Thoughts on Group Leader
We had two group leaders, Petrus and Ian. Both were great fun and kept us well informed. They went above and beyond to ensure we had an experience of a lifetime and even became mechanics when our vehicle had a blow out on a tarmac road, when one would may expected this to occur on the gravel roads.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Most days of this trip included very long drives, but this is the only way to see the changing landscape of the countries visited. Water is supplied on the bus and in most of the lodges, so take a water bottle. Poles for the hike to the White Lady Paintings could come in useful if you are used to walking with poles, but only one of our group used them, as the ground is very uneven. Be prepared to share accommodation in Estosha National Park. The majority of the lodges have a fridge and most have mosquito nets. Don't rely on always using a credit card as we found the electronic readers didn't always work, so cash was required. You only need South African Rand for use in South Africa, Namibi and Zimbabwe and US dollars for Botswana, which you will need for the border crossing into Zimbabwe.
