Unmissable Multi-Activity Experiences With Exodus

Top Destinations for Multi-Activity Holidays

This was a long intended trip as we’d skied in the Rockies years ago but wanted to see what lay under the snow. We weren’t disappointed. The scenery is breathtaking and some have since asked if our photos were AI or real.
This was a trip that allowed for 2-3 nights in each location, which is perfect and preferable to moving on each day. We added 3 days at the beginning to enjoy Calgary , and deal with jet lag, which was well worth it. Calgary was a pleasant surprise.
A few days at the end to visit family and relax after what was a very active and full 10 days.
Other than the initial Calgary hotel, accommodation was very good.
Travel in our 14 seater minibus was fine for the 12 of us on the trip. 14 might have been a squeeze.
We packed a lot in. Did varying lengths of enjoyable walks and hikes, none were too taxing, but allowed us to feel where we were and escape the crowds.
Occasionally felt a couple of hours break, pre dinner might have been good, but wouldn’t miss any of the experiences we had.
Overall a wonderful trip, spent with a lovely group of people who I’d love to meet on a future trip.

Gail Hopper Discover the Canadian Rockies

Machu Picchu and Galapagos.
This was an absolutely phenomenal trip. We went in April/May 2026 and we were fortunate to be in a group of 12 extremely friendly people. Everyone was very helpful to their fellow travellers.
As the tour details state, this is moderate level. It is not for the feint of heart (or lungs, muscles, stamina, etc.)…lol. You will be continually on the go. If you do not suffer from FOMO, then you could to take a couple of breaks from the group and relax. Otherwise, it’s a very active itinerary. You get to see so many things that you certainly would not see if you were to book something on your own. By staying at local accommodations, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture.
The Inca Trail hike was a bit of a challenge for me, but everyone survived it and was very supportive of each other and their limitations. Machu Picchu was awe-inspiring and we were fortunate to be there on a sunny day. I loved the city of Cusco, with its many attractions. It’s small enough that you can walk and see many of the wonders available.
Quito was a bit of a short stay. It was great to see some of the local culture, and to enjoy the experience from our visit to the Equator.
Galapagos was on my bucket list, and I’d go back there in a heartbeat. By staying at hotels on the different islands, we were able to partake in some local culture after our daily excursions. Everything was very well organized, for boats, buses, planes, etc. etc. that we had to access. The wildlife in Galapagos is amazing. We got to see blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, sea turtles, stingrays, sharks, penguins…I could go on forever.
This was a remarkable tour and Exodus did an outstanding job of organizing such an incredible experience.

Connie Tweedie Machu Picchu & Galapagos

This was one of our best Exodus holidays. Canoeing down the Zambezi is such a wonderful experience. We saw hippos, elephants and crocodiles galore. The night sky was fantastic.
Sitting chatting around the campfire at night, and also at breakfast, was lovely.
The wildlife camping was more comfortable than I had expected. The tents are good quality, the sleeping mat is comfortable, (and doubles as cushioning on the canoe seats). A bowl of lovely hot water is provided each morning to wash with.
The meals are lovely and generous and cooked with fresh produce. A hearty cooked breakfast is a perfect start to a day on the river.

Planning a Multi-Activity Vacation?

Curious how our small-group multi-activity vacations work? You’ll find your answers here. From traveling with our expert local guides to Activity Levels and what’s included, this is everything you need to know.

What is a multi-activity vacation?

A multi-activity tour combines a variety of adventures into one itinerary, so you can expect a new challenge or experience almost every day.

Depending on the tour, that might mean kayaking, white-water rafting, canyoning, ziplining or wildlife watching, alongside time spent hiking or biking. Our winter adventures often include activities such as dog sledding and snowshoeing, allowing you to experience each destination in different ways.

Why choose Exodus for a small-group multi-activity vacation?

Exodus Adventure Travels offers expertly crafted small-group multi-activity vacations backed by over 50 years of experience. We’ve been honored with some of the most prestigious awards in travel, including the National Geographic Traveler Reader Award, Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award, Good Housekeeping’s Family Travel Award, Wanderlust Magazine’s Best Tour Leader of the Year, and USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Award.

Our thoughtfully designed itineraries combine a variety of activities with local culture, expert guidance and seamless planning, so you can focus on enjoying the adventure.

Are multi-activity vacations worth it?

If you enjoy trying new experiences, Exodus multi-activity tours are a great choice. They typically combine active pursuits – such as kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking and biking– with cultural exploration, allowing you to discover your destination in many different ways.

With a guided multi-activity vacation, you also benefit from the expertise of our local guides, thoughtfully planned itineraries and a sociable small-group experience, while we take care of the planning, transportation and logistics.

Are guided multi-activity vacations suitable for beginners?

Yes, many of our multi-activity vacations are suitable for beginners, and prior experience is rarely needed. Our adventures are designed for a wide range of abilities, and your expert local guide will be there to offer support and help build your confidence throughout the tour.

Every tour is assigned an Activity Level, making it easy to choose a tour that matches your fitness and confidence. Detailed Trip Notes also explain daily distances, terrain and pace, so you know exactly what to expect before booking.

What fitness level do I need for a multi-activity tour?

Our tours are designed to be accessible for most active travelers and we assign an Activity Level to every tour to help you choose the right adventure based on your ability and preferences.

• Most of our multi-activity vacations are suitable for travelers with a reasonable level of fitness, although the activities, terrain and pace vary.
• Hikes and bike rides can differ in distance, ascent and terrain, while some activities may be more physically demanding than others.
• If you prefer to opt out of an activity, your tour leader can often suggest alternatives.

If you’re unsure which tour matches your fitness level, speak to our team of experts who can help you choose the right itinerary.

How do I choose the right multi-activity vacation for me?

To pick a multi-activity vacation that suits you, the first things you should consider are where you want to go and what activities you want to try. We provide detailed Trip Notes that explain exactly what’s included on every adventure.

Once you’ve found your tour, check the Activity Level, which reflects both the physical demands of activities (such as hiking, biking or kayaking) and the overall pace, including early starts and longer days. Most tours are suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and a willingness to try new experiences.

What’s included in an Exodus guided multi-activity vacation?

Our multi-activity vacations typically include comfortable accommodations, selected meals, specialist equipment where required and the services of an expert local guide.

We also arrange your transportation, transfers and many of the practical details, leaving you free to focus on the adventure. Exact inclusions vary by tour, so it’s always worth checking the itinerary and Trip Notes before booking.

Can I join a multi-activity vacation as a solo traveller?

Absolutely. Our multi-activity tours are popular with solo travelers thanks to our small-group format and friendly atmosphere.

Traveling with a group makes it easy to meet like-minded people, while our experienced local guides handle the logistics and provide support throughout your tour.

Why choose a multi-activity vacation over a hiking or biking vacation?

A multi-activity vacation with Exodus could be the right choice if you want variety rather than spending most of your tour focused on one discipline. While hiking and biking vacations let you settle into a rhythm, a multi-activity itinerary could combine hiking, kayaking, rafting or canyoning, bringing a fresh challenge each day.

They are particularly well suited for travelers who enjoy learning new skills, experiencing landscapes from different perspectives and discovering which activities they might want to pursue further.

How does travelling with Exodus make a positive impact?

At Exodus, we believe travel should help both people and nature thrive in harmony. As a certified B Corp, we take a nature-positive approach and aim to contribute to the communities in the destinations we visit.

Where possible, we stay in locally owned accommodations, eat in family-run restaurants and employ expert local guides, so your tour directly benefits local people.

We also support long-term projects through the Exodus Adventure Travels Foundation, helping communities protect and regenerate nature.
