Make 2021 a year to remember (for the right reasons)

We’ve said a swift sayonara to 2020, and there’s light tantalisingly glimmering at the end of the pandemic tunnel. Adventure is within touching distance, and it’s time to make 2021 a year to remember for all the right reasons.

If you’ve found yourself with a reason or two to fly solo this year, choose a trip that means you’ll spend some time self-indulging while travelling safely alongside other folks on your wavelength.

Sail the Greek Islands

Sail the Greek Islands

What could be more carefree than sailing around the Greek Islands? Our Sailing Yachts & Sandy Spots in Greece trip unites solo travellers in their 30s and 40s together on a five-island nautical jaunt. By day, you’ll criss-cross the Saronic Gulf, exploring picture-perfect beaches and towns. By night, you’ll gorge on fresh seafood and kick back on-board your yacht. Bliss.

Indulge in Italian treats

Cannelloni

If pandemic eating got a little monotonous, then the idea of gorging on Italy’s world-famous food could be a tempting one. Meet with likeminded others as you wander the streets of Palermo, tasting the very best street food, then travel to Taormina to sample delectable cannoli pastries and granita desserts. Our spring and summer departures promise the best chance of Sicily’s pleasant weather so that you can enjoy some glorious sunshine.

Escape it all in Costa Rica

Zipline in Costa Rica

If you fancy upping the ante this year, head to Costa Rica. It’s the ideal place to put yourself front and centre – indulging in the activities you’ve always wanted to try, but never had the chance. You’ll tube on the Rio Celeste, zipline through the jungle and try surfing on Tamarindo Beach. It’s like anti-lockdown. And we could all do with a bit of that.

Cycle the Prosecco Hills

Prosecco Hills

Feel freer than you may have felt in a while on a four day trip to the Prosecco Hills in Italy. You’ll walk the tracks and paths that weave through the vineyards, stopping to sample prosecco en route. On Day 3, there’s a sensational scenic 50km cycle ride – but if pandemic restrictions have left you a little unfit, there’s the option to ride an electric bike instead.

Rejuvenate in Portugal

If you emerged from 2020 feeling world-weary, escaping the UK could be an excellent way to kickstart the mind, body, and soul. We’d prescribe a few days on Portugal’s sunny coast for a digital detox to have you back to your circa ’19 self in five days. Get to know other travellers and re-learn the art of face-to-face conversation over leisurely dinners that follow active days. But honestly, you can be as sociable (or unsociable) as you like – this trip is all about you.

Decadence in Bali

Mount Batur

If you’ve got an Eat, Pray, Love style trip in mind this year (and if ever there was a year to indulge, surely it’s this one?), Sunrises & Summits in Bali has you covered. This trip gathers solo adventurers in their 30s and 40s together to experience some of Bali’s best bits. Under the expert guidance of a local tour leader, you’ll trek and bike jungle-clad hills and coffee plantations and explore ancient temples. There’s plenty of time to indulge in the kind of partying that was vetoed in 2020 – hitting plush beach clubs and learning to mix cocktails in swanky bars.
