Just brilliant!!

A wondrful trip in a beautiful place with a fantastic group of people

Most Inspirational Moment

The stunning views from the mountains, the energy & enthusiasm of our leader - and just being away with the best group of people. The laughs over the week, the coke mentos rockets and crisp tasting challenge made this such a brilliant trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara is awesome! Nothing is too much trouble, she goes above and beyond to make sure everyone in the group is having a good time. She has some great stories and her knowledge and love of the area is evident.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely do this trip! Eat the gelato wherever you can, go to Lucca (hire a bike!!), enjoy the walking, look out for wildlife. Have fun!!

Amazing Ecuador

If it’s variety you’re after, in one country, with no worries about getting around, this is the trip to choose. Every day brings something different, whether at fairly high altitude in the snowy peaks of Chimborazo National Park or the sultry heat of the Amazon basin. Breathtaking scenery between the destinations, coupled with stops in quaint market towns en route, mean the travelling is never hard work. The local people you meet and perhaps buy goods from are also friendly and welcoming.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to choose, but probably the time in the Amazon basin. The different types of wildlife seen during the day compared to on the night time walk, the reduced use of electricity thanks to candlelit rooms at the lodge, and the work being done at the nearby wildlife rescue centre to educate people as to the importance of all the species, meant a wonderful couple of days. The 'tubing' on the river was great fun too!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Pablo was friendly and informative in a very relaxed manner, without ever going into so much detail that you'd switch off from what he was saying. He organised things well so that the odd longer day on the day bus was broken up sufficiently with breaks along the way, and he knew of decent places to stop for lunch. He was always ready to get our extremely reliable driver, Nelson, to pull over for the countless photo opportunities en route.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Remember that you'll be going to a couple of places at higher altitudes, where it could be very cold, so you might want to take a warm hat and gloves to go with the extra layers of clothing you'll want on those days. Heed your guides advice when it comes to trying to avoid altitude sickness, as until you're at those heights, you don't realise what an effect it can have.

Cycling Sicily

Country is beautiful with so much history. Great for historical buffs and scenery lovers. Everyday was different with scenery and great variety of hills. Going through farmlands and cycling along the waterfronts.

Most Inspirational Moment

The city of Syracuse is spectacular.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Daniela was amazing, very knowledgeable of the country's history and areas. You can see her love and passion of the country come out in everything she said and did. She went out of her way to make sure we all enjoyed ourselves. Giuseppe our driver, bike repairer and lunch maker was also fantastic. Though Giuseppe did not know much English none of us had any problem communicating with him. The lunches he put together were spectacular, healthy and sometimes too much. Daniela and Giuseppe worked so well together.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Some of the hills are challenging so preparing ahead of time would be advisable but very doable.

Cuban Highlights Cycle

Great trip , with enough cycling to be enjoyable but not onerous.
Great insight into Cuba.

Most Inspirational Moment

Mojitos...mutiple

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex was a star . Gave us a real insight into life in Cuba....and he is not a bad cyclist.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Cuban hills may not be high but 30 degrees humidity makes them harder than you think . I appreciated my saddle cover.

Botswana Wildlife and Wilderness

My partner and I had the most fantastic time on this tour. Of course there were a couple of long drives but then Africa is blinking huge so we expected that. Yes, it was dusty – it was the dry season. The range of environments was great, the pacing excellent and the encounters with nature and people were well managed and yet up close and personal at the same time. So much was done for us that we sometimes felt pampered but it is a tiring tour and we were grateful that the team, led by Sam, did so much for us with such good grace. A great bunch of people.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational? Big ask! Alice our poler in the Delta was brilliant, open and it turned out an amazingly talented singer. The vastly knowledgeable Jeremy who led our bush walks in the Delta and never tired of trying to find out what bug was what and was a talented comic turn and singer to boot. Moses our guide who became my nephew or was it my uncle (don't ask) was a genial, funny, kind, caring guy who never failed to spot a track or a bird or an animal at amazing distances at speed on bumpy 'roads'. Sam our tour leader was just great, there for us all in every way, good natured, quietly authoratative, knowledgeable and caring. He judges your wellbeing by the size and honesty of your smile. Meeting all these people and more besides were among the most inspirational moments.

Thoughts on Group Leader

As I said but I'll add here, Sam's a man who can cook up a feast with seemingly little effort. He martialled his team quietly and was a calm, fun and efficient leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a thin scarf or a Buff for your nose and mouth on the dry and dusty drives. Trust your team - they know why you're there and they'll do a better job if you don't try to advise them about things, like where they should park up to get the best photos.

JAPAN - ANCIENT & MODERN

A thoroughly enjoyable trip from beginning to end

Most Inspirational Moment

I enjoyed all of it.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent - well organised, caring and helpful at all times.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Different from other Exodus trips I have been on in that travelled on public transport, but be ready for plenty of walking.

Autumnal delight

A fantastic week of walking in golden hued countryside, sampling local wines and enjoying local food. The group was great, the guide (Mark) top notch, the hotel and staff lovely, the organisation seamless – who could ask for more.

Most Inspirational Moment

Sitting with the whole group outside a restaurant in Siena overlooking the city as the sun went down - throwing the most beautiful golden colours onto the red brick and ochre paintwork of the buildings. Idyllic.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mark organised us without making us feel at all "organised" and clearly knew the area well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a extra fleece if travelling in October!

Thai Indochina Explorer

This trip is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the history, cuisine and the way of life in the capital cities of Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh and Bangkok. The itinerary also allows you to see how people live, work and socialise in rural areas which is what makes this trip so fascinating. During my 14 day visit I was able to learn more about the Vietnam war, the way of life in the Mekong Delta, the actions of the Khmer Rouge (the toughest part of the trip in my opinion) and the history of Angkor Wat & Angkor Thom.
The itinerary also allowed our group some relaxing downtime which involved sunbathing, snorkelling and fishing off Bamboo Island (near to the resort of Sihanoukville, Cambodia).
This trip does involve 2 fairly long trips by bus to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap although we were given a number of comfort breaks which included a stop at Skuon and a chance to hold a live tarantula and sample a fried spider!!

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational moments of my trip were: 1) The Homestay in the Mekong Delta and getting the opportunity to assist in preparing a meal (I live on microwave meals so this was a challenge) and being entertained by the local community....listening to a number of folk songs which told stories about their way of life. 2) The Killing Fields / S21 Prison was a very moving experience and I was extremely emotional when I saw the many graves and heard about the events that unfolded at the site. It is hard to take in but I believe it is important to learn about the atrocities that happened in the Killing Fields and the conditions that the prisoners were subjected to at the S21 prison facility. Before leaving the prison, you can speak to one of the survivors in the grounds and here their story. 3) Angkor Wat was amazing (despite the humid conditions) and provided some great photo opportunities.

Thoughts on Group Leader

All 3 group leaders on our tour were very good and provided a real insight into the heritage and culture of their respective countries. A big thank you to Tham (Vietnam), Borey (Cambodia) & Gigi (Thailand) for all their hard work and efforts in making this such a memorable trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure that you apply mosquito repellent on a daily basis, particularly at Angkor Wat as they had a good go at my legs and ankles!! Also make sure that you barter / negotiate when buying goods in the shops and markets as one individual in our group learnt the hard way when buying a pair of sunglasses! I would also recommend that you drink plenty of water during the daytime and bring glucose tablets with you to prevent dehydration. When packing before your trip don't take too much clothing as you will be living out of a suitcase and constantly switching between hotels. Most of the hotels provide a laundry service but I would speak to your group leader as they may be able to get a cheaper deal and allow your clothing to be washed & ironed using an express service. Lastly....enjoy it and try the local delicacies such as the Elephant fish, crocodile curry and fried spiders.

Botswana and Zimbabwe lodge safari

This trip for us was truly amazing. Good food, good views, lovely people. We look forward to going on another trip with Exodus. Which ever trip you choose enjoy every moment.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational moment has to be the elephants in Hwange N.P. But, this is a difficult question. The whole of our trip for us was inspirational without a doubt. Every day had its own little gem, we could have stayed another fortnight.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Andrew Lindsay, was amazing. His cooking was faultless, knowledge exceptional. Great sense of humour, all in all you couldn't fault anything. A lovely guy with a great personality. Can we book him again.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Yes, if they are going the same time of year, plenty of light weight clothes. And a battery operated fan. And a good tent light when in the delta.

Amalfi Coast Bike Tour

My family was a group of 12 that did the Amalfi Coast/Cilento bike tour. We enjoyed the 5 days of biking and saw many sites that we wouldn’t likely have found without the great tour guide Paolo. Our group of 12 was joined by 4 others and they were great group members who were a lot of fun.
The bikes were fantastic and definitely helped with the challenging climbs on this tour. It was also great having the support vehicle in the back of the group looking out for the bikers.

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the last day of the biking. 270 kilometers over the 5 biking days.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Paolo was a great tour guide and knew lots about the history of the land and was very knowledgeable about the local culture. He effectively dictated the pace such that both the stronger and weaker riders were accommodated for.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This tour has quite a few costs in addition to the tour itself. Although breakfast and most dinners are included, lunches are not and also there were quite a few unanticipated costs. Be very cautious of wet tarmac. It was VERY slippery and our group had an incident where two people slipped and fell in a wet downhill turn.
