The most wonderful time in a mesmerising country

From the moment of booking the trip to arriving back to London everything was a super organised. When we arrived in Amman we were greeted by an Exodus representative, who helped us through security and took us to the taxis. The first hotel gave a great indication of what ‘Active Jordan in style’ will mean. Our hotels and accommodation were of a high standard. The huds in the Ajloun Forest Reserve were basic but nice. On our first morning Ab, our guide, gave us an overview on what to expect for the next 7 days. It was the beginning of the most wonderful week. I cannot imagine a better way of experiencing Jordan. We had a great mixture of sightseeing and activities to enjoy & experience the richness of Jordan: Jaresh, Aljoun Forest, Mount Nebu, Petra, Wadi Rum, Red Sea, Dana, Dead Sea and Wadi Mujib. Our driver Sami and guide Ab made sure we arrived safely and felt cared for at any point.

Most Inspirational Moment

The 24hrs in the desert with the 4h jeep trip and staying in the Saraya Rum Resort in Wadi Rum.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abdullah was THE best. We could not have asked for a better guide. Ab made sure we paid the correct price. In one of the restaurants there was a misunderstanding but Ab got us all a refund. He was going above and beyond.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take toilet paper as in some facilities it was not provided.

Suggestions

Thank you, Exodus team. I look forward to the next trip.

Spectacular

This is a wonderful and magical trip from start to finish with a great mix of culture, hiking, delicious food, welcoming people and breath-taking beauty of the landscape and archaeological sites.

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea and the Wadi Mujib Siq Trail.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abdullah is absolutely fantastic. He shared his exceptional knowledge of the sites, their history and significance and answered all our questions. Always attentive and well organised, a kind and patient host. Thank You Ab!

Action packed week!

Really busy trip but the pace calms down after Petra! Lots to see and amazing food to try too. Petra is as stunning as everyone says (I’d skip Petra by night, very busy expensive and stinky!) but Jerash is also absolutely beautiful and huge. The Dead Sea is a complete mind boggling experience you just can’t help but float. Lots of optional extras available for this trip – Turkish bath, cookery class, star watching, Petra by night.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most unexpected inspirational moment for me was the Siq Trail. This isn't a walk it's canyoning but really easy canyoning! Definitely need water shoes for this (and for Red and Dead sea too) but you really don't need to take anything else with you apart from a water camera/phone in waterproof case and make sure your glasses if you wear them are attached to your head securely! No sunglasses as you're in the shade. You swim some bits so will want to have your hands free. It's beautiful, definitely do it!

Mehkled is amazing. Very funny, patient, organised, knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely go a day earlier if you can so you can rest up before you start (a lot of the London group flights got in at 2/3am and you start at 8.30 am that day!) and explore Amman. Walking shoes are fine for this trip, boots not needed. If you want to do any shopping do it before you get to the Dead Sea as there isn't anything there apart from the hotel.

Excellent!

An excellent trip. Enjoyed every moment of it and was so sad to leave at the end. Laughed more than I have done in years and feel like I was away for months. We saw so much in the 9 days. I felt at home in Jordan from the moment I arrived. I will definitely be heading back to Jordan and booking another Exodus Edits trip! Thanks for having me!

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Petra (the treasury) for the first time, stargazing in the desert, the cooking class, learning a Jordanian dance in Wadi Rum, hopping all over the discarded trains in the desert, zooming through the desert on Jeeps.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was absolutely brilliant. Very good sense of humour and it was very important to him for us to get a good sense and understanding of Jordanian culture. He was always contactable if anybody had a question/problem (I.e in moments when he wasn’t physically with us). I felt like he genuinely enjoyed spending time with us and wanted us to get the most out of our trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I definitely overpacked warm clothes thinking that the desert would be colder at night than it was (October). Apart from that I would just say go with an open mind and say yes to all opportunities.

An excellent tour of an amazing country

This trip really does do a great job of showcasing what an amazing country Jordan is – taking you to some of its more well-known sites (e.g., Petra, the Dead Sea) and some of its lesser-known ones (I had never heard of the Wadi Mujib Siq Trail before but it was my favourite part of the trip). The trip strikes a great balance between fun activities and time to relax. The first hotel (Rum Art) is a little basic, but the standard improves as the week goes on which means you appreciate the later ones even more. I have never had longstanding ambitions to go to Jordan but, after this trip, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Wadi Mujib Siq Trail (wading/scrambling through the gorge) was my own personal highlight - but hiking in Petra, jeep and camel rides in Wadi Rum, and floating in the Dead Sea were all very close runners-up!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader, Ab, was amazing; he was funny, he looked after us, he shared his enthusiasm and passion for his country and its history, he took us to great food spots, and even adapted the tour where he could to give us the best possible experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would advise other travellers to arrive a day early so you can explore Amman (potentially with others from your group who are doing the same). In terms of clothing, I bought a couple of pairs of cotton/linen trousers based on what I'd read online and, whilst it's nice to respect the Jordanian culture, it really didn't seem to cause any offence any time that I opted to wear shorts.
