Great mix of activity, culture, and information

This was our first Exodus trip. We loved the group size (11) and its compatibility, mix of activities, and the incredible knowledge of the tour leader, Michael/Miguel. On most days we were out and about from 9 to 5. The terrain was lovely – hills and mountains surrounding rolling pastureland and olive farms. We saw and walked through so many white villages, and some of us took an extra 4 hour trip to Ronda, one of the most famous. The hiking was moderate. For me, the oldest by several years at age 75, it was at times tough because of the many ups and downs with the inclines occasionally too steep and long. The other 10 handled it with less trouble. Our tour leader, Michael/Miguel, knew everything about farming, geology, plants and animals and birds, and the history of the area. We all marveled at the extent of his knowledge! The farmhouse we stayed in was lovely with good food (the paella the last night was the best!), though the rooms lacked good lighting and the beds seemed a bit soft. This is a fun trip to go on for the activity, lovely scenery, and variety. We combined it with 2 days in Malaga and 4 in Granada and found every day rich and magical.

The hike in El Chorro gorge on the Caminito del Rey and walking through El Real Alcazaba, the royal palace, in Seville (tickets many in our group bought on their own for our day in Seville.)

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was excellent -- well organized and incredibly knowledgeable about everything -- plants, farming, geology, birds, animals, and human history.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You definitely need to be fit to do this trip. Be prepared for some challenging uphill stretches, fortunately not continuous. Since Exodus ranks hikes 1 through 7 not 1 through 5 I'd say that there are some parts of the hikes that are 3's not just 2's.

Wonderful holiday

What an amazingly beautiful country Jordan is. I would encourage anyone to visit. The tour took in a wide range of activities- history and religion, beautiful vistas and walks, local experience such as a hammam and meal with family (many were concerned this may feel exploitive but in truth you dinned as you would in a restaurant and was a nice alternative) . The drive round the desert was breathtaking, and sitting by a camp fire as the skies darkened in Wadi Rum memorable. The tour was not unduly fast paced allowing for down time – which for me is essential as a break from work. Jordan felt safe and welcoming – sadly empty because of conflict that doesn’t really touch Jordan (for tourists ) despite its proximity – so both wonderful to have places like Petra to oneself (almost) but heartbreaking to see the impact on a country and it’s people.

Most Inspirational Moment

The whole trip was one inspiring moment after the other, so hard to have a highlight. A varied well paced tour with lots of different activities - but optional extras could be declined if so wished by any traveller, allowing you to tailor your trip to your preferences.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader, Amer , couldn't have been better. His passion and love for his country shone through as he shared his stories and history about all of the sites we visited. He integrated into the group so well, putting a bunch of strangers at their ease and facilitating the group's cohesion. I particularly liked that he would share his knowledge and insight of a place and then allow us to explore in our own time - so you could do something at your pace and choice without feeling you were on a school outing. He encouraged us to remember our fellow travelers and that each of us would want different things and go at different paces. I cannot recommend him more highly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would encourage a visitor to arrive a day early to enjoy wandering round the markets in Amman (hotel well placed in downtown for this). If you are debating whether to go or not - do book - you won't regret it! Don't pack binoculars - they will hold up your luggage, may be confiscated or held by hotel whist you stay. More hassle then its worth

A fascinating and enlivening adventure

In a couple of action packed weeks we were able to experience the extraordinary variety of the Vietnamese landscape and culture, including beautiful coastal and mountain vistas, lively cities, colourful and inspiring temples, historic sites, engaging cultural events and wonderful food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Sailing for a day and a night through the breathtaking vistas of Ha Long Bay in a luxurious boat exclusive to our group, like a private yacht!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Huy Nguyen was a knowledgeable, engaging and highly efficient guide and organiser, who brought the places we visited to life, but on top of that he added a very special personal touch, in that he was alert to the needs of every individual in the group and went out of his way to respond positively to the specific requirements of individuals and to reassure individuals who were worried.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for very hot weather and (when we were there in November): very heavy rain

A True Taste of South Korea

This trip was amazing from start to finish! It was such a great mix of culture, history, food, and scenery – every day felt different and full of new experiences.

South Korea really surprised me with how diverse it is. From busy Seoul to quiet temples and mountain hikes, there was so much to take in. The trip was pretty full-on at times, and I’d have loved a bit more free time in Seoul or Busan to explore on my own, but overall it flowed really well.

Most Inspirational Moment

The DMZ visit was incredibly powerful and gave real perspective on Korea’s history. The Haeinsa Temple stay was a standout — peaceful, authentic, and something I’ll never forget. I also loved the Seoraksan National Park hike, with gorgeous views and a nice balance of challenge and relaxation. Busan was another favourite spot with its fun, coastal vibe and great food.

Michelle was absolutely brilliant. She made everything run smoothly, always had interesting stories to share, and really brought the places to life. You could tell she cared about everyone having the best experience possible. Her energy, humour, and local knowledge made a huge difference - we were so lucky to have her!

Advice for Potential Travellers

A fantastic trip packed with variety, great food, beautiful places and an awesome guide. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a real taste of South Korea. My advice: bring comfy shoes, try every bit of street food you can, and add an extra day in Seoul or Busan to explore at your own pace.

Discovering the Heart of Portugal with Carla

Portugal was a delight from start to finish—vibrant cities, charming villages, and breathtaking landscapes. Each day offered something new to discover, from the winding streets of Lisbon to the rolling vineyards of the Douro Valley. Touring the streets of Porto was an experience we'll never forget. The colourful tiled buildings, the rhythm of daily life along the Douro River, and the sampling of roasted chestnuts from local stands created a magical atmosphere. We loved watching the city come alive at sunset.

Our tour leader, Carla, was the heart of the trip. Her professionalism, enthusiasm, and deep knowledge of Portugal’s culture and history made every stop come alive. She was organized, adaptable, and always attentive to everyone’s needs—ensuring we were safe, included, and having fun. By the end, our group felt more like a circle of friends than fellow travellers.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you’re considering Portugal with Exodus, don’t hesitate! Bring comfortable walking shoes for cobblestone streets and good rain gear, especially in autumn. With an open mind and Carla’s expert guidance, you’ll enjoy an incredible journey filled with warmth, discovery, and lasting memories.

Our first, but definitely after a fabulous week, not our last visit to the Algarve

See and hearing the huge waves crashing into the sundrenched cliffs and pristine beaches. Although seeing genuine local artisans at work and sampling the local produce was a close second.

Francisco and Rafael couldn't have looked after us better. Nothing was too much bother for them and their love and knowledge of Portugal and the Algarve in particular was so impressive.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Leave enough room in your case for the olive oil, pottery and wine you'll want to take home.

The never-ending, fascinating scenery — from the beaches to the hills on the final days. All destinations were amazing but Óbidos is one of our favourite.

We hadn’t cycled before in a group and chose the e-bike, which was spot-on for the final day.

Well organized trip!

This was a well organized trip in a remote region. Beautiful views and very quiet trails . The hikes are quite challenging with a good amount of exposure in certain sections. Jose,our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced and yes,he does make the best lunch sandwiches!
The accommodations were simple , comfortable with a great view.

This is a challenging trip and the walking pace is quite fast. Good fitness level and training on hills prior to this trip are highly recommended.

Two vacations in one!

The tour started in the rainforest in Borneo where we saw orangutans, monkeys, crocodiles and various birds. The river cruises on the impressive Kinabutangun river were awesome! The second part on the peninsula was wonderful for culture, beaches, wildlife and food!!!

I especially enjoyed the mangrove boat excursion as we saw so much wildlife and stopped to swim on a beautiful quiet beach.
