Bill McOwan

An excellent trip even though we could not complete the circuit because of the disaster on the Thorong La pass. My and I am sure the rest of the groups thoughts are with the families and friends of those who died or were injured in the storm.

The views of the mountains at Manang. Our Nepalise guides and porters who were always very helpful and always had a ready smile.

Kumar is an excellent leader and a credit to Exodus. He should be commended for a job well done.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure your kit is in good condition as you never know what weather you will get in the mountains - Monsoon rain to snow blizzards. Get your visa before you travel as the process at Kathmandu can take a very long time.

Atlas Mountains Trek

An amazing and well organised trip made even more enjoyable by a knowledgeable and personable guide. Breath-taking views surround you on your journey through the mountains and up to the highest peak of Toubkal.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was inspirational; he was knowledgeable and took great care to make sure each one of us was enjoying our trek. He was incredibly sensitive to everyoneâ€™s ability levels and took great care to make sure we stuck together as a group. He truly made the experience even more amazing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The trek can be pretty tricky in places, single file walking along a rocky and haphazard pass. Walking poles also a must on the summit!

Hidden Treasurers of Jordan

I can sum up the Hidden Treasurers of Jordan trip in one word “fabulous”. I normally go for the more involved type of holiday involving lots of climbing etc but thought I would give a more relaxed trip a go. I’m so glad I did. Jordan a country which seems to be going through a tourism crisis at the moment due to its neighbours Iraq, Syria, Israel, Gaza and Saudi should be classed as a “must visit” and due to the lack of tourists its a great time to go. The country is stunning, the people warm and friendly and the country is above all safe! The cuisine is a mixture of Arab, and European and very tasty. Its also the only Arabian county I’ve visited where wine, beer and spirits is freely available! What resonates the most is the sense of history that permeates Jordan from prehistoric to Roman, Byzantine, Crusades, First World War to the modern issues. Its a snapshot of world history wrapped up in a beautiful small country! The trip itself managed to avoid being a one trick pony with plenty of trips to the desert and a boat ride in Aqaba. The 12 day trip allowed me to see so much of this but also left me hungry for more! I was also very lucky that the rest of the group are fab people, it was a great trip with a great group. The only downside was leaving Jordan. How soon can I go back?!

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting Petra. In the media, the impression I got before visiting Petra is the Treasury building and not much else. How wrong could I be! We spent two days at Petra and I could have spent much more. The area is vast with temples, churches, mosaics who whole 9 yards. Its thought provoking to consider that so much of this stunning valley is still under the sand! There is also plenty of opportunity to eat and drink at Petra in particular the pomegranate and orange juice drink is to die for!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alah was great. A fount of all knowledge and very personable. In particular Alah arranged an excellent boat ride at Aqaba which allowed us to see parts of Jordan from a different perspective and tailored the trip to ensure we had time to visit the Jordan Museum to have a gander at the Dead See Scrolls. Thanks Alah!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go! Pack your bags and get to the airport! Jordan is amazing! Actually, try not spending as much as me on shopping, but that's another story!

Cuban Highlights - Cycling

I had an excellent time on this trip. The cycling through rural areas was great and the knowledge, help and organisation by our guide, Yazel, exceptional.

Fantastic. Yazel was approachable, funny and well liked by our group. He did his best to ensure that we had an excellent time. His dancing was great as well.

Walking on three Greek Islands

The holiday includes one night in Athens, one night on Paros, two on Santorini and three nights on Naxos. The walks are relaxed and although rugged in places the description of leisurely is appropriate. The ferry trips between the Islands could be a down side of the trip, the first one seemed quite long. However, the group learnt the best area for sitting, up at the top of the ferry, under cover but with plenty of air and the best views and the trips became enjoyable as we were well prepared and appreciated time to chat with the group. The trip was extremely well organised and we had many wonderful experiences packed into one week.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational moments were looking at the many stunning views, the walk on Santorini was particularly beautiful once our walk took us away from the crowds in the town. The view was constant all day and the picture postcard buildings are memorable.

Cecile was outstanding, she took great care to ensure the holiday was an enjoyable experience at all times. She was well organised, very sensitive and kind and good company.

Darjeeling, Sikkim and Singalila Ridge

Great combination of Himalayan trekking and cultural exploration

Most Inspirational Moment

Waking up to icy foggy morning and having skies clear shortly after sunrise to allow beautiful views of Kanchenjunga (Sleeping Buddha) Mountain range, Mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. Also hearing monks chant at Tibetan Buddhist monastary in Kalingpong.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very calm, funny and kind. Trip was very well organized. The support staff he selected for our trek was wonderful - great food and equipment/tents.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A few folks on our trek were affected by altitude sickness. Be sure to bring and take altitude sickness medication if you are not accustomed to trekking at higher elevations. Even in late October we had some very warm days hiking so take a short sleeve shirt and light weight hiking pants/shorts. No showers during the trek so bring some baby wipes so you can clean up at the end of the day.

I was very dissapointed with the group leader. This was my first Exodus trip so can only compare with other tour companies leaders. Not very helpful or informative. Only did the bare minimum to scrape by. Regret giving him the tip that was suggested in the trip notes on reflection!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure your fitness levels are up! This is advertised as 'moderate' but I disagree as I've found climbing moutains at higher altitude far easier than this!

We were sorry to learn that this traveller was so disappointed with her tour leader as we take great pride in our leaders and this is not normally the type of feedback that we receive. We have followed up on the feedback with our local manager and are confident that clients will have a better experience going forward. We remain sorry, however, that this client’s first experience of travelling with us was not more positive.

Walking the Great Wall of China

The whole trip was well worth the money, phenomenal views, challenging treks that are always varied, knowledgable guides and great food

The people in my group gave inspired me to do more treks, the phenomenal views and local culture. Also climbing the spider wall was a great sense of achievement

Jerry was great, so knowledgeable, he had a great sense of houmor and real passion for the wall and his culture, he answered all our questions with a great English understanding

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a sleeping bag and pillow for the cold nights, take warm clothing for the evenings, definitely try all the food and take jerrys advice and climb the spider wall! Amazing sense of achievement!!!

Intense and rewarding week

We spent a week with Paul Goldstein in the Olare Olok Conservancy and Masai Mara Reserve. Wild weather with storms and sunshine framed a week of extraordinary wildlife experiences, beautiful landscapes, hands on photography and great company. Staying at Kicheche Bush Camp was a real treat – integrated into the landscape (no fences here!), we were wonderfully looked after in camp and outside. The guides were superb, the quality of the food and drink whether in picnics or in camp was excellent.

Most Inspirational Moment

Spending 2 days with a cheetah with 5 cubs. Unless of course it was the lion cubs stuck on one side of a gully with their mums and the kill over the other side of the muddy stream......or the leopard and her cub.....or the magnificent cheetah brothers.....or the newly born giraffe.......or the sunrises/sunsets/storm skies.

Thoughts on Group Leader

One of the joys of travelling with Paul is that he prioritises the right things - finding the wildlife and the photographic opportunities, and giving those all the time they need. With the help of the great Kicheche guides, Paul got us in the right place at the right time; succeeded in keeping us entertained and challenged us to take ever better pictures. Charismatic, energetic and with decided opinions, there was never a dull moment.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take more warm clothes than you first thought - it's chilly before dawn in open vehicles. There is a reason the Maasai wear woolly hats.....

A Week in Jordan

I really enjoyed this holiday. I have longed wanted to go to Petra and I wasn’t disappointed.

Most Inspirational Moment

I can't say one particular part of the trip was inspirational as I was in awe of all of it! I didn't know anything about Jerash and found this very interesting. The Wadi Rum was also awesome and as I said Petra didn't disappoint.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Danny was very efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. He certainly made everyone feel inclusive and helped organise our lunches and evening meals.

Advice for Potential Travellers

So long as you are fit and don't mind walking, then you should be fine. I'm no athletic (never have been) my exercise consists of walking to the car and I'm 65, the climbing in Petra was well worth the effort. Although some of the group will go on ahead, all will wait for the slower people (me). I did take a trekking stick, which I found helpful, although it isn't a necessary requirement. Good quality walking sandals are fine, although it can be very sandy so the grit gets into your feet. (May be socks and sandals, fashionable now I'm told!)
