The term B Corp stands for ‘B Corporation’ and is run by a global not-for-profit organisation, B Lab. Their assessment helps companies to ensure their operations benefit people, communities, and the planet rather than existing solely for shareholder profit.
B Corp certified companies must meet high standards of social and environmental performance and are transparent and accountable. We need to evidence how we take care of our staff, work towards a more inclusive supply chain and take corporate social responsibility to the next level. The certification covers our policies and practices with regards to our community, customers, environment, governance, and our workers.
Below are just a few examples of improvements we’ve already made as part of our B Corp journey:
• Defined a clear purpose focused on creating positive impact for people, places and the planet.
• Introduced a responsible marketing policy to ensure our communications are honest, transparent and aligned with our values.
• Published our Climate and Nature Action Plan, outlining how we are reducing our environmental impact and supporting nature recovery.
• Created a dedicated channel for suppliers to raise questions, concerns and feedback.
• Increased transparency in recruitment by introducing salary ranges across all Exodus and Headwater job advertisements
• Published a Justice, Equity and Diversity commitment to help ensure our business is welcoming, inclusive and fair for employees, customers and communities.
• Assessed the human rights and environmental impacts of our most significant purchasing decisions to support more responsible sourcing.
• Collaborated with fellow B Corps in the travel industry to drive positive social and environmental change.
• Continued to listen to employee feedback through our engagement survey, helping us improve the employee experience.
For the purposes of our B Corp certification, we declare that we are not engaged in lobbying.
Being a B Corp further demonstrates our commitment to delivering incredible adventures that are not just for profit, but for the benefit of our beautiful planet and all that inhabit it. The fact that we have been independently verified to meet some of the highest standards possible should give you that extra reassurance of our aim to provide the most responsibly-run adventure holidays.
We’re not resting here.
The B Corp framework has provided us with a roadmap of improvements we want to make across the business to create even more positive impact on the environment, wider society and our people.
“Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies like ours that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (“BIA”) and therefore meet the requirements set by B Lab for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonized standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardization bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions.
