in terms of condition of the bikes, and what feedback has been for the tour lead you are going to get - make sure you get the 'A' team. Definately book 1-2 extra days in Saigon and Hanoi if you can - the hotels are cheap, they are fascinating cities and the tour just doesn't give you any time to explore them.

Wonderful Experience

A wonderful insight to this facinating country. Seeing the country by bike is certainly the best way to do it, giving the opportunity to get an insight into the real Japan and it’s people. We travelled in late November, spot on for autumn colours but obviously run the risk of colder, wet and windy weather. That said a bit of rain and strong headwind are a price worth paying. Accommodation was a mixture local Ryokans and modern hotels. The standard of the hotels was mixed, but generally very good. The food was one of the highlights, lots of real japanese food in all its guises from formal set meals (dressed in traditional kimonos) to simple noodles or curry/rice for lunch. Another highlight was definitely the guide Tatsuya ‘Tea’ along with his driver Tiachi and assistant Akiko. Organisation was calm and slick with clearly a lot of effort going on behind the scenes. The last couple of days are in Kyoto, this is good, but the hords of fellow tourists at the big attractions make you realise how special the time cycling away from the crowds was. If you are thinking of visiting Japan and are modestly cycle fit I would wholeheartedly recommend this trip (and in our case it attracted a very pleasant, like-minded group of people to share our experience).

Wonders of Egypt

This trip offered a wide variety of experiences along the length of the River Nile.The trip was very well organised and Andrew our guide was extremely knowledgable and helpful.
The trip was full on with many early morning starts. Take extra money for the add on activities as without them the holiday would not have been so exiting.Be aware of extra charges at some of the sites such as a camera tax.
In my opinion the group size was too large and made it difficult to hear the guide at some sites that were always crowded.However the chemistry of the group was excellent and I very much enjoyed everyones company.
Accommodation throughout the trip was satisfactory to excellent.The Nile cruise experience was something I’ll never forget, but the highlights of the trip were the astounding places we visited.My favourite was the Valley of the Kings that simply ‘blew my mind away’.
I left this holiday with a feel good factor and my only regret is that we didn’t have more free time especially in the Cairo Museum.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many inspirational moments. The Nile Cruise was wonderful as were the visits to the World Heritage sites.I was however most inspired by the visit to the Valley of the Kings.Must return again one day.

Andrew was a very well organised and knowledgeable leader. He had good people skills and handled a large group well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don’t bother unpacking your suitcase. Bring lots of extra cash. Bring insect repellant other wise you will be bitten. Read up on Egyptian history before you go. Don’t buy anything in the government shops as they are a rip off.

Marokko landscapes

Very nice trip to see a lot of different landscapes. From a moon like view to a Oasis with palm trees. Some nice hotels and good food.
The cycling is a lot of downhill with sometimes a nice climb.

Some experience with a mountainbike is recommended. Personally I think that a full suspension bike would be better for this trip than the rental hardtail bike.

Classic Patagonia Trek

Excellent trek with lovely views of Torres del Paine in Chile and Cerro Torre in Argentina.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Pepe was an excellent leader. He arranged some lovely group meals in the evening and some little walks on our day off-a visit to a bird sanctuary in El Calafate and a walk to look for condors in El Chaltén.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Worth having a separate bag for summer clothes to leave in Buenos Aires You are given a very good travel towel and metallic water bottle in Torres del Paine to use on the trip. A sleeping bag liner was useful for the Los Cuernos refuge as they only have a sleeping bag and no sheets. Make sure your rucksack has a waterproof cover We had snow in El Chaltén so make sure you take layers When not on the trek it was quite nice to have different clothes for the evening Most places take Visa credit cards (MasterCard less so) though the internet is poor in El Chaltén so it doesn’t always work. You don’t need Chilean money at all. Even the San Telmo market stalls in Buenos Aires take dollars. Most of us were glad not to have booked an optional trip in El Calafate, we needed a rest!

Best Trip

Just did cycle trip Nov 8-23…what a fabulous time!!!. I am not a cyclist and was worried about being able to do this trip, but it was amazing. The group was large (18) with a mixture of couples and singles all around 25-69 yrs in age.
I did fall off the bike on the first day and ended with a slight sprained wrist and cuts and bruises. 2nd day fell off again lol. Our guide looked after me well. I did ride the bus in places I did not feel comfortable with. Cycling was pretty decent, around 12-15km/hr for most of the group, the faster riders went ahead. Bike teams were fabulous and kept the equipment well looked after, snack foods plentiful. The heat and humidity was incredible, but after 3 days I was fine.
Crossing boarders was easy. Visited many markets along the way and tried Grasshoppers, Silk Worms, Beetles, Snake, Tarantula, Scorpion and many other delicious Asian dishes.
Visiting the Killing Fields, S21, War museum was very eye opening. The home stay was amazing! what a beautiful experience, got to help with dinner prep, beds were comfy, out door shower relaxing.
The only thing I would say is if travelling single it is worth the extra cost to book single supplement. Spending 24/7 with the group is great but its nice to have time alone.
I took the advice of reviews and packed light…took a back pack and carry on and I did fine, you can wash clothes in the sink and it dries quickly or laundry is cheap.

The most inspirational part of the trip for me was visiting the killing fields, S21 and War museum.

Our group leader was IS....what can I say …. she is the BEST!!!! We all fell in love with her. what an amazing woman and friend. She had us on time and kept us safe,When I fell she was right there taking care of my wounds, showed us how the people live, shared many foods with us. She went above and beyond her job! If you are fortunate to have her as your guide you will truly enjoy your trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

make sure you are a seasoned cyclist, doing just spin classes wont be enough. The cycling is long, the first day is short, but the next 2 days will be about 80-90k the heat and humidity will be high! it was high 30s and humidity was around 72. Be sure you are very comfortable cycling in the city as the traffic can be quite heavy and very different from normal city cycling, I took the bus near the cities as I was totally not prepared. Bring some type of cream for the bottom lol. I did not care for Vietnam $$ so I changed it back into US currency as most places will take US dollars. I took about $100.00 US for each country and that was sufficient but if you want to drink alcohol and buy items then you would need more. For the Temples you would need to bring clothing that covers below the knees. As I mentioned before, if travelling solo then its worth the extra $ to book a single room.

Discover Costa Rica

A great trip to get an idea of the different environments in Costa Rica, we saw a huge amount of wildlife in such a short space of time.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to pick just one moment; seeing a sloth in the wild for the first time, the tiny turtle heading out of its nest down to the sea, the hummingbirds, the perfectly named resplendent quetzals, the macaws, the ever changing scenery, never ending laughter with the group of strangers that quickly became friends ……..just so many wonderful moments to remember.

Fantastic! Carlos Calvo is an excellent guide, his passion and knowledge knows no bounds, spotting animals and birds that we would have very easily missed. He is an amazing photographer and was more than happy to share his photos with the group. He is well organised and had a great sense of humour, interacting with everyone in the group with ease. Our driver Henry Fonseca was great too, he kept the minibus super clean, drove very carefully and always had a smile on his face.
