Overall is not up to prior trip with Exodus. This trip of tour leader and hotel were just very minimum level. The food is very basic breakfast, lunch – sandwiches were awful and the dinner was very plain and simple no special surprise at all.

Our group was fourteen on an excellent new minibus. None of the days driving were too long in distance and the roads were mainly excellent.
The weather in early June was hot (28/32 degrees). Stunning scenery and very interesting archaeological sights, incredible ancient churches and mosques.
Good food although variable. Hotels were good, some excellent. Albania is a rapidly expanding tourist destination with huge coastal developments – go now.
We loved Korce, Permet, Gjirokaster Castle and beautiful Berat and finally Kruje - there were not many places we didn't like! Lunch with a family up in the mountains was relaxed and much appreciated. Towards the end of the holiday it was fantastic to swim in the sea at Porto Palermo
Ed (Edon) was a very enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable guy with boundless energy. Briefer info stops would have been appreciated sometimes as he did ramble on occasionally but great historic and current day insights including tales of his growing up. Super rapport with our driver Dui (DiDi) who was super - a brilliant, careful and safe drive but also helpful, kind and funny and he kept an immaculate bus :) What a team.
Two extra night in Tirana at the start is good. Take a cooking class (book through Viator - class with Sindi) and a trip up the mountain cablecar. Prepare for hot weather with sun umbrella and hats. Medieval streets are sometimes steep shiny cobbles so have shoes with good non-slip treads. Possibly a walking pole if unsteady. Get your currency there and be prepared to pay cash mainly. Take Euros which are widely accepted or can be exchanged. Prices are rising and it is no longer a cheap destination. If you are adding an extra day before flying home then stay another nights at the Panorama Hotel -great hotel, rooftop pool and lounging area and right by the Bazaar and restaurants.
This was our first trip with Exodus and will not be our last! This company is very organized down to every detail. The description of the itinerary is very accurate, the hotels very nice , the Trek bikes were great and each bike had a handlebar bag for phones, sunscreen, snacks etc.
Our leader João was superb and made each participant feel welcomed, and cared for no matter the skill level.
João stopped to show us things of interest along the way each day, giving us the history and facts of which we would not have learned if we had travelled on our own.
João did briefings each day, so we knew exactly what to expect and a debrief at end of each day with a well organized power-point presentation.
He helped with dinner suggestions and even made the reservations for us.
His enthusiasm and love of his job made it a very enjoyable experience.
Also, Ricardo who was our other Exodus support person was superb! He cycled at the end of the group providing encouragement and support! Ricardo was always smiling and always available for our needs as well. He was a fabulous back up for any individual who needed help. We cannot say enough about Ricardo and how he helped to make this such a great experience for us!
The third Exodus support person was Toni! He was so kind and thoughtful and made the most elaborate picnics for us. He drove the van and met us at various check points so we had access to our belongings if we needed anything. He had water to fill our water bottles and was available incase someone needed to have a van drive if they weren’t able to bike any portions of the day.
These 3 individuals made the trip so wonderful for us!
The itinerary is accurate in that the description of the steep hills toward the end of day 3 , really were steep! Also the long steep hills on day 6 were as described.
We used pedal bikes and managed fine, we are mid 60’s but we are runners and in good shape. The first two days were flat and very easy for any skill level. The steep hills on day three at end of day were challenging on a pedal bikes, despite our good fitness level. However, we would do pedal bikes again despite the steep hills, it gave us a sense of accomplishment! E-bikes are available to people to sign up for prior to the trip.
The views were stunning along the ocean.
We were so impressed by this company, their attention to detail , their efforts to decrease their carbon footprint and we highly recommend Exodus to anyone.
We are already looking at idea for our next Exodus trip !
Beautiful views along the ocean
Group leader Joao was FANTASTIC
Read the itinerary in detail so that you know what to expect…. It is accurate
The Team of Joao, Ricardo and Tony provided great support on this trip. There were some beautiful coastal views, lovely boardwalk cycles through nature reserves and the excitement of short ferry rides across estuaries. With the exception of Porto, Lisbon and Obidos, the places we stayed overnight and where we had coffee stops felt like the ‘real’ Portugal as there were no other British tourists. Joao’s restaurant recommendations were very good – I had a week of delicious fish and seafood (meet and veggie options also available). The Pastel de Nata at the coffee stops and at some breakfasts were also delicious!
The view of the sea and Obidos lagoon from our final coastal vantage point was stunning.
We had high expectations for Joao who was our group leader as he had won Exodus Leader of the Year in 2024. He didn't disappoint. From the very beginning he instilled confidence and credibility. His briefings were very clear. He gave us insight into the local culture in an interesting way. He was aware of individuals' needs and addressed them. He had a great relationship with the group, a good sense of humour and really made the trip fun.Thank you Joao
The prevailing wind is from the north and should therefore be a tailwind. However, we had a headwind so some days the cycling was a bit more effort.
To experience a part of Italy which feels still relatively untouched is truly special. We were often walking without seeing anyone else!
The Scenery is beautiful and these walks offer a variety of coastal, forest and mountain views.
It was a moderate walk, you need to be in good fitness and the summer months can be hot but there was nothing difficult.
The hotel has changed since a year or so ago, so some reviews on here are old. This hotel is a beautiful setting with some great views from the terrace and very spacious. Just a 10 minute walk to the town’s shops cafes and Gelato! The hotel is family run and they are very welcoming and are involved in every area of the hotel. The food was fresh and varied and potions are generous – you wont go hungry!
The last day walk was spectacular. The coastal views, the blue of the sea! The beach on that walk is beautiful and the boat journey is lovely. The Stalactite caves visited are also mesmerising, unexpected and very impressive!
Our Leader Michele was very experienced, knew the area well and gave us guidance on the slightly more technical areas. He also helped us plan our free day with information on buses and nearby towns as well as optional extra walks. He was very happy, warm and engaging with the group.
The walking distances are for the official path trails, you might do a town walk, a cafe or shop detour which can add a little more on so if checking if you are capable for the distances, allow for a little extra. Take swimming stuff, the beach on the last day is beautiful and there is also a nearby beach for your free day. The town is small and the supermarket is small, dont expect to be able to buy much take what you need! Take atleast 1 pole and good boots are needed.
This was a holiday: good food, good weather, relaxing hotel, nice hosts , great group, well organised. An exploration, fabulous unhurried but exhilarating walks, wonderful scenery and an education. Our guide Julian seemed to know and love all the wildlife, the butterflies and birds, the geology, geography, mythology and the current social and political status of Bulgaria. An interesting , informative and stimulating trip for mind and body.
Seeing the Wall creepers and enjoying lunches with a view.
Delightful, caring, organised and knowledgeable
Explore the village of Yagodina in your free time. Take good waterproofs, if it rains it rains hard and fast.
We loved our trip to all of the exciting places in Peru. This trip hit all the places you’ve always wanted to visit all in one package.
Machu Picchu was outstanding. The Nasca Lines were fantastic. We really enjoyed all the restaurants and food. It was above and beyond delicious.
My first sight of Machu Picchu gave me goosebumps. The trip there was fun and exciting.
Our leader was Leo. He was an outstanding leader. He kept everything moving along very smoothly.
Be prepared for some long travel days. We were a group of 9 travellers. We had lots of extra room on our bus to spread out. Take the leaders advice on getting acclimatized slowly, eat lightly when suggested and be prepared for some fantastic sights.
This was an excellent walking tour with, as described, moderate walking but with time to stop and enjoy the wildlife and great views. It was very well organised and the village hotel was a good choice for walkers with good rooms, excellent home made food and attentive staff.
Watching eagles and woodpeckers while out walking.
Julian was absolutely outstanding - sensible, passionate, knowledgeable and clearly very experienced. He identified each member of the groups interests and then highlighted the relevant flora, fauna and birds as we walked. His 20+ years of experience showed and I would have no hesitation in joining another of his tours - or recommending him to others.
Go while you still can - it seems Exodus has been reducing their Bulgarian tour options recently but this is well worth the experience.
No disappointments with the accommodations, food, transportation or schedule. The guide Augustine was remarkable. He is a gifted leader- his skills were first rate with communication, integrity and the ability to unify complete stranger into a team.
When Augustine made us laugh and join together.
A skilled leader in addition to knowing about the history of guiding equipment, flora , fauna and animals. He kept us happy, care free and those of us with sore muscles on schedule.
Don't hesitate go!
Agu was a kind, thoughtful and generous leader throughout our time together. He quickly assessed everyone’s ability and guided us accordingly. This was truly an incredible trip with the most breathtaking views I’ve seen. The accommodations were first class with home cooked meals by our amazing chef! Highly recommend this trip for anyone looking for a great time in the mountains.
